!! SPOILERS FOR THE ANIME SEASON 5 (all the way through episode 11) !!
also the title is off of 'you're here that's the thing' by beabadoobee, and the chapters are based off the lyrics cus i'n not creative enough to come up with titles. (not a songfic tho)after the agency's name has been cleared and the world slowly gets back into the swing of things (with just the usual amount of chaos), poe pays a visit to a certain detective that he is definitely NOT in love with and has been worrying about for the past several days.. just to be sure his rival is okay (so that he can enviably best him with a novel, no other reasons).
i'm bad with summaries, basically poe and ranpo reunite after everything somewhat simmers down, and the world isn't completely being wiped out of existence ykyk :P there isn't much of a plot i just really wanted poe and ranpo to meet up and be gay. so here we are, enjoy.
HUGE shoutout and credit to my lovely partner (SadKazooIsSad) for giving me ideas, and helping me come up with dialouge and references in the last chapter (and listening to my delulu bsd theories)

Summary
Husk knows he messed up. Again. Between Charlie's "Redemption Express"—a disastrous, near-lethal attempt to make Angel Dust the next Sir Pentious—and his own knee-jerk, cynical outburst, he drove the porn star back into his shell.
Now, with a bruised wing from a surprise brawl with the Vees and the lingering guilt of throwing Angel under the bus (or, well, the anglic steel-tipped train), Husk is left nursing regret and burnt sugar-flavored booze. The hotel is too quiet, and the silence forces him to confront the messy truth: his relationship with Angel is a painful dance of one step forward, two steps back, constantly reverting to their dysfunctional comfort zone.

“I- what?” Angel swears he can hear and feel the dial-up internet tone rattle his brain stem.
Maybe he notices the internal dilemma Angel is having and doesn’t give a shit or maybe he just doesn’t notice. Husk stands and points at the right side of the bed. “You’re going to stay on that side of the bed.”

Summary
Angel shrugs, and then lets out a strained laugh. “I’m not exactly sure how to ask this, but can you dom me? Like platonically? Non-sexually? Fuck, I never thought I would be saying that.” Angel laughs again, and Husk can hear the tears forming as it catches in Angel’s throat. The spider is blushing furiously, eyes glistening, still chuckling under his breath; Husk is starting to worry that Angel is delirious.
The cat blinks slowly. “What exactly do you mean by that?”
“Can you…” Angel trails off, burying his face in his hands. His fingers claw at his hair. “I don’t know what I want. I’m so fucking confused. I need you to be in control right now.” Angel meets Husk’s eyes in a deep stare, and there’s so much confusion and terror in them that it nearly makes Husk cry as well. “I don’t care what you do to me…” Angel inhales shakily. “Just tell me I’m doing a good job at least.”

Trying to get clean, Angel deals with the unfortunate reality of his job without drugs to get him past the worst of it. Husk takes care of him when he drops.

Summary
When the dust settles after fighting off the extermination, Angel realizes he has a crush on Husk. This sucks, because that damn cat has already fought off all his advances and made it pretty clear he's not interested in Angel like that.

Husk had kind of called it quits on the whole love and sex thing for years now. But lately his body seems to have other ideas, when he starts waking up at night from dreams about Angel. This is shitty, because it's not like Angel would ever actually want him like that. Husk knew it was just all faking.
Angel could have anyone. He’d made that very apparently clear to Husk on several occasions.
And if Angel could have anyone, why would he ever want Husk?
