Chapter Text
“Dahyun, we have something to ask you,”
It was nice Sunday afternoon, and she was on her day off so both Nayeon and Chaeyoung invited her for a sleepover the night before, which she never declined and always willing to accept because she loved being around them. They had known each other for about a year and it was safe to say that she never felt left out even though both Nayeon and Chaeyoung had been together for years before they met.
“Yes? What is it, unnie?” she asked, completely clueless because Nayeon look so serious and Chaeyoung on the other hand, look nervous. She got up from her previous position, and sat up straight, waiting for anything that Nayeon wanted to ask her.
“So, Chaeyoung and I already discussed about this, and both of us agree that our feelings are mutual. And we’re kind of unsure about yours,” Nayeon started.
She froze. And she felt her anxiousness creeping up, sending shivers down to her spine, “What do you mean, unnie?”
“Dahyun, both of us are comfortable with you around to the point that we can’t imagine what our life could be without you in it. I don’t know since when, Chaeyoung too, don’t know when this feeling started because it came naturally and both of us can’t just brush it off,” Nayeon continue.
She felt her tears swelling, threatening to fall anytime. It was not something that she expects it was, but she can’t deny, judging by the way Nayeon spoke, it gave her hopes which she knew maybe it was just a false hope.
“Dahyun unnie, we have feelings for you. The same feelings that we feel for each other,” Chaeyoung continued. Nayeon nodded.
“W—wait, you what?”
“We have feelings for you. And we want to ask you, will you be a part of us? Will you be our girlfriend?” Nayeon asked.
“I— “
“You don’t have to give us the answer now. We can wait until you’re ready, as we know this a lot for you to take,” Nayeon suggested. But she knew better, she didn’t want to wait any longer. She’s been hiding her feelings for months, and she wanted nothing but to be with them.
“N—no, I mean, uhm, are both of you sure? To include me in your relationship?” She asked, wanted confirmation so that her racing heart can calm down and her nervousness could go away.
“We’re more than sure, Dahyun-ah. We love you and we can’t imagine our life without you know.”
Memories.
Bittersweet memories.
Dahyun can’t help but smiling even when her tears fell to her cheek. Using the back of her hand, she wipes the tears. It’s cold and she’s shivering but here she is, few meters away from her used be home. She didn’t prepare anything, she didn’t know how she will act in front of Nayeon and Chaeyoung and she don’t know what her heart want right now.
She’s just too tired and she wants to end everything soon.
Taking a deep breath, she knocks the door. But there’s no answer. She decides to knock again, thinking that maybe they didn’t hear her. And still no answer.
One last time, she promises herself, this is the one last knock and she’ll left if they don’t open the door, and so she raises her hand to knock the door.
But before she can even do it, the door is wide open. And the coldness that she felt seconds ago, is replace with warm and comfort as two other bodies collide with hers, and they pulled her in a tight warm hugs.
It is awkward, awkward for Dahyun.
She’s sitting at the couch, alone while both Nayeon and Chaeyoung are busy at the kitchen. They insist to let her wait for them so that’s what she do. It feels so strange, when a house that used to be her home, now feel so foreign. She can feel that she isn’t belong here, she’s like an outsider. And, strange feelings inside her stomach. She wanted to leave, so bad.
And while she’s distracted by her thoughts, her phone beeping.
From: Jihyo Unnie
Do you safely arrive? How’s everything?
She replies instantly.
I am, but now still waiting to discuss. They’re busy at the kitchen.
From: Jihyo Unnie
Good luck and if anything happens, let me know. Okay?
She smiles reading at Jihyo’s reply.
Will do. Thank you, Ji.
She put down her phone and startle when both Nayeon and Chaeyoung standing in front of her.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t notice both of you already here.” She said.
“It’s okay. Let’s eat.” Chaeyoung answered, offering her hand for Dahyun to take.
“Oh, my favorite ramen and tonkatsu!” Dahyun beam, looking at the food that placed on top of the kitchen counter, the place where they usually eat together.
