Chapter Text
When Lucifer awoke the next morning, he automatically reached out for Chloe, and panicked a little when the bed was empty.
He sat up, rubbing his eyes, “Chloe?” Then he saw the ensuite bathroom door was ajar, and he figured she was in there and relaxed. But then he heard gagging and got out of bed faster than ever.
“Detective?” he hurried inside and found her knelt in front of the toilet, throwing up.
She’d dealt with morning sickness a few times now, but it didn’t make seeing her like this any better.
Immediately Lucifer knelt down beside her, rubbing her back and supporting her, “You’re okay.” He soothed, “I’m here.”
He remained that way until she had stopped gagging and then he tore off some toilet paper for her and handed it to her to wipe her mouth, “You okay?” he asked softly as he flushed the toilet and helped her to her feet.
Chloe nodded wiping her mouth and tossing the tissue into the trash, “I will be, damn morning sickness. I got it pretty bad with Trixie too.” She sighed as she rinsed out her mouth with mouthwash and dried her face with the towel.
Lucifer knew there wasn’t a cause for concern, that morning sickness was very normal. But he still felt bad for Chloe and hated seeing her unwell, “Come sit down, and let me make you something to eat.” He steered her into the bedroom, “Are you hungry?”
“Not right now, thanks.” She replied, sitting on the bed, and rubbing her face.
Lucifer kissed her head tenderly, “Well how about a little more bed cuddle time until you feel like it hm?”
Chloe smiled softly at him, “I like the sound of that.”
And so that’s what they did for a half hour or so. Just lay there in each other’s arms, listening to the sounds of the morning outside and their own breaths.
Until Trixie came bounding up the stairs, “Mommy, Lucifer are you up?” she burst in and looked at them but smiled. She’d been very okay with their relationship for awhile. “Are we having breakfast soon?”
Both adults sat up, but before Chloe could reply, Lucifer was speaking, “Yes, I’ll make breakfast right now if you’d like.” He looked to Chloe, “Feeling hungry yet?”
“A little.” She replied, leaning back on the pillows, still feeling a little sick.
“Alright, you stay here and take it easy. The child and I are on it!” he got up, put on his robe and spoke to Trixie, “Come along child, lets make breakfast.”
Trixie giggled at Lucifer’s enthusiasm, and headed downstairs with him.
“What did you feel like?” he asked, thinking about the articles he’d read, “Should be healthy, your mother is growing another human inside of her after all. She needs to eat well.”
“Eggs are good for you.” Trixie replied, opening the fridge, and pulling out a carton of eggs, “And maybe some fruit and toast?”
Lucifer nodded in approval, “Sounds good. Lets get started, shall we?”
The pair worked together and soon enough they had three plates of toast, eggs and strawberries ready to eat, complete with homemade smoothies.
“Can you put these on the table, and I’ll go and get your mother?” He asked Trixie.
She nodded and Lucifer headed up to see how Chloe was doing. She was sitting up on her phone when he got there, and he just smiled and watched her for a minute since she hadn’t noticed him yet.
“Texting your other boyfriend, are you?” he had to make that joke at least once.
Chloe jumped a little, not expecting to hear his voice but when she looked up and saw Lucifer she smiled as she rolled her eyes, “Funny, no I was just asking mom if she’ll be in town for the baby shower.”
Lucifer blinked, confused, “Baby…shower? I don’t get it. Is it some sort of ceremonial bath?”
Chuckling at his confusion, Chloe explained, “No, it’s a party of sorts to celebrate an unborn baby. Friends and family come, there’s snacks and sometimes stupid games. And sometimes guests bring presents for the baby to help out the parents.”
“But we don’t need help. I can afford anything the child needs.” The devil insisted.
“That isn’t the point, Lucifer. It’s a nice gesture. I wasn’t going to have one, but Ella really wants to plan me one. Anyway I was hoping to have it in a few weeks, so I was checking mom’s schedule since she’s shooting a new movie. Seems like she’ll be able to come.”
Lucifer nodded slowly, still a little confused, but he guessed if this was something Chloe wanted, then he was fine with it, “I’m glad she can come.” He knew that would make Chloe happy, “Anyway we can discuss this more later, breakfast is ready.”
Chloe smiled, “It’s very sweet for you and Trixie to make it.” She got up and headed downstairs with Lucifer who offered her an arm to lean on, and while she didn’t really need it, she let him do it anyway.
