Chapter Text

The wind gently blew into the room. The curtain flowing in the gentleness of the afternoon breeze. In the room, it was occupied by a raven haired man. The man on the bed groaned and slowly shifted his tired, heavy body. The man blinked his eyes open and adjusted it to the dim room. The only light coming from the setting sun outside the window.

Atsumu opened his eyes and looked around the room in confusion. He looked down at his arm to see it had an IV and other tubes attached to him. He looked towards the door when it opened and saw a nurse walking in. She looked over at the bed and huge happy smile on her face.

“Ah, Sakusa-san, I’m so pleased to see you awake. How are you feeling?”

Atsumu opened his mouth to answer but coughed a little at his dry throat. The nurse quickly apologized and brought a straw to his lips.

“Slow sips.”

Atsumu felt his desert throat being relieved and sighed. He thanked the nurse and laid his head back. He brought his hand up to his stomach and his eyes widened in panic when he didn’t feel the bump.

“Ah, Sakusa-san, please relax. Do you remember what happened?”

Atsumu looked at the nurse in confusion, before the memories began flooding back in. He gave birth to his babies. He was alive. He felt the tears gathering in his eyes as he looked at the wall.

‘I’m actually alive. I get to raise our kids with Kiyoomi. Thank god.’

The nurse gently rubbed his shoulder in comfort. The comforting silence was interrupted by a couple of snores. Atsumu blinked and saw his family and in-laws spread out on the one couch and 5 chairs (and floor) in the room. He blinked when he saw a snore closer to him and looked down to his Omi holding onto his hand, head on the bed and sleeping peacefully.

Atsumu smiled and gently removed his hand from the tight grip, bringing it up to the curly hair and running his hands through it. Kiyoomi blinked his eyes and stared at Atsumu, freaking the shorter male a bit. It always felt like Kiyoomi could stare deep into his soul.

The taller male gasped and sat up staring at his love.

“Oh, honey...”

Kiyoomi leaned over to give Atsumu a hug, being careful of the tubes around him. The two lovers embraced and cried silent, happy tears knowing that they could still spend the rest of their lives together. The couple separates and looks each other in the eyes. By the time they looked away from each other, the nurse had left the room to give them some privacy.

(Or to let everyone else know that he was awake…either one really.)

Atsumu turned his attention to his twin, who was snuggling into Suna’s arms and a mischievous smirk made its way onto his face. Kiyoomi knew what was going to happen and happily handed Atsumu a pacifier that was meant for the babies. Atsumu kissed his husband on the cheek and flew the pacifier at his brother. It hit Osamu on the face and the younger twin woke up with a growl, while rubbing his face with the pacifier hit.

“WHO THE HELL—”

“Oh shut up lesser twin~”

Osamu looked at the bed and froze when he saw the honey orbs of his brother staring back at him, smirk plastered on his face. The tears gathered in his eyes as he flew off of the chair (making Suna fall on the ground in the process) and went over to his brother. Osamu stood next to the bed, arms in the air, frozen a few inches away from Atsumu. The new mother opened his arms wide for his baby brother and that was all it took for Osamu to throw himself at his brother, sobbing loudly.

The sobs woke up the rest of the family and they all lit up in happiness when they saw Atsumu awake. While Osamu was hogging Atsumu’s lap, the others got a one armed hug from Atsumu since it was a rather awkward position to be in.

The door opened again and the same nurse from before came in with a tiny bassinet. She brought close to the bed.

“Hello, mommy. We’re finally here to meet you~.”

Atsumu brought a hand to his mouth as the tears gathered in his eyes. The nurse gently picked up one of the twins and placed him in his arms. The nurse grabbed the other twin and gather him to Kiyoomi.

“Hello daddy~.”

The new parents looked at their children in happiness. They were finally going to be a family. And thanks to the hospital staff, Natsume and Akihito didn’t have to grow up without their mother. Suna whipped out his phone and took a quick picture of the family (without the flash, of course). Suna then handed his phone over to the nurse and asked if she could take a pic of them. She nodded in agreement.

Suna uploaded the picture to his Instagram that night with the caption.

“My nephews, Natsume and Akihito Sakusa, made their entry today. It was a scary moment, but mother and children are alright :) glad that you’re alright Tsumu.”

*~One Month Later~*

To say Atsumu was still weak was an understatement. The raven haired male didn’t know why it was taking so long for him to recover from the birth. He was a healthy athlete and only got sick in the winter time.

