Love Language

Summary:

After all of the craziness in Echos of the Past, a long weekend is given to the students of Hexside for the celebration of the Flower Festival! In a field in the center of the Titan lies a garden of flowers and other plants from distant worlds and dimensions, some coming from the human world, it only appears for a week in the Isles every few years but any plants picked from it before it leaves will self preserve themselves till the garden reappears.

The isles dedicated this phenomenon to love, platonic or romantic, the festival allows witches and demons to take a week to appreciate the ones they love.

How will Luz and her friends celebrate the special time? what kind flower language will be spoken?

Chapter 1: The Flower Festival

Chapter Text

“King, I know you want to be the ruler of the playground but you need to be more careful.” A feminine voice said sternly to a little demon as she placed a healing glyph on the little furballs knee.

He whines but huffs in agreement anyways, “fine, thanks Luz.”

Luz stood back up and pat kings head as he hugs her legs.

“No problem buddy, we better head back to Eda and Lilith soon though.” The Latina says.

“I’m only going if you carry me, being a tyrant is very hard work.” He said, stretching his little arms up to the teen.

The human giggled at king and lifts him into her arms, scratching his head lightly as they leave the park and look for Luz’s mentor.

As they walked Luz started to notice a very different scent in the air, it was almost...sweet?

“Hey king? Have you noticed that it smells sweeter than normal today?” The human asked.

The demon sniffed the air before covering his snout with a gag.

“Ugh, it smells like your personality!... no offense.” He said.

“None taken.” Luz said, not knowing if that should be a complement or not.

Just as she said that, Eda and Lilith came into view.

“Oh, there you kids are.” Eda said, her voice sounding stuffed up more than usual.

“You okay Eda?” Luz asked in confusion.

"She’s quite alright, she always gets this way during this time of year, speaking of which, hexsides going to be closed for the rest of this week. Does that mean we’ll have more glyph lessons?" Lilith said.

King jumps out of Luz’s arms, “ why’s hexside closing? Did someone let the pixies loose in the school again?" The human asked.

King came back to Luz with a piece of paper, “this might answer that question.” He said.

The human looks at the paper with curiosity.

“Hexside will be closing all this week for the Flower Festival? There’s a festival!?” Luz said excitedly.

“Oh, a magical garden appears in the center of the Titan filled with ton of flowers, the isles celebrating with a festival dedicated to-“ Lilith explanation was interrupted by Eda sneezing loudly.

“-Trying to kill me with all the plant fumes." She mumbled.

“It’s called pollen sister.” Lilith said.

“Whatever, I’m heading back to the house before I loose anymore of my mental stability...” The witch said, getting on owlbert.

“Like you had any to begin with..." Lilith mumbled.

“I’ll meet you guys back at the house later, I’m gonna meet up with my friends at the library. Maybe I’ll ask them about the festival.” Luz said.

“Don’t stay out too late, I need you for bedtime stories.” King said as he hops on Eda.

They soon leave and Luz starts to make her way to the library, passing by a few people that were sharing cute flower crowns.

When she made it to the library, her friends were grouped in front of the building, they were chatting about something in excitement.

Her friends soon notice her arrival and wave.

“Hey guys, whatcha talking about?” The human asked.

“Just the most beautiful festival ever, it’s gonna be so amazing!" Willow said happily.

“I heard about that, what’s it like?” Luz asked and the group starts to walk together through town.

Willow explained the whole thing to the human, Luz smiled as she noticed more people wearing little flower crowns as they walk.

“That’s so cute! So everyone’s using flower language to show each other how they feel? Do you think they’ll have plants from earth there?” Luz asked.

“Maybe, the garden has so many different plants there.” Gus said.

"Amity’s the only one who’s actually went to the garden in our group.” Willow said.

The golden eyed witch was focused on something else so she was surprised when she suddenly hears her name.

“Huh? Oh. yeah, it’s pretty nice there, but I really don’t find it that fascinating.” She said sheepishly, a light blush on her face.

“Oh! We should all go there together tomorrow, then we can pick some flowers and give them to the ones we care about!” Luz said excitedly.

“Yeah!” Willow and Gus say in unison.

Luz looks over to the Blight to catch her getting distracted by something again, the human followed her gaze to find the witch watching a pair of witches trade red roses with each other, the roses turning into rose flower crowns that formed on the tops of their heads, walking away happily.

The girl taps her friends shoulder, causing the witch to jump a little, and smiles, “you gonna come along with us?” She asked.

Amity blushes in embarrassment, “oh-um... yeah sure!” She said

“Great! Let’s meet up at the library again tomorrow at seven then?” Luz said.

The group nodded, finishing up their meet up and walking each other home just after sundown, Luz walking back to the owl house with Amity since the Blight had left something there the last time the group hung out.

“What’s the garden like?” Luz asked.

The witch shrugs, “like any other garden I guess, except not every plant wants to burn or bite you. It smells a lot better too.” Amity said.

Luz giggles at the last comment as they made their way closer to the owl house.

You could hear hooty ranting to Lilith from inside, and king snoring by the window.

“I’ll be right back with your book!" The human said before going inside, leaving the young witch in her thoughts outside in the warm night air.

Amity didn’t like her experience at the garden that much, she was still in her bully phase at that time and isn’t proud of herself for who she was back then, she wants this year to be different, she wants to pick a flower and give it to someone special...

As she stood outside, a human was inside looking for a certain blights book, she was told that it was important and wanted to get it back for her friend.

As she searched she saw hooty chatting with Lilith.

“Hey hooty? Have you seen a book anywhere that doesn’t belong here?” She asked.

“Not a lot of these books actually belong here Luz.” Lilith said.

“I do remember eating one that had a weird scent on it.” The bird tube said.

“Hooty, that might be amity’s book, you need to give it back.” Luz said.

“On it!!” He shouts before making gross hacking sounds.

Suddenly a book shoots out of his mouth and onto the floor in front of the human. the cover looking familiar.

‘Amity’s diary!? No wonder she wanted it back so badly!’
Luz thought.

She quickly wiped the book down carefully and went back outside. Amity was messing with a little abomination in her hand in boredom but made it vanish once she noticed the human in her way over to her.

After Luz gives amity her book back, they say their goodbyes and the blights goes on her way back home, the young teen taking a shortcut to avoid any pranks that her siblings may have left on the original path.

Luz soon finds a book on flower language and studied it for a few hours so she knew exactly which plants to look for tomorrow, the young girls thoughts drifting to a certain witch occasionally throughout the night until she drifted off to sleep.