“Mommy we made breakfast!” Trixie told her proudly when they reached the dining room, showing off the table full of food and drinks.
“Wow looks very good. Thank you monkey.” She kissed Trixie’s head and Lucifer pouted.
“I helped too, where’s my kiss?”
Chloe chuckled, “And one for my devil too.” She gave him a soft kiss on the lips, making it quick since Trixie was watching, and she was hungry.
They all sat down and ate their breakfast, and Trixie mostly rambled about a sleepover one of the popular girls in her class was throwing, and how she was excited that she’d gotten invited.
“Is this girl nice?” Lucifer asked through a mouthful of toast, then at Chloe’s stare he swallowed and repeated himself.
Trixie paused, “Well…kind of. She isn’t nice to everyone, but I want her to like me cause she’s cool.”
Lucifer nodded, “I see. Well, I trust you to make your own decisions. But remember that kindness is the most important trait in a friend. And while she may be cool, if she doesn’t treat everyone with respect, it may not be a good sign.” He told her, “I know that you wouldn’t want to be friends with somebody who makes others feel bad, would you?”
The child shook her head, biting a strawberry, “No, I hate bullies…” she seemed to be considering Lucifer’s words, “I guess I hope she may start being nicer.”
“And maybe she will, people can change, I know that very well.” He shot a quick smile at Chloe, “But listen to your heart, and if you notice she is still mean, I would suggest befriending someone else.”
Trixie listened and processed then was nodding again, “I will. Thanks Lucifer. I think I’ll go to the sleepover and see what she’s like, and if she isn’t nice, I won’t be her friend.”
The devil smiled, delighted she’d listened to his advice, “I think that’s an excellent idea.”
Trixie had finished her food by now and picked up her plate, “Thanks Lucifer.” She smiled back and took them into the kitchen to rinse.
Once she was gone, Chloe spoke up with a tender smile, “I don’t think you have to worry one bit about being a father.”
Lucifer hadn’t intended to give her advice, it had just happened, and he only realized after he finished that he’d just spoken to her like a dad would.
“Oh-“he swallowed, a little sheepish, “Sorry I didn’t mean to, I should’ve let you handle it.”
But Chloe was shaking her head, “No, Lucifer you said exactly what I would have.” She reached over and squeezed his arm gently, “You did a great job. Seems like you’re a natural.”
Lucifer smiled to himself, pride filling his chest. He hadn’t really been trying to be fatherly, but the fact that Chloe thought he’d done well meant a lot to him, and helped ease his ongoing nerves about fatherhood, “Thank you.”
He swallowed his last bit of coffee and cleared his throat, “Daniel is spending time with the child today, right? So he should be here any- “
And then the doorbell rang, and Lucifer smirked, hearing Trixie rush to the door, “-second now.”
Lucifer followed the child to the door where Dan was now embracing Trixie, “Hello Daniel.” He greeted.
Dan looked up and smiled when he saw Lucifer, “Hey man, how are things?”
“Good, thanks.” Lucifer heard footsteps behind him and turned to see Chloe approaching them, coming to stand beside Lucifer with a casual hand on his back.
Lucifer had really come to love the little touches like that, and he smiled a little more at the touch, relaxing under her hand.
“Hi Dan.”
“Hey Chloe.” Dan smiled, approaching as Trixie let go of him, “How are you doing?”
“Pretty good. Having a little bit of a harder time with stuff but thankfully this one is a great caretaker.” She gestured to Lucifer who made a face, but he was secretly happy to take care of her.
While Dan and Chloe started to chat, and Trixie headed to get her bag, Lucifer decided to make himself useful and clean up the breakfast things.
So he did, rinsing off the plates and cups and putting them into the dishwasher, and setting it to run. He wondered what they would do that day since it was the weekend, and they didn’t have work.
By the time he was finished and returned, Trixie was by the door, ready to go.
“Bye Lucifer!” Trixie came over for a hug and Lucifer let her. He was getting much better with hugs now.
“Goodbye child. Be good.” He patted her back as she let go, giving a cute grin.
“I’ll try.”
Ever the cheeky thing. Lucifer definitely appreciated that.
Chloe said goodbye to her as well, and Dan, then they were alone.
“All alone at last.” Lucifer wiggled his brows at Chloe who chuckled at the face he made.
“Yes, but if you’re thinking what I think you are, the answer is no, Lucifer. We have stuff to do today.”
Lucifer pouted, which Chloe found adorable, “Later okay?” she kissed his nose softly which made it hard for him to keep frowning.