Atsumu knows why. Hell, Kiyoomi and Osamu don’t even like talking about it. They were there when he had flatlined in the delivery room. Not to mention how protective everyone suddenly got over him. Don’t get him wrong. He loved the attention, but it was driving him insane that he couldn’t do the simplest things. He can’t even go to the bathroom by himself!!! Like earlier, he wanted to go to the bathroom, he tried getting off of the bed as slowly as possible and the door slammed open to reveal Samu.

The younger twin proceeded to quietly curse his brother and then carry him to the bathroom and helped him to pee. Which, why??? He can’t even pick up a glass of water for himself!! That’s how bad it’s been. Not to mention the amount of ‘babysitters’ on hand.

Somehow, Kiyoomi and Osamu have convinced both sides of the family, as well as the Inarizaki alumni, to watch over Tsumu as he recovered. The olympics were upon them and they needed to focus with everything they got. Atsumu was trying to convince Kiyoomi that he would be fine at home with the twins, but the taller was adamant about him staying in bed and resting.

The former blonde looked at the clock and sighed. Kiyoomi would be arriving home any second now. Atsumu gently pushed himself to sit up when one of the twins whimpered. Gently soothing the pup, Atsumu brought Aki to his chest and winced when the little one started suckling. As if on cue, the door opened slowly to reveal the taller man.

Kiyoomi smiled as he entered the room to find his youngest son, a carbon copy of his mother but with his father’s eyes, suckling away. Kiyoomi placed down the tray of medicine and water on the bedside table and sat on the edge of the bed, kissing the love of his life. He looked over at Natsume, the older twin who looked exactly like Kiyoomi with Atsumu’s honey eyes, when the little boy squeaked. Honey brown stared into obsidian and the little boy smiled and reached out for his father.

Kiyoomi smiled as he brought his older son towards him and watched as the little one wiggled in his arms and fell back asleep. He smiled softly at the baby in his arms and turned towards Atsumu. The raven was looking down at their youngest twin with a soft expression. Even a month after the birth of the twins, Atsumu’s body was taking a long time to recover. He still carried the sickly pale look in his complexion from when he first woke up after the birth. During his lunch break, Kiyoomi had called the doctor expressing his worries. The woman had only sympathized with the Spiker and told him that if he continued doing what he was doing, then the Setter would be back on his feet in no time.

Kiyoomi reached over to the tray and gently opened the cap of the medicine bottle he placed it down on the square paper and mushed the medicine into dust. He picked up the paper by the corner and placed it at Atsumu’s lips. The Setter looked at his husband in confusion, but the male had only nodded wordlessly. Atsumu continued to stare at him, but opened his mouth and the dust landed on his tongue.

Atsumu’s eyes widened at the bitter taste of the medicine and quickly leaned over to the cup of water that Kiyoomi was holding. Biting his lip, the younger male tilted the cup up to let Atsumu down the bitter tasting medicine. When the cup was empty, Atsumu pulled back with a look of disgust and betrayal plastered on his face. Atsumu pouted as he saw Kiyoomi’s shoulders shaking in glee, the Spiker hiding his face away from him. Atsumu brought his hand up and whacked the giggling man on the shoulder. Kiyoomi looked at Atsumu and pouted, rubbing his shoulder. It was now Atsumu’s turn to pout.

After Aki had finished suckling, he gently burped the baby until a puff of air left the tiny body. Kiyoomi quickly got up and put Natsume into the bassinet first and went to put Akihito next to him before he cried. Atsumu giggled as he watched Kiyoomi scramble to put the twins in the bassinet.

“You should ask Ma bout when Samu and I were kids. Haha. We could never be separated. If one of us got put into the crib before the other, then we’d cry until the other got put in with us.”

Kiyoomi turned back around to see Atsumu looking at the bassinet with fondness.

“I hope that Natsume and Akihito grow up in the same way that Samu and I did. Minus the fighting part though…. Always together, never wanting to separate from each other…”

Atsumu felt the tears gathering in his eyes. He didn’t know where the sudden mood swing came from. Was this how his mother felt when he and Samu were first born? The bed dipped and the familiar cologne of his husband invaded his nose and Atsumu buried his face into the crook of Kiyoomi’s neck.

“Damn, first my body’s takin’ forever to recover now this. I’m an emotional wreck. Thanks for takin’ care of me Omi.”

The raven hummed. “Anything for the love of my life.”

Kiyoomi hoped into bed on the other side of his love and laid down the two of them staring at the twins until they both fell asleep until it was time for the next feeding. The two of them completely content with their lives, happy to still have a long life with each other.
