April, 2014:
“UNCLE PADFOOT! UNCLE MOONY!”
Harry’s yelling and some mumbling downstairs woke Sirius up. Sirius opened his eyes to see the beautiful figure sleeping next to him. Remus. His beautiful Moony. He looked older with the years, his curly hair had not only golden locks but grey. But he was still beautiful, and Sirius loved waking up next to him.
“SIRIUS!! REMUS!!”
Someone yelled from downstairs, making Remus finally wake up.
“Wha? Wha? What happened?” Remus said with a very sleepy voice and face.
“Hey, baby” Sirius smiled, placing a kiss on Remus’ cheek.
“Is that Harry?” Remus said yawning “What time is it?”
“Very early…” Sirius answered, and checked his phone on the night desk “It’s 11:34… Shit… We overslept…”
Remus moaned “Harry is a very morning person, yeah?”
“Just like their father…” Sirius smiled remembering how James woke up very early for a morning run.
“BLOODY HELL, WAKE UP SLEEPY HEADS!!” Harry yelled from downstairs.
Sirius sighed “Let’s see what they want, hey love?”
Remus nodded “Yes sweety”
Sirius and Remus climbed downstairs. Ever since Harry got to Uni and acquired their first room, the house felt so lonely. Sirius remembered he cried all day, just like he did on Harry’s first day of school.
Harry had always let their uncles used they/them pronouns. Always having the possibility to use the ones they liked. A year ago, Harry told them they were something called genderfluid, which meant that sometimes they felt more feminine and sometimes felt more masculine. Preferring the more neutral name Haz or Hazza. Sirius and Remus supported them, specially Remus. He knew what it felt like not to feel comfortable with his gender assigned at birth. It brought both of them closer. Sirius couldn’t be prouder.
Harry and Ginny were at the kitchen, checking something at Harry’s laptop. Ginny was The Weasleys’ youngest child, who was born months after Sirius and Remus got Harry’s full custody. She had flaming orange hair, freckles and a wonderful smile. Ginny sometimes reminded Sirius of Lily. Except for their eyes. Lily had bright green, as Harry’s. Ginny had brown big ones. But Ginny was just like Lily physically. Her personality was just like James’. Very outgoing, talkative, sport lover. Harry and Ginny were friends since babies before becoming a couple two years ago. They were close to Neville, who was a very good-looking man now. Ron who had the same age than Harry and his girlfriend Hermione. They always used to hang out at their house when they were teens. They claimed Sirius and Remus were very cool. Sirius was glad.
“Good morning Prongslette” Sirius said “Good morning Ginny”
“Hello Sirius… Remus” she answered smiling
“Sleeping so late is not very healthy” Harry rolled their eyes.
The more they grew, the more Harry looked like James. Harry was wearing cool golden earrings and their nails were bright green. Remus adored Harry’s look because it reminded him of Bowie.
“You see, Pads?” Remus elbowed him “Your godchild is lecturing you about health”
“You overslept as well!”
“Just because you did!”
“Asshole”
“Wanker”
“Are you sure about this Haz?” Ginny asked amused
“About what?” Remus asked
Harry and Ginny were smirking.
“The UK Parliament approved Gay Marriage last month!” Harry said excited
“What?”
Sirius asked genuinely shocked. Gay rights were slowly getting approved by their stupid government. Which was good. But Sirius was used to the idea that he would never marry Remus. And that was okay, as long as they were together. They were practically married, anyway. They had been living together for 20 years. They had raised a child together. Sirius looked at Remus. Moving his mouth as every time he thought of something. Of course, he couldn’t believe this.
But Harry seemed to be very happy.
“I already signed you up for a ceremony… On July” they smiled “Just in time for my Birthday”
Harry showed them the laptop.
“Amm…”
“Harry…” Remus began
“Haz”
“Haz…” Remus said embarrassed “That’s very cool but…”
Haz looked confused.
“I thought you wanted to get married!” they protested “You’re in love, right? You’ve been waiting this moment for a long time. And it’s finally happening!”
“Marlene and Dorcas signed up as well” Ginny said “They are very excited to get married”
“Yeah, Prongslette… But we haven’t even talked about it…”
Sirius and Remus just assumed that they were happy this way. And they were, because there was no choice. But now that they could. They actually could. Sirius began thinking about the possibility. Marrying his Moony, the love of his life.