He bit back a smile, but his lips still turned up a little at the corners, “Fine. What are we doing today anyway?”
“Well I wanted to try and find my old maternity clothes. It’s getting a little hard to fit into regular stuff.”
Chloe had been wearing sweats and large t-shirts the last few weeks as her belly got bigger, but even those were a stretch now and Lucifer understood.
But then he registered exactly what she’d said, “Your old ones, as in from your first pregnancy? The ones that are over 10 years old now?”
Chloe nodded, “Yeah, why?”
Lucifer tutted, “That will not do. You deserve new ones, my darling. Not some musty ones that have been sitting in a box for years and are probably dreadfully out of fashion.”
Chloe rolled her eyes a little, “Lucifer, I don’t care about fashion like you do. Plus I only need them for a few more months, buying new ones would be a waste.”
“But you deserve some new things. And after you’re done with them, we can donate them or something.” Lucifer was pouting again, but this time it was on her behalf, “Let me treat you, please?”
It was hard to say no to those damn puppy eyes, and Lucifer knew it, “Okay fine.” She gave in with a sigh, “But not a lot of clothes, okay?”
“No promises.”
A short while later after they got ready, Lucifer was driving them to the mall. He’d wanted to look online for a ‘maternity boutique’ or something, and Chloe had told him through suppressed giggles that she didn’t think such a thing existed, and the mall was just fine.
It was hard sometimes with how her and Lucifer’s tastes were so different. They’d had a lot of disagreements when it came to the house and the décor. But they’d found ways to compromise thankfully.
But while Lucifer insisted that he wasn’t a snob, Chloe knew full well he could be sometimes, and she was trying to ease him out of that a little, convincing him that clothes from the mall were just as good as a fancy boutique, or that the groceries at Walmart tasted the same as the ones from Whole foods.
She did let him treat them sometimes, and of course she let him continue buying his clothes from fancy stores, because who was she to tell him what he could and couldn’t do. But she’d influenced his wardrobe a little and gotten a few more casual outfits in there, one of which he was wearing today.
Jeans, a grey t-shirt, and a leather jacket that made her drool a little.
“Are you checking me out?” Lucifer asked as they stopped at a red light, looking over at Chloe who was definitely staring.
She just gave a cute smile, “I told you that jacket was distracting, in the best way.”
Lucifer smiled back, “Is it now? Well I’ll take it off if you’d like.”
He knew just how to wind her up and Chloe’s heart certainly skipped a beat at the look in his eyes, even if they were covered with sunglasses currently. He looked like a rockstar with the shades and the jacket, but she didn’t say it in case he decided to take offence since he was ‘classy’ or whatever he’d say to describe himself.
It seemed they’d lost track of reality briefly, as suddenly there was a loud horn behind them, and they realized the light had turned green, but Lucifer hadn’t moved.
“Whoops.” He smiled sheepishly and started driving again while Chloe dramatically held her chest from the surprise of the horn.
“That nearly startled the baby right out of me.”
Lucifer swerved slightly before quickly correcting himself, “Y-you…can that happen?” he asked with an undertone of panic.
His expression and tone made Chloe start to laugh, “No!” she giggled, “No Lucifer, that isn’t possible. I mean labor can sometimes be induced by startling circumstances- “
The worried look on Lucifer’s face only got worse.
“But I’m not far along enough for that to be a concern. Don’t worry.”
Lucifer took a breath, “Okay good, because the last place I want you going into labor is in my car.”
“Why, cause it would ruin the seats?”
“Well yes but also I want you to have the best care possible. I already have a private room booked for you in the best hospital in LA.”
Chloe’s eyes widened. And there was the point about difference in lifestyle. Never would she have done that herself, “Uh…when did you do that?”
“A few weeks ago. I booked it for the week or so that you’re due.”
While Lucifer could be very spontaneous, he could also definitely be a bit of an obsessive planner, which was endlessly ironic. He could get very stressed over details and when things weren’t going right, which was usually her job.
“Babe, that’s very sweet but birth can’t be scheduled like that. Yes my due date is a guideline but many babies are early, or late.” It was very cute that he cared so much, and she knew he showed he cared through actions like that, but it simply wasn’t practical.
Lucifer bit his lip in that way she’d noticed he did when he was thinking, “Oh…well hopefully the baby comes during that timeframe, otherwise I guess we’ll just…go somewhere else.” He looked nervous now his plan had been slightly derailed.
