hi hello!!! as you may have inferred from my. month of inactivity, i’m not gonna be updading this fic anymore :( the dsmp fandom was rlly taxing on my mental health, n so im movin on!! im gonna throw all my old fics into one big series so they’re organized, n then orphan em :(
however bc i am nice and also i was proud of this fic’s concept, i wanna explain the rest of the plot and also share the little bit i did have written for chapter nine!!
so basically, theo was gonna go to punz’s and try to convince him to leave the egg and work with him. it almost works, but the egg is too far into punz’s head, and punz attacks theo instead. theo panics and yells for help, n sykunno (he was supposed to be a kind of. god of life in this? narrative foil to corpse, yaknow how it goes) was gonna swoop in and help him at the last second. boom chapter nine ends with theo in sykunnos fun, gay little garden :)
the other chapters didnt have as laid out of a plot, but karlnapity + tommy were gonna look for theo, and ranboo, tubbo, and niki were gonna be brought into it. i had some vague plot lined out with that trope where alivebur takes over ghostbur’s form for a little bit, and he was gonna help out. theo would eventually get let out of sykunno’s realm after sy and corpse expositioned at him a bunch (blah blah blah something about the egg being from another realm, and already having taken over other servers, some exposition about hypixel having been overrun and everyone not noticing bc they hadnt left the smp in months)
there’d be some power of friendship thing, and the final confrontation was gonna be karlnapity + theo against everyone taken over by the egg, while ranboo n tubbo + corpsekkuno (they were gonna bond actually i remember this) snuck back around and burned the egg with soulfire. boom the eggs gone everyone recovers and theo was gonna become some weird little hermit that lived on the edge of lmanburg bc he got attached to everyone again (+ wanted to prevent dream breaking out/alivebur coming back like he did in canon), who occasionally got visited by his dads from the future.
it was only gonna be like. 13 chapters max??? including the epilogue? yall didnt miss out on much. anyways heres what i had written el em ay oh
Punz doesn’t answer on the first knock, or the second, or the third. Theo’s almost tempted to walk away, accept defeat and try Ant’s house instead, when the door opens just a crack. Punz blinks at him, looking a bit surprised, and in the shadows that leak from the interior of the house behind him, his eyes almost seem to glow, red shining out at Theo as he frowns.
“Hey,” Theo greets softly, because they might not be that close, but he has not forgotten the debt he owes the other man, the fact that Punz came through and saved him, saved Tubbo . He hopes he can repay some of that debt, by saving Punz in return. “Can I come in?”
Punz watches him quietly for a moment, before nodding, stepping back to allow him access to the house. Theo smiles, ear twitching as he steps inside, surveying the space. It’s neat, but Theo’s sensitive nose picks up the bittersweet scent of rot he’s come to associate with the Egg, and it takes monumental effort not to cringe at the smell as it assaults his senses. Chat’s voices are a constant background hum in his mind, a never ending stream of carefulcarefulcareful dangerdangerdanger get out leave go something’s wrong, but he ignores them all.
As Theo walks further into the house, his ears slowly flatten against his head, and his nose scrunches up as he looks around. The red vines are everywhere, curling around table legs and crushing houseplants, smothering the life out of everything they touch.
