Chapter Text
Out of everyone who went stargazing yesterday, Kou was the only one who hadn't caught a cold. Mitsuba was huffing on the couch. He didn't even have enough energy to complain. He's burning up again. Kou quickly switched the now warm cloth with a new cold one. He was constantly scrambling around to make sure Mitsuba was okay and comfortable. How unfortunate. Headache, stuffed nose, and a sore throat. Guess I have to make soup. He took the blender from the cabinet and plugged it in. Then he took a jar of peanut butter and filled the blender with water and the peanut butter. As that was blending, he cleaned and cut some ginger, peppers, tomatoes, and onions and put those in a seperate pot with boiling water. He checked if they we're ready and added the mix of peanut butter and water. For the sore throat. Obviously Mitsuba would hate it, so he decided he should make lemon medicine. But they had no lemon juice nor honey. Figured he'd have to quickly go to the store, he switched Mitsuba's cloth and stored the soup in a thermos. All of this just for a sick friend... He grabbed his keys and wallet and started to make his way to the supermarket.
It's so hot. Mitsuba woke up 10 minutes after Kou had left. Gotta get water. He took the blanket off himself and sat up. It's cold now. He put on his slippers with his blanket draped over him and trudged over to the kitchen. As he was pouring the glass, he noticed a familiar blue thermos. He opened it and an unusual aroma filled the air. He made soup for me. That's so... His thought ended as he made his way into the shared bedroom. He hid the thermos under his bed and went back to the couch as if nothing happened.
Kou got off his bike and started to make his way into the supermarket. A familiar breeze hit him as he entered. Lemon juice and honey. Nothing more, nothing less. He got a small basket and started to make his way towards the spice aisle. Weirdly, the honey and lemon juice were both there. As he took the lemon juice, a familiar face approached him. "Oh hey Kou! Are you making medicine for Mitsuba?" It was Yashiro, she had a black mask on with a bottle of water in hand. "I can't believe everyone but you got sick on Friday." Kou smiled at her. More normal conversations, nice! "Yeah Sakura was pretty angry when she woke up today." The two of them strolled down the aisle continuing to look for different things. "So what's with you and Mitsuba?" She asked as if she was completely serious, no jokes located. "What do you mean? Are you two planning something?" Yashiro laughed her usual sweet like laugh. "You really are dense." She took her bags and left. Kou stood next to the exit with his bags in hand and his face still red as ever. I bought more than I needed...
Mitsuba laid out on the floor with his blanket yet again, hanging off of him. "Mitsuba are you awake?" He hummed in response as Kou went back to the kitchen and started to make the medicine.
"Kou can I get ice cream?"
"You need to have your soup first."
Mitsuba whined as Kou began look for the thermos he put the soup in earlier. "Where is the soup I put away for you anyways?" Mitsuba went quiet and completely wrapped himself in the blanket. "Sorry, but I'm going back to sleep." Kou sighed as he washed a smaller pot and grabbed a new jar of peanut butter. "Fresh soup is better than old soup anyways." Mitsuba whined yet again and threw the blanket off of his legs, "I don't like peanut butter and I don't want the soup!" Even Tiara never acted like this, he's such a child. Kou ignored him and proceeded to make the soup.
"Hey wake up I finally finished. And I made some lemon medicine you can have afterwards." Mitsuba continued to pretend to be asleep. Kou placed the bowl of medicine and soup on the table and kneeled down on the other side of the table. Mitsuba groaned and sat across from Kou with his legs crossed. "Why can't I just have the ice cream? I'm not even that sick!" He grabbed Kou's hand and placed it on his forehead. "See? A perfect 37 degrees Celsius and 98 degrees Fahrenheit!" Kou laughed, "No matter if you're sick or not, you still need to eat. I left you with no food to eat so this'll be your breakfast, lunch, and dinner!" He took the spoon and handed it to his clearly sick roommate.
"Now if you'll excuse me-"
"Feed me." Mitsuba deadpanned. Is he really serious? He's sick not unable to move! "Excuse me?" Kou wanted to laugh but he actually sounded serious. "Scientifically, food tastes better when someone else feeds you!..." Mitsuba handed him the spoon as he sighed and sat back down. Kou took a spoonful of soup and pointed it towards Mitsuba. "Say ah, my dearest sunshine!" "Eh?! What's with the stupid ass pet names-" The spoon quickly went into his mouth, quick enough to not hear any complaints. "This is actually pretty good. Maybe you should continue to feed me. That'd make it even better." Kou simply obliged and continued to feed him.