Sirius looked at Remus. He looked a bit embarrassed. Moving his mouth to think. Did he want this as much as Sirius?
“Then propose…” Haz said “Padfoot propose to Moony. And get bloody married”
Sirius tried not to blush. Even at 40, Remus provoked many things on him. Making him feel very young.
“Haz!” Ginny elbowed her partner, watching the awkwardness between them.
“Look…” Haz began “I’m not forcing you into anything” they looked between the two “I know it sounds silly to get married after so long, but you can now, so why not?” they sighed “I know mum and dad would’ve insist as well, because they knew you were in love. And I know they wanted this for you… And I am sorry that I insist a lot but I just want you to be happy, for Bowie’s sake…”
Remus smiled, making Sirius smiled as well.
“Prongslette…Ginny…” Sirius said “Would you give us a second?” he gestured at Remus.
Haz’s and Ginny’s faces lit up. Sirius was going to make this right. Sirius was going to propose. Like James did with Lily (he was there, spying that night, with Remus, he had to). Sirius wanted to be romantic. Sirius wanted for him and Remus to fall in love all over again. Just like they did for the first time.
“Let’s go Haz…” Ginny grabbed their hand
“Let’s check what my uncles have in the kitchen, I’m starving” they said “I hope you bought good chocolate, Moony…”
“Don’t eat them all! They are mostly mine!” Remus called after them. Sirius smiled.
“Let me know what you decide!” Haz responded.
When they were finally left alone, Sirius got nervous.
“Pad…”
“Moon…”
They said at the same time. Then they laughed nervously. Sirius ran his fingers through his hair. Still long and gorgeous hair.
“I’m going to speak now… And I don’t want you to interrupt me” Sirius began
“Pads… I want to…”
“I SAID DON’T INTERRUPT ME”
Remus silenced.
“I know I’ve been an asshole for practically all my life…” Sirius began, with tears on his eyes for a reason. Remus was looking at him so beautifully.
“Yeah you are…”
“Moony…”
“Yeah sorry. I’m gonna shut up” Remus said “I’m very nervous”
Sirius was so bloody nervous too. How did James did this so easily?
“I’ve loved you ever since the day I met you… And I know I was an idiot to notice but you turned my life upside down….” Sirius smiled “With your David Bowie obsession and your sweaters, books and chocolate smell. And how you insulted me so easily…”
Remus giggled. He was crying now. Sirius as well.
“You’ve been my best friend and companion for more than 20 years, and I know we are practically married but I don’t care….”
“Oh, For God’s sakes” Remus interrupted “Sirius Black, would you marry me?”
Sirius sighed “Fuck Moony. I was gonna ask first!”
“Well you were taking so bloody long…”
Sirius laughed; Remus followed.
“Of course, I want to marry you, Werewolf Mcwerewolf” Sirius said “You are the love of my life, I would marry you all the times necessary. I love you”
Remus had happy tears on his eyes “I’m gonna have Scooby Doo as my husband”
“Shut up, Big Bad Wolf”
Remus snorted. He closed the gap between them and kissed him. Sirius kissed his fiancé. It felt so well. So bloody well. Finally. A 20-year wait. And they were finally getting married.
“I’ll get a you a ring soon… I didn’t know I wanted to marry until this morning…”
“Shut up!” Remus shut him with a kiss
Every time they kissed; Sirius felt so young. So beautiful. So loved.
“Oh My God!! Yes! I knew you would want to! I’m so happy for you”
Haz came in bouncing happily. Remus and Sirius interrupted their kiss and look at them.
“I’m sorry” they said “I didn’t mean to spy… I…”
Sirius smiled “Come here, Prongslette…”
Haz approached them. The three of them hugged. Werewolf Mcwerewolf, The Black Dog Star and the Tiny Potter. Well not so tiny anymore.
“Congratulations!” Ginny said happily from behind.
“Come and join the hug, Ginny” Remus smiled.
She smirked embarrassed but join them in the hug.