Normally she was the one stressing and planning things, but Chloe had noticed since getting pregnant, Lucifer had become a lot more like that. Whether that was just his natural growth over time, or brought on by the coming baby, she wasn’t sure.
It was nice to have someone help her with those kinds of things, but he was getting himself needlessly stressed with some things, like this.
“Lucifer- “she took his hand as they pulled into the parking lot, “It’s okay. No matter where I have the baby, as long as you’re there, and the baby is healthy, then I’m happy.”
He sighed softly and looked to their joined hands then up at her, his brow still slightly crinkled, “I know, but I just want everything to be perfect.”
She squeezed his hand, “I understand. But parenthood is all about imperfections. Nothing is perfect when it comes to having kids. Things go wrong, plans are derailed all the time. But what matters is doing the best you can and being there for it all.” Chloe had learnt these things the first time around with Trixie, and she was glad that she had that experience now to help Lucifer through his own fears about first time parenthood.
Lucifer exhaled, taking in what she’d said, “I suppose. But I still have perfection right here.” He poked her tummy lightly with a small smile, then her breast, “And here.” Then her lips, “And here.”
He went about this for a minute or so, poking several body parts and making her giggle, but Chloe stopped him before his hand could get lower than her knee, “Okay okay-“she pressed her hand over his, cheeks flushed, smile on her face, “You’re very sweet, but we should go inside now.”
A brief pout tried to appear on the devil’s lips, but he didn’t complain, “Alright.”
They got out, Lucifer insisting on opening her door for her, which was rewarded with a cheek kiss that gained her the cutest blush in return.
Inside they went, Chloe taking the lead because apparently this was somehow the first time that Lucifer had been inside a mall, and he was a little overwhelmed, “Hold my hand or you’ll get lost and I’ll have to check the lost children’s office for you.” She teased, making Lucifer roll his eyes but he gladly took her hand in his.
The first place they went into didn’t end up having any maternity clothes, so they tried the next and started browsing.
Lucifer liked fashion but he got a bit bored when it wasn’t for him, very much like a child.
“This was your idea.” She reminded him when he groaned as she looked at yet another rack of clothes.
“I know but it takes so long.” He grumbled, but a quick kiss from Chloe got him to stop being grumpy.
“What do you think of this?” Chloe asked, holding up a blouse with pink flowers on it.
Lucifer looked it over as she held it up to herself, “I like it. But- “he reached for a similar shirt, but the flowers were blue, “This one brings out your eyes.”
That one made her blush a little, “Aw, really?” she turned to look in the mirror hung nearby and considered it, “Yeah I think you’re right.”
“Of course I am. I know fashion.”
“Snob.” She couldn’t help but tease, jabbing him gently in the chest with a finger.
“I’m not a snob.” He complained.
“Grump.” She nudged him again, “I’ll be done soon, don’t worry.”
After ten more minutes Chloe had finished picking her clothes and was heading for the changing rooms. Lucifer sat outside, cheering up at the cute fashion show Chloe put on for him with every item she tried on, since they were the only ones there.
Except one time when she was showing off a baby blue dress and was strutting towards Lucifer, someone else entered the changing area, gave them a weird look and the pair had to stifle their giggles through their hands.
In the end Chloe got a few new outfits, some pants, sweaters and shirts, a dress, and some pajamas.
As they were leaving, Lucifer was about to head for the next store, but Chloe was pausing and glancing around, “Did you see where the bathrooms were?”
He hadn’t but a quick consult of the mall map and they found them.
“Can you hold these while I go in?” Chloe asked, holding out the bags.
Lucifer nodded, “Of course.” And took the bags. He waited outside, but a shop nearby caught his eye, and he found himself wandering towards it.
It was a toy store.
They already had most of the things they needed for the baby, but Lucifer found himself browsing anyway, ending up the stuffed animal section.
He’d just picked up a soft bunny rabbit plush when he suddenly heard wailing nearby.
Lucifer winced and looked to the source, finding a young boy, maybe 5 or so, sitting on the floor crying.
At first he ignored him, assuming he was just having a tantrum because he didn’t get the toy he wanted or something.
But after a moment he realized no parent was coming to help the child, and he started to think something was actually wrong.
Normally he’d ignore the kid anyway, it wasn’t his responsibility, but he felt some sort of instinct deep inside, telling him to help.
