How did it go

(9:01)

i dont want to talk about it

What

What do you mean

(9:05)

Wei ying

Talk to me

(Missed Voice Call)

Wei wuxian

Pick up

Hey

(Missed Voice Call)

(9:10)

Fine

Ignore me

I will see you at the wedding

Make sure you show up

Don’t you dare run away when i come to you

I will never forgive you if u do

You hear me wei wuxian??

(9:13)

What did lan wangji do

Hello Wanyin

What do you mean?

Did he tell you anything last night?

He didn’t??

Now that you mentioned it

He didn’t read or respond to any of my messages

Something happened between him and wei wuxian

He told me he planned to confess

When I asked him about it he said he doesn’t want to talk about it

And now he’s ignoring me

What?

But there’s no way Wangji would reject him

Something must’ve happened then

You said he didn’t read your messages yet?

Yes

It is weird since Wangji wakes up at 5

There is no way he would be asleep until now

Something is fishy

I have to go get ready for the wedding ceremony

Are you attending?

Yes

I will go to Wangji’s place to check on him

Keep me updated

Alright

(9:20)

Wangji

Did something happen with Wei Wuxian?

I’m coming by, okay?

Wei Wuxian looked at his reflection. From his messy hair, dead eyes, to his pinched lips. He had bad days before, but never because of a heartbreak.

Despite being dumped a lot, Wei Wuxian always picked himself up quickly. He had no time for regrets.

Yet, with Lan Wangji, it was not the same.

Lan Wangji meant so much to him. He was so dear to his heart. So, out of all the failed relationships and the rejections he came across, his, hurt the most.

Wei Wuxian tried. He really tried not to be pessimistic. He tried to convince himself that Lan Wangji probably did not have the time to reply, but it was 9am. Lan Wangji was awake.

Of course he was awake, like the fuddy duddy he is. It made his lips curl slightly, but it dropped as soon as it lifted.

None of the Jiangs, Jins, Nies, or Lans had work today. The wedding was an important ceremony for the big families. All heads of the families needed to attend. So Lan Wangji did not have anything to be busy with.

That thought tore his insides apart the most. It circled in his head and refused to leave no matter how much he brushed it off.

Wei Wuxian flinched out of his thoughts when his phone rang. He picked it up, preparing to shut it if it was Jiang Cheng, but it wasn’t. It was Jiang Yanli.

He couldn’t ignore her. He knew her well. If he didn’t answer, she would leave her wedding and come for him. He didn’t want that. So he answered.

“My dear, dear Shijie.” He tried to lighten his tone as best as he could. “Am I late? I’m sorry I swear I’m almost—“

“A-Xian.”

He shut his mouth, fake cheer long gone. He couldn’t after all. He could never lie to her.

“Are you okay?” Her tone was so gentle, it made his eyes sting.

“Shijie, I..I don’t know” Wei Wuxian clenched his fist. “He didn’t respond. He won’t talk to me.”

“Oh, A-Xian. Aren’t we here?”

Wei Wuxian swallowed thickly against the lump in his throat. “Mm.”

“Then we’ll face this together.” She paused. “You are not alone, A-Xian. We are all here for you. Yeah?”

He closed his eyes. “Yeah.”

“Now, won’t you come? I really need both of my dear brothers with me today.”

“Yeah.” Wei Wuxian repeated, taking a deep breath before smiling softly. “Coming.”

(9:50)

you know what

dont worry about it anymore lan zhan :)

u can ignore my previous messages

ok?

(10:09)

I don’t think Wei Wuxian confessed to him face to face

What

He doesn’t seem to be aware of anything

When I asked him about yesterday he looked confused and said everything went well

That coward

I don’t even know if he confessed in the first place

Also, Wangji’s phone is getting repaired

It fell from him yesterday pretty badly it blanked out

God

I hate misunderstandings

He looks so depressed it’s pathetic

Let’s leave this matter for them to solve

We are on our way

Jiang Yanli was hugging him.

“I’m so glad you came, A-Xian.” She said, pulling away to smile at him.

Wei Wuxian’s smile widened. “Of course I would come. It’s my precious shijie’s wedding.”

She placed a hand on his cheek, and Wei Wuxian’s wide smile shrunk to a small one. “Everything will be fine.” She whispered.

Wei Wuxian nodded, chest heavy with emotions.

She held his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze before letting go and letting her bridesmaid apply the finishing touches on her appearance.

Wei Wuxian left the bride’s room and went to the banquet hall. Most of the guests were already here. His traitorous eyes kept roaming the hall for a familiar blank face, and it only made it worse when he saw him enter the hall with his smiling brother.

Wei Wuxian turned away and tried to find something to distract himself, but there was nothing he could do, and the ache in his heart did not fade away.

“Wei Wuxian.” It was Jiang Cheng who found him first.

“Oh, Jiang Cheng.” He grinned at his brother, who scowled at his cheerful attitude.

“Gross.”

Wei Wuxian gaped in fake hurt. “Rude!”