“Of course, now, let’s eat before the noodles get soggy and the meat get cold.” Chaeyoung smile, definitely loving the sight of a smiling Dahyun.
“Thank you.” Without hesitation, Dahyun pull the chair and start eating. It feels so natural, like before. They chatting about everything, Nayeon wipe the sauce at the edge of Dahyun’s lips and lick it, Chaeyoung tucks Dahyun’s hair strands that covering her face behind her ear, and Dahyun smiling brightly at them, feeling bashful.
Like nothing had happened to them. Like they’re belong together, the three of them. Or, that’s what Dahyun wanted to cherish, while she has the chance to feel it.
Dahyun insist to do the dishes, while both Nayeon and Chaeyoung help cleaning the kitchen. And after everything is done, they move to the couch.
“So, I come back here to discuss.” Dahyun started.
Nayeon and Chaeyoung froze, looking at each other before nodded.
Dahyun take a deep breath, before she spoke.
“I know, both of you aware on why I left.”
They nodded.
“I’m sorry for that, and I know it was a very immature of me to just left.”
“No, don’t say that. It wasn’t your fault,” Nayeon interrupted. Dahyun shake her head.
“Ever since I heard that conversation, I can’t stop thinking about it. I tried to come back before but I failed, I was scared. I am scared to know that I don’t belong here, that I wasn’t supposed to be a part of this relationship. I thought all the possibilities and none of them were at my side.”
“Dahyun— “Nayeon tried to interrupt again but Chaeyoung stop her.
“Let her finish, unnie.”
Dahyun smile, softly.
“I don’t know where I stand right now, in this relationship. But, I know that the fear will always haunt me, and I’ll always remember that conversation. And, I’ll always feeling scared, and anxious. And it’s a lie if I say those words didn’t hurt me, because it is. And it still hurts.” Dahyun can feel her cheeks getting wet, and she didn’t bother to wipe the tears.
“Dahyun… I’m sorry.” Nayeon said, reaching for Dahyun’s hand and hold it tight.
“I’m sorry for not trying to make it work for us, for just giving up and running away from you. I’m sorry I made this hard for the three of us, I forgot to communicate and I didn’t even try to start over everything.” She continued, hands still holding Dahyun’s.
“But, I regret it. I really am. When you didn’t come home, I realized that I still love you, I’m still in love with you. And I know it’s hard for you to believe me, but I’m willing to do anything, and please, give me another chance. To prove how sorry, and how my feelings for you still here, inside my heart.” Nayeon explain.
Chaeyoung who’s sitting beside her can’t help but crying. She can’t even utter any words, as she loves both of them, and she wants them to work. She wants them to be back like how they used to be. But, she knows so well. Things will never go back to the way it used to be.
And Dahyun can just shake her head. It’s hard but she already made her decision.
It’s a lie for her to not breaking her own heart when Dahyun decided she wanted to go back to her home, the home that she shared with Nayeon and Chaeyoung. When Dahyun decided to discuss about their relationship. Of course, Jihyo feel greedy, she wants to be with Dahyun. But, she knows that Dahyun’s happiness is what matter to her.
She can’t help but keep looking at her phone, hoping that Dahyun will text her. And it’s already three hours since Dahyun left. Anything can happen and she can’t help but worried about Dahyun’s safety, but at the same time, she’s losing hope. Maybe, they do get back together. But, as long as Dahyun is safe and protected, she’s okay.
It’s not the first time for her to heal her broken heart.
She sighs. Ready to sleep, as she knows Dahyun probably won’t come back to her. And the thought of that is enough to make her silently crying. Oh, how she wishes it’s easy to erase this feeling, to just move on and find someone new. But, it’s so hard for her, not when she knew, she already falling deep for Dahyun.
As she slowly falling asleep, her phone ringing.
She lazily answering the call.
“Hello.”
“Hello, Ji. Can you help pick me at the train station?”
She can’t lie, that alone is enough to make her smiling brightly.
“Wait for me, Hyun. I’m coming.”