So with a sigh he put the toy back and approached the child, “Um…child-“he said awkwardly but the boy, who was curled into a ball wasn’t listening.
Lucifer looked around, hoping he could find someone else to put the responsibility on instead, but the store was pretty deserted. He needed to step up, “Alright.” He crouched down like he’d seen people do with children before to get on their level, “Hey.” He softened his voice a little, “Um…spawn…I mean little boy.” He cleared his throat and the boy finally looked up, snot dripping down his face and Lucifer winced, “What’s wrong?”
“W-where’s my d-daddy?” Came some whimpered words at last and Lucifer sighed. Lost child it seemed.
“I don’t know- “it seemed that wasn’t the right thing to say as the boy started crying harder, ”Bloody hell. Um, it’s okay I’ll find him.”
That didn’t seem to be good enough as the boy just kept wailing and it was hurting Lucifer’s ears, “Christ…” what calmed kids down?
He looked around at all the toys, “How about this?” he grabbed a stuffed dinosaur from a shelf and offered it to him, “If I get you this will you calm down?”
The boy looked up a little, saw the dinosaur and nodded, grabbing it and pulling it to his chest, immediately getting tears and boogers on it.
Lucifer cringed, but at least he was quieter now, “Okay.” He rummaged in his pockets for a tissue then when he couldn’t find one he sighed and gave up his pocket square, “Here, wipe your face.”
The boy started to calm down a little and took the square, wiping his face with it and Lucifer grimaced as it got covered in tears and snot. There was no way he wanted that back now.
“Okay, where did you last see him?” Lucifer asked, straightening up as the boy stood.
But apparently 5-year-olds didn’t have the best memory and the boy shrugged, “D-don’t know.”
Lucifer sighed, rubbing his forehead, “Okay…shit- “he tried to think of what to do.
Then he remembered something Chloe had said while teasing him. She mentioned a lost child’s desk.
“Bingo.” He smiled, “Come on child, I know where to go.” Reluctantly he offered his hand, not wanting the boy to wander off again and he tried not to cringe too much when the small, sticky hand grabbed his.
He stopped and paid for the dinosaur first, then headed out of the store with the kid, relieved the toy had calmed him for the most part, otherwise this would look kind of suspicious.
Lucifer didn’t know where the lost child’s desk was, and he stopped to check the map, “Downstairs, okay.” He kept walking but the kid was already whining again, “Now what?”
“My feet hurt.”
With a sigh, Lucifer lifted him up onto his shoulders. He was going to have to clean this whole suit as soon as he got home.
But it made the kid happy, so he dealt with it as they headed downstairs and there, he found the lost child area. And there stood a pensive looking man, talking to the lady at the counter.
“Daddy!” yelled the child and the man turned and immediately smiled.
“Charlie, thank god.” He rushed over and Lucifer passed the boy over to his father who hugged him tightly, not seeming to care about the snot and grossness on the boy.
Then he looked to Lucifer who was inspecting his suit for any possible stickiness left on it, “Thank you so much, I turned my back for 2 seconds and then he was gone! Where was he?”
“Toy shop upstairs.” Lucifer replied, shoving his hands in his pockets, “It’s no problem, really.” The child had been a pain, a gross, sticky pain in the neck. But he was glad he’d helped reunite him with his dad.
“Makes sense.” The man nodded, “Well thank you so much.”
“Daddy look what he got me.” The boy said, showing off the dinosaur toy to his dad who frowned a little.
“Did he get you that?”
The boy nodded, holding it tight.
The man bit his lip, “Charlie, you can’t keep it.” But the child began to cry as soon as he attempted to take the toy from his grasp.
“It’s okay.” Lucifer insisted, he really did not want that sticky, damp toy, “He can keep it.”
“Let me pay you back at least.” The man reached for his wallet, but Lucifer shook his head.
“Really, it’s fine.” He had more than enough money, buying a fifteen-dollar toy for some kid wasn’t a big deal.
The man sighed but smiled, “You’re too kind, thank you again. Do you have kids?” he asked, “You seem to have that fatherly attitude.”
Lucifer paused. Did he? Really?
“Uhm I have a…step daughter and my daughter hadn’t been born yet.”
The man smiled, “Ah, those are the days. Mine is five now and it feels like just yesterday he was born. Don’t take those days for granted. There is something real special about those first years.”
The boy was starting to get fussy, so the man turned to leave, “Good luck man, I’m sure you’ll do great.”
“Thank you.” And he watched the man and his son leave.