“Shut up, that’s what you get for ignoring me.” Jiang Cheng stood by his side, but did not look at him. “You look so fake right now. I hate it.”

Wei Wuxian punched his shoulder. “Stop scowling at your sister’s wedding.”

“When he comes for you, listen to him.”

Wei Wuxian paused. “What?”

Jiang Cheng only sighed and left.

“Hey, what do you—“

“Wei Ying.” A deep voice came from behind.

He froze, then closed his eyes. He did not want to turn around and face him. He would not be able to handle the distance that will be between them because of his stupid feelings.

“Oh, it’s Lan Zhan.” He steeled his heart and smacked the cheekiest smile he mastered before turning to him. “You came, I was worried you wouldn’t for a second.”

“Mn.”

Wei Wuxian avoided looking at the upper side of his face, specifically his eyes, and kept his gaze averted. “You look good. Very good.”

“Wei Ying?” He stepped closer.

Wei Wuxian’s nerves broke and he stumbled back. “Ah. I...I need to check up on Shijie for a little bit. I’ll see you later in the ceremony, okay?”

He turned and started to walk away, but Lan Wangji did not give up. He followed and grabbed his wrist. “Wei Ying, what’s wrong?”

Wei Wuxian couldn’t keep his smile on his face anymore. “Lan Zhan.” His voice was low. “I know I told you to forget about my message, but it’s still not easy to get over it, okay?”

He waited. He waited desperately for the excuses, the apology, and rejection, but he was met with none. Lan Wangji was quiet.

It made his heart drop. He turned to face him, and all he saw was the troubled expression on his face. Something snapped in him.

“Stop looking at me like that.” He snatched his wrist from his grip. “Don’t act like I’m the one who’s being unreasonable here. I meant everything I sent in that message. You didn’t even bother to respond.”

Lan Wangji reached for his hand again, but Wei Wuxian did not let him. He dodged out of his reach, and put some distance between them.

He sucked in a deep breath. “If it bothered you to that extent, then we don’t have to talk anymore.”

Lan Wangji’s face finally showed some distress. “Wei Ying, please.”

Wei Wuxian only shook his head before walking away. With every step away from him, his chest grew heavier. Yet, he did not look back.

For the rest of the ceremony, Wei Wuxian kept a fixed smile on his face, and avoided looking at Lan Wangji or standing anywhere near him.

He pushed Lan Wangji to the back of his mind. The less he thought about him, the better. Lan Wangji did not try to approach him again, so Wei Wuxian decided to give up on his shattered hopes.

The promise of a dance was already long forgotten.

Instead, he kept his attention on his family. Jiang Cheng kept sending him pointed looks, but Wei Wuxian knew that he was only worried, so he didn’t mind him.

Jiang Yanli was on stage with Jin Zixuan, exchanging rings and vows, but she still stole glances at him from time to time.

Whenever that happened, he made sure to give her one of his best smiles. He can see how happy she was, he didn’t want to ruin it for her in any way possible.

He was okay. He was going to be okay. This was not his first time dealing with disappointments. He managed to move on before. He could do it again. He was sure.

Wei Wuxian was sure.

(3:46)

Are you alive

yes

Shame

bitch

wdym

u want me ded????

You haven’t texted since the wedding

That was like what

Four days ago

why

u missed me?

;))

Bullshit

just admit it

u miss me soooo much

Fuck off

Its just so weird that youre this quiet

Sure

Lets go with that

And ignore the elephant in the room

dont

No

I told you to listen to him

what do u know jiang cheng

i waited

he said nothing

not even a clear no

not even a message

My god

You two will be the death of me

then keep ur mouth shut and leave me be

Fine

Go die from sadness

See if i care

whatever

Fuck you

(5:03)

Mr. Wei?

I am sorry for the sudden message

(5:10)

no its fine

what do you need, lan-xiong?

Ah

I’ve been wondering if Wangji messaged you in the past few days?

no

why would he?

He has been feeling down lately

He wouldn’t tell me what’s wrong

I figured since you two are always talking he might’ve said something

we no longer exchange messages

Mr. Wei

yes?

The day before the wedding, you two went out no?

we did

You sent him a confession afterwards

Am I wrong?

hah

he told you?

He did not

Because he doesn’t know about it

Wanyin told me

wow

jiang cheng

the betrayal

I am sorry if I’m meddling, but I did not imagine the situation would get this bad

he read my messages

and chose to ignore me

then showed up like nothing happened the next day

what do you expect me to do?

Do you really see Wangji as the type to ignore people’s messages?

i dont know anymore

Do you, really?

what point are you trying to make here?

Mr. Wei

The day of the wedding, Wangji did not answer any of my messages

I went to his place to check on him

okay?

He told me he dropped his phone

what

It was a bad fall, his phone blanked and wouldn’t turn back on

So he gave it to the service center to repair it

wait

then the read receipt?

