Chapter Text

Collective confusion is how I would choose to describe the initial moments of my awakening. A loud silence greatened me.

My senses comeback to me slowly. The smell of fresh pine and the tickle of a slight wind caress my skin. The distant call of birds greets my ears as the wind continues to guide the breeze. I can almost taste the fresh hair as I take a deep breath of air. And suddenly I remember.

My eyes flash open in alarm.

The accident!

I frantically start wiggling my limbs to check that they are still attached to my person.

The last thing I remember is getting hit and the darkness I quickly look around me

I had always grown up in the city or some faction of fictional urban bliss where everyone like to pretend this country wasn’t plummeting into another depression via capitalism. It not an exaggeration to say I am suitably confused to find myself in a dense set of trees that I presumably lead to a forest area. Id never seen trees so tall this close and personal.

Okay you got this think back to where you before this.

I sit for a second in the disconcerting silent the faint chirping of what I assume are summer insect my only companions

My mind comes up blank.

Okay Okay this is fine. With this mantra repeating in my head I attempt to strong up the survival training I took as a girl’s scout.

Okay footprints or something I can’t have just appeared here. I talk a calming breath and reexamine my surroundings. The tall pine trees stretch very far deeper into the forest or maybe towards the edge with it a since of direction I can’t tell though. The pine tree I appear next to has no noticeable footsteps and the dirt is only rumpled from my body’s hazardous arrival somehow.

Well shit. That’s just great. My gaze darts to the sky in search of the suns position. From what I can tell the sun has already begun its descent in the sky. I only have a few hours till the sunsets what to do what to do? I franticly search my pockets and find only my phone with a dead battery my wallet and a few packs of chewing gum.

Well at least I wore my comfy shoes today.

I slowly start walking toward the setting sun, deeper into the pines and grass warmly bathed in a golden cast of light.

The one upside to this dizzying turn of events is the quietness and closeness to nature.

Its so undisturbed.

I ponder as I step over large fallen trees and expansive rocks and pebbles. The air feels cleaner somehow. Free from the smog of the city I take another steadying crisp breath.

Enjoy the little things I focus on the crunch beneath my feet, the symphony of wild insects and animals swelling around me and the kiss of pristine air. With each breath I concentrate on the expansion of my lungs. And like this I make my way through the trees, though hopefully out of the forest. AS the last rays of sunlight kiss the earth just out of reach a town in the distance reveals itself.

While comforted at the though of finding answers, the though being out in the open while cover the last distance to the town brings about another bought of paranoia. I quickly begin using the last of my energy to amble towards the town before the darkness fully eclipses the sun’s gentle rays.

From the trees a dark figure watches through the cover of night thoughtfully watching the mysterious woman ample toward the town of Bree.

Notes:

Heeeyyyyy so thanks for the people who commented it's been a hot minute; not gonna lie I didn't think I would pick this fanfic back up BUT I'm too invested in seeing where Aiya's story goes, so I will be updating more frequently now!

Comment and kudos are much appreciated <3

Notes:

Thanks for reading the beginning snipped!
This is my literal first Fan fiction I've ever written so please comment below and tell me what you think so far!

I'm almost one with chapter 2, which will (hopefully) be longer than the first one!