It was a brief interaction, but Lucifer had quite enjoyed it. Seeing that little glimpse of parenthood, hearing from a father that the early years were ‘special’ made some of his nerves turn into more excitement for their new arrival. And hearing that assurance that he’d do a good job, even if it was from someone who didn’t know him, made him feel good.
“I didn’t think I’d actually find you here. I was joking.” Came another voice, but this one was familiar.
Lucifer looked to see Chloe approaching with an amused look on her face, thankfully not seeming annoyed that he had wandered, “Sorry.” He gave a sheepish smile back, “Child in crisis.”
Chloe watched the father and son leave, “What do you mean?”
“Oh, a kid got lost in the store upstairs, so I brought him here. Thanks to your comment actually, otherwise I wouldn’t have realized there was an area for lost children.”
She smiled, “Aw you helped a lost kid, that’s sweet.”
Lucifer blushed a little, shrugging it off, “His crying was annoying me.” Which it was, but that wasn’t the only reason why he’d helped.
“No, you’re just secretly soft, hm?” she teased a little, nudging him a little, “But I knew that. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.” She kissed his cheek, making him smile.
He did feel good lending a hand like that, and he wondered if that was a fatherly instinct he’d felt when he helped the boy. He didn’t think he had one of those, but maybe he was developing one now they had a child on the way and was becoming a father figure in Trixie’s life too.
Lucifer didn’t want to overthink it, so he changed the subject, “I wanted to grab something from that toy store if that’s okay.” He was sure she was a little tired, he’d noticed she got tired faster now from the extra weight she was carrying around.
“It’s okay.” Chloe leaned against him a little, “Doesn’t she have enough toys though?”
She did, they had a chest of them ready in the nursery but there was something about this bunny that was drawing Lucifer to it, “Yes…one more can’t hurt right?”
Chloe rolled her eyes with a chuckle, “You’re already spoiling her, why am I not surprised?”
But once they were at the store and she looked at the cream-coloured rabbit plush that Lucifer had chosen, she seemed won over, “It is cute.”
“I treated you.” Lucifer pointed out, gesturing to the bags of clothes he was still holding, “Let me treat our other girls.”
He paused. That was the first time he’d ever referred to Trixie or their unborn child as ‘his girls’. It had just come out of his mouth so naturally.
It wasn’t that he thought Chloe would be bothered by what he said, he was more taken aback by the fact that he’d said it at all.
But Chloe was teary when he looked at her, “Oh don’t say things like that when my hormones are all out of whack.” She sniffed, wiping at her eyes.
Lucifer had noticed that Chloe had been more emotional lately, but it didn’t stop him worrying he’d said something wrong, his insecurities that were much less invasive nowadays, trying to niggle at his mind, “Um…sorry I- “
“O-oh no, baby you didn’t say anything wrong. I-in fact I love what you said.” She was smiling despite the tears, “It was v-very sweet.”
A silent ‘oh’ formed on Lucifer’s lips, and he silently decided to say that again in future. Not because he wanted Chloe to cry, but he liked that she found it sweet; even if he’d deny to the ends of the earth that he was sweet.
“That means you’ll let me get it, right?” he smirked to diffuse any possible tension.
Another eye roll, “Fine, fine. It is your money after all.” He’d insisted that this shopping trip was on him.
Satisfied, Lucifer held onto the bunny and set out looking for something for Trixie. He didn’t want her to feel left out.
He settled on a kid’s telescope, despite trying to convince Chloe to let him buy her a real one, he got a resounding no on that, and he didn’t want to push her, so he settled for this one.
It was by national geographic so it must be decent, right?
“Alright, do we need anything else?” Lucifer asked after he paid, and they left the store.
Chloe thought about it, “Hm…don’t think so.” She yawned, “I could use a nap actually. I forgot how tired I got in the later months.”
“Well let’s go home then.” Lucifer put an arm around her, and they left the store and returned to the car.
As they drove, Lucifer thought about today. About those two times he’d showed a father’s initiative and instinct without even trying, and he felt a little more confident that this would all be fine.
“After my nap…maybe you could model for me this time?” Chloe spoke up, interrupting his thoughts.
He raised a brow, confused, “Oh really? You mean my jacket?”
She shook her head, a cheeky grin appearing on her face, “I was thinking maybe your birthday suit.”
Lucifer blinked, surprised but soon a smile came over his own face, “I would like that.”
“I hope your nap is quick.”