He must have dropped it after opening your chat

I am sure he did not mean to ignore you

(5:21)

Mr. Wei

Wangji is bad with words

It’s something he had struggled with ever since he was little

I do not know what happened between you two in the banquet

But I am assuming he was struggling to put his thoughts into words

Because I know how much he loves and cares about you

He would never ignore a confession from you

(5:23)

Do you understand what I’m trying to tell you?

shit

shit

i need to go

I am sure he is in his apartment

lan-xiong

Yes?

thank you

:)

(5:30)

lan zhan????

r u there???

pls reply

fuck

lan zhan

im coming over

okay?

Wei Wuxian did not hesitate to throw an unknown amount of money to the taxi driver before running inside the building.

Lan Wangji lived on the fifth floor, and Wei Wuxian was one second late, because the elevator doors slid shut as soon as he reached it.

He groaned before making a turn to the stairs. By the time he reached the door of Lan Wangji’s apartment, he was out of breath.

Wei Wuxian huffed and rang the doorbell. He waited for five seconds before he heard the sound of dragging footsteps.

The door opened, and Wei Wuxian’s mind blanked. Lan Wangji’s face was no different than any other time. As calm as ever, yet, there was still an air of gloominess around him.

He seemed surprised to see him at his doorstep. “Wei Ying?”

Wei Wuxian bit his lips, shifting sheepishly. “Lan Zhan.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “I probably have a really thick face, coming here after what I did.”

Lan Wangji only watched him silently, giving him time to speak at his own pace.

“That time I..” Wei Wuxian lowered his head and clapped his hands together. “I am so sorry.”

A pause.

“Why is Wei Ying apologizing?”

Wei Wuxian did not lift his head. “I—on the night of the play, I sent you a confession. You read it, but didn’t respond.”

He sighed. “I thought that it was your way of rejecting my feelings, then you came to the wedding and acted like nothing happened, and I got so sad and angry.”

“Oh—“

“This is why I’m sorry!” Wei Wuxian interrupted. “I didn’t know your phone was broken. I pushed you away and it wasn’t even your fault!”

“Wei Ying.” Lan Wangji’s hand reached for him, but paused mid-way and clenched into a fist.

Wei Wuxian saw that, and felt like shit. So he took a breath and held Lan Wangji’s hand firmly.

“Lan Zhan! I like you!” He blurted out.

Lan Wangji’s eyes widened.

“I love you. I want to go out with you.” Wei Wuxian squeezed his hand and stepped closer. “I want to keep holding your hands and be by your side, until you get sick of me.”

Lan Wangji took in a shaky breath. “Like you..”

“Yes!” Wei Wuxian nodded.

“Love you..”

Wei Wuxian smiled at him. “So much, Lan Zhan.”

“I..” Lan Wangji’s eyes softened. “Love Wei Ying, too.”

“Really?”

He placed his free hand on his cheek. “Mn.”

Wei Wuxian huffed with a fond smile. “Oh, my dear Lan—mmph”

Lan Wangji interrupted him with a kiss, and Wei Wuxian wasted no time in wrapping his arms around his neck.

He felt his lips curl as Lan Wangji gripped the back of his neck and pulled him closer. He pushed against him until Lan Wangji staggered back. He kept pushing until they were inside the apartment, then kicked the door shut.

Wei Wuxian melted against the brush of Lan Wangji’s tongue on his. His head was buzzing, he couldn’t think of anything but Lan Wangji.

Lan Wangji, who pushed him against the wall.

Lan Wangji, who touched his waist with loving fingers.

Lan Wangji, who grunted against his lips with impatient dedication.

They kept kissing for a long time, parting only to fill their lungs with air. They kissed until they were interrupted by one of the bunnies headbutting Wei Wuxian’s foot.

He pulled away and looked down at the white bunny that kept headbutting him. “My child!” He cried, before kneeling down and picking the bunny up.

“I forgot our children were here. Oh, for shame.” He tried to hug the bunny to his chest, but it kept flailing in his hands until he lowered it to the ground. “What the—“

The bunny headbutted him one last time before hopping away towards Lan Wangji.

“Lan Zhan!” Wei Wuxian complained, offended. “This one really doesn’t like me.”

Lan Wangji huffed at him, the corners of his lips slightly lifting.

Wei Wuxian’s heart skipped a beat, but he only offered him a pout. “Is it that funny to you, Lan Zhan?”

Lan Wangji responded by pressing a soft kiss on his forehead. “Wei Ying is silly.”

Wei Wuxian fought against the urge to smile, and continued his act. “Ah, the betrayal. I am hurt.”

He went to where the other three bunnies were, and laid on the ground between them, closing his eyes. “Guess I am an outcast with the rest of my children.”

He felt them nudge and sniff him curiously, and opened one eye.

Lan Wangji walked towards him and sat by his side with the white bunny in his arms. His gaze was soft as he watched the bunnies hop on top of Wei Wuxian.

“Er-gege.” He whispered, directing Lan Wangji’s attention to his face. He smiled, and dragged his body up to face him. “Hold me.”

Lan Wangji put the white bunny with the others before pulling Wei Wuxian to his lap and caging him between his arms.

Wei Wuxian laughed and buried himself in the embrace. “Ah, Lan er-gege so good to me.”
