Chapter Text

Minnie woke up that morning with a stretch. When she moved to put her feet in the slippers she usually kept by the bed, her toes met something wet instead. She looked down and saw that instead of slippers there was a bucket of water.

She glanced at the door and it was wide open.

Letting out a sight, she moved the bucket and looked for her slippers around her room. Nowhere to be seen, she resigned her efforts and decided instead to just get dressed.

Breakfast can wait, she decided.

She settled on a nice light blue dress with ruby red shoes. It was one of her favorites with it’s white dots. Dots weren't a very good fashion design but she loved how she felt in the dress. It made her feel confident, if that made sense. And she really needed the confidence.

She walked out into the kitchen and found a note on the table.

“Out looking for a job!

Meelie is at work and the boys are at school.

Have fun and don’t get lost!

Love,

Feli

P.S. If those two rats broke into your room, tell me. Means they don’t get any desert!”

On the other side of the note were a few numbers with names. Oswald’s home phone, Ortensia’s work phone, Mickey’s work phone, Amelia’s work phone, and Goofy’s work phone.

Next to the note was a house key, it had a note attached that said the address.

Minnie smiled and looked around the kitchen for something small to eat.

After rifling through the cupboards she sighed, nothing.

She went back to her room and grabbed her purse. She grabbed some money and stuffed it in there. She set the keys and the note in her bag as well.

Locking the door behind her, she began her day.

When she got outside she looked left then right.

Thinking for a bit she decided on going right. She came to the realization that she probably shouldn’t take many turns if she didn’t have to.

She walked straight for a while, looking at everything she passed.

Mainly apartments but soon she started passing shops.

Noticing a cafe, she stopped and entered it.

The smell of fresh pastries filled her senses and drew her in.

She sat herself down and stared at the menu. She decided on a small coffee but her food order took a little bit more time. Mostly she could read english, it was pronouncing it that was the problem.

Everything was so large! She was used to having an egg or even a small piece of bread with her breakfast. But this place? It served big waffles, eggs and bacon platters, why she wouldn’t think her stomach could fit it all.

She decided to stick with just the coffee and wait for lunch to really gorge herself.

She paid and left a nice tip.

Deciding to continue her walk she continued on. She saw a few cute clothing stores and she actually passed a toy shop. She would have gotten something for the boys but since they did the water slipper switch she decided they didn’t deserve it. Maybe next time.

Instead she stopped at a small but quaint boutique. It didn’t seem to have many people going in and out but it looked nice.

When she stepped in a woman came out from behind the counter and greeted her.

She was tall and skinny with such a lovely face. It was stern but softened for Minnie, most likely her being friendly to the customer. She had fair skin with breathtaking ice blue eyes. Her face was framed by straight blonde hair with a large purple headband tied into a bow. She had a flowing white shirt with a long lavender skirt.

“How can I help you today?” Her voice drew Minnie out of her daze.

“Ah, I’m just looking around.” Minnie couldn’t help but gaze at her. She really wanted to be her friend.

“Oh you have such a lovely voice.” The woman mentioned absentmindedly. Minnie thanked her and complemented her voice back. It wasn’t very remarkable but it was nice to be polite.

Minnie asked her to show her what she recommended.

The woman’s eyes lit up and she nodded.

She showed Minnie around the entire store. They each shared their knowledge about fashion and made light conversation.

At one point though Minnie began to lose what she was saying and bashfully admitted it to her.

The woman simply nodded and used smaller and easier words to understand.

There were chairs in the corner and the woman walked them over to them.

Minnie listened to her talk. She lost her far too many times to say Minnie was a part of the conversation but she did like hearing her.

Time seemed to flow by and soon Minnie glanced at a clock and noticed the time.

She quickly shot up and explained to the woman she needed to leave.

“Oh, of course! By the way, my name is Daisy. You’re welcome to come back anytime you would like ah?...”

“Minerva! Though my friends call me Minnie.” She interjected.

Daisy took her hand and gave her a warm smile.

“Well, have a good day Minnie.”

The way she said it almost made her stay for another hour.

Instead though she grabbed her bag and left the boutique. She walked back to the apartment and couldn’t help herself from smiling.

What a lovely day!

She walked through the hallway and up the stairs. When she got to the door she unlocked it and met the warm smell of pasta.

She set the key back into her bag and went to her room.

On the way to it, she could hear Amelia lecturing her sons.

“-And I saw the water bucket, don’t you dare try and tell me you didn’t do that.”

Minnie couldn’t suppress a small giggle. As much as she knew the boys would get on her nerves, they reminded her of when she was younger. Mandie and her were never that close as sisters. But when they were small she had been told they were inseparable. She had small memories of doing similar things as the boys to their father and they would all end up laughing afterwards.

She closed the door to her room and took off her hat and shoes. She set them on a chair next to the dresser.

She still didn’t know where her slippers were and decided to put her shoes back on. Hopefully her slippers would turn up eventually. These shoes were very cute but after a bit they dug into her ankles.

She stepped out of her room and sat at the kitchen table.

Felicity was stirring a pot full of tomato sauce and smiled at Minnie when she entered.

“Did you have a good day?” Minnie responded with a nod.

“That’s good, I haven’t found a job yet so I’m gonna need to go hunting tomorrow. Oh I bet you aren’t used to a dinner as small as this one. I miss the dinners in France already.” She said with a sigh.

Minnie nodded and told her about her day.

When the food was done everyone was called in to eat. Amelia said grace and had the boys apologize to Minnie.

She tried to articulate that it was no big deal and was like that when she was a child but had a bit of trouble. She had Felicity translate for her and let out a sigh. She really needed to learn english.

After dinner they chatted at the table while the boys went off to bed early for what they did that morning.

They stuck their tongues at Minnie when they passed her and went along with their mischief.

Minnie decided to go to bed as well, she didn’t feel like watching Amelia and Felicity fawn over their friendship.

She changed into her nightgown and looked out the window from her room.

Cars continued to drive by and blare their horns.

She laid in bed and smiled when she remembered Daisy's sweet smile and her lovely piercing eyes.
