Chapter Text
"Quackity?" Wilbur asked as he sat up.
It was empty in the darkness, it was filled with nothing and that confused Wilbur he couldn't find Quackity, who he had gone to bed with. There was nothing but him
SCREECH
It was like lightning, a flash and Wilbur was standing in the all too familiar train station.
He looked around, quickly, searching for Quackity, or Tommy or just someone so he wasn't alone. But it was just him and the train station. Alone.
He walked around searching because he should be out, he was free, right? Right? He looked at his hand and the ring. His ring was gone and he needed that ring. He needed that comfort that it was all real that he was living and breathing and he wasn't in the train station because he was free.
He wasn't free, was he? He was still trapped in hell, who was he to think he was free, he didn't deserve it. 13 years and how many more to go before it all stopped?
"Wil- you're- listen to me-"
God he was imagining things again. Imaging Quackity was there to save him, light up all this darkness. He wished it was true but he knew it would never happen. He was a fool to think it would.
"Wilbur, Wake up!"
Has he gone insane? Wishing so desperately for someone to care about him he managed to make a dream world where he has that.
He couldn't move his fingers.
His head was stuck staring at the station, looking out at the trains that sped past, teasing him with something he so desperately wanted. He was a caged bird wishing for a key to be let out and be free to see the sun. To be out and free in the sun's rays to feel the warmth that he got from Quackitys hands holding his, or the arms touching while they walked or his body over his as he fixed his wings or his hands in his wings as he easily get him to sleep by petting his wings. He wanted that back even if it was all just a dream. Even if it was fake he wanted to feel as if he was with someone else, that he wasn't going to be alone for so long.
Ice was climbing up his skin. He realised looking at his hands, now blue. It was climbing like vines, twisting up his body, it dragged itself up his legs, past his arms and all the way to his chest. The ice dung itself like a dagger into his chest being a permanent reminder he was stuck, he looked up again. Looking at complete darkness. The devil's darkness was surrounding him, forcing his chill onto Wilbur and forcing him to stay in the awful hell he created for himself.
"Wilbur! Wake the fuck up!"
He was jolted out of the cursed darkness and into heavenly light. Angelic light of his husband there, concern dripping off his face. It was real.
"Hey, hey, hey, breathe Wilbur, come one follow me," he said, his voice so soft and warm. He was warm.
Quackity held his face in his hands, thumbs under his eyes and wiping away the tears that fell. Wilbur slowly noticed how his hands were wrapped around Quackity. He was safe.
Quackity pulled him to his chest when a heartbreaking sob broke its way through his throat.
"Quackity," he cried, trying to sink into Quackitys arms just to remind himself its all real and he is there.
Quackity didn't let go of Wilbur, holding him safe in his arms and hashing him when the cries got too much and in his overwhelming sadness he forgot to breathe. Wilbur was so small against him, so small and so fragile against Quackity and in these moments Quackity realised the trust that Wilbur has for him. The pure trust he gave as he broke in Quackitys arms knowing the other would hold the pieces of him in his arms until he became whole again. Quackity rocked them as Wilburs cries died down into whimpered and sniffles, rubbing a hand down Wilburs arms.
Quackitys warmth overtook all the chill the nightmare has given him. Wilbur felt so safe in his arms. He was still not okay when his crying came to a stop and Quackity knew that and let him stay in his hold, rocking them and like a fire it devoured all the icy chill the emptiness of the train station gave him. He sagged in Quackitys hold allowing his body to relax as he remembered he was safe.
Quackity didn't stop rocking them not when all sounds from Wilbur has gone, not when the only thing that could be heard was birds chirping outside, he carried on and Wilbur gladly let him. He needed this comfort and Quackity was willing to give it to him.
"How are you doing?" Quackity questioned, breaking the peaceful silence they has
"Quite shit," he said dryly
"Want to move or you fine here?" He asked
"'M not moving," he mumbled turning to burry his face into Quackitys chest
"Okay," he said "wanna talk about it?" He asked
"I was back at the train station," he said "and I was alone and I didn't have the ring and it was so empty. It was so empty, Quackity," he said voice wavering with every word
"You're good, Wil, I go you," he said
"I don't wanna go back, please don't make me go back, I don't, I don't think I can do it again," he said
"Hey, hey, breathe, I got you and I'm- im not letting you go," he said as he dug his face into Wilburs curls. His arms tighten around him and Wilbur relaxed into him, his limbs felt like jelly and he hoped that Quackity would hold him. He was safe in Quackitys arms.
"I'm not letting you go, Wilbur"