“So… Haz…” Sirius said now relaxing, cleaning his tears “I would like to ask you. Would you be my best man, well best person in this case…”
It felt so right to ask Harry. Sirius had been James’ best man at his wedding. Sirius thought that he would never get married, but promised James if he ever did, he would be his best man as well. It was just right that Harry took his place, since James couldn’t.
“Really?” Haz asked shocked “I would love to! I would love to Pads!”
Haz hugged Sirius tightly. For a second their arms, felt like James’. Sirius still missed his best friend.
“It’s going to be the most beautiful wedding of the year” Ginny said “Wait until I tell my family…”
“Yep… But tell Fred and George that no funny business” Remus smiled
The Twins may be grown up adults now. But they liked to play tiny pranks and jokes on people every now and then.
“I don’t promise anything” Ginny joked.
Everyone laughed happily at that. Sirius took his FIANCÉ’S hand. Sirius was completely happy.

May, 1989:
Sirius would never admit it, but he had an incredible time with Remus last night. He was funny, he was different, he was a nerd, but in a good way. James and Lily had called in the morning, repeating apologies and giggling like assholes on the phone. They offered Sirius and Remus breakfast for what they had pulled. Well, the very least.
As Sirius and Remus walked to the restaurant later that day, because they wanted to get James and Lily waiting, Sirius couldn’t avoid laughing.
“What?” Remus asked
“I can’t believe our friends ditched us for sex…”
Remus smiled “Yeah… What a pair of wankers…”
“I didn’t even sleep properly” Sirius said “I spent the whole night high, listening to your stupid music…”
“Hey! Hey! You might be angry… but don’t insult Bowie” Remus crossed his arms.
Sirius smiled “You’re such a nerd”
“You’re such a snob”
“Oi… let me finish” Sirius said “But I had great time with you…”
Remus looked at him. He blushed. In a very cute way. Sirius tried to ignore that.
“I had great time as well…”
Sirius smiled, but saw James and Lily sitting in a table outside. They were using the same clothes than last night. As well as them. They were happy, tired but happy. For the first time, Sirius didn’t feel like he was losing his best friend. He felt like he was gaining two. Lily was a wonderful girl. Sirius never had a female friend before. It would be different. And Remus. Something told him that Remus was going to be very cool to be around. Sirius liked him. Sirius wanted to hang out with him again. Maybe the four of them could be a cool gang.
“Let’s just act like we hate each other” Remus said looking at James and Lily, the traitors.
“And that we are angry at them”
“Deal” Remus smiled
“There they are” James announced when they saw them approaching “Our very good friends…”
James and Lily giggled.
“How was your night?” Lily asked
“A nightmare!” Sirius spatted crossing his arms “I slept on his couch which was rough and smelled bad”
“I didn’t even close my eyes, afraid he was going to steal something from me, kill me and then ran away…” Remus said
“He… has terrible music taste”
“He… is an ignorant without any taste… and a horrible hair”
“Okay, now you’re exaggerating” Sirius said offended. Remus couldn’t insult his hair, even as a joke.
James and Lily looked amused between the two.
“I hope you had very good shag” Sirius said annoyed
“We had a terrible night for your animalistic necessities…” Remus added
James and Lily giggled even more.
“Oh my God…” Lily said “You like each other, don’t you?”
Shit. Were they very obvious?
“Pff… No…”
“Never…”
James sighed “Two very good things happened last night” he said “I had a very good shag with Lils… Twice…”
Lily elbowed him, going very red. Remus smiled. Sirius rolled his eyes.
“TMI”
“And… Our best friends became best friends…”
“We didn’t!” Both of them protested at the same time.
James and Lily laughed.
“Look at you, you even talk at the same time” Lily joked
Remus rolled his eyes. Sirius blushed for some reason.
“Sit down, wankers… Let’s have breakfast, okay?” James smiled.
Sirius and Remus sat down.
“Now that we are all friends” Remus said “James you need to tell us all of Sirius’ embarrassing stories”
Sirius gasped “Traitor!” he said to Remus “James don’t you dare”
“Let’s start by the one, when Sirius called our English teacher mum…” James said
Lily and Remus laughed.
“I hate you all!” Sirius spatted “Thanks James”
Sirius didn’t hate these people. Actually, he was sure from now on, they were going to spend a lot of time together, and Sirius was happy about it.
