Chapter 5: School Life

“Morning kids,” Kuro said as he opened the door to class 1-A. A few days had passed since the quirk assessment and Kuro had spent most of his time in class 1-A, much to Aizawa’s displeasure.

“Morning Kuro!” Ashido bounded over to the man, “How are you doing?”

“I’m doing alright,” Kuro smiled softly back at the student, “What are you guys doing in school now?”

“Aizawa-sensei said we’re going on a field trip in a couple days, but he refuses to tell us what it is,” Momo replied, joining the conversation.

Aizawa noticed that Kuro’s expression darkened for a split-second. He could tell none of the students noticed his change in expression, nor did he expect them to. Pro-heroes are always supposed to hide their feelings so they could be shown in a positive light. Throughout his many years as an underground hero, he had yet to meet a person who can mask their identity better than Kuro. To the press, he was a complete enigma. He was a man of few words, always able to escape the press despite not wearing a mask at all. What’s even weirder is that he’s a completely different man behind closed doors. Kuro was, for all intensive purposes, a happy-go-lucky, snarky, sarcastic little bi-

“Yo Shota!” Aizawa muttered a creative slew of curses under his breath as the large man called his name, “I need to borrow a couple of your students!”

“Who do you want this time?” Aizawa looked at him with tired eyes. It was obvious that Kuro had done something like this before.

“I’ll take Shoto for now and get Kaachan when Shoto’s done,” Kuro replied.

“WHO THE FUCK LET YOU CALL ME THAT?!” Kacchan shouted. Pro-hero or not, he would only tolerate Izuku saying that.

“Well I did, of course,” Kuro chuckled, “Shoto, can you please come with me?”

Shoto wordlessly stood up and walked out of the room, Kuro closing the door behind him.

“Shoto, feel free to make yourself at home,” Kuro opened the door to a very messy office. Papers were scattered all over the floor to the point where the actual ground was barely visible. Shoto looked at the papers. One of them had MLA on it with detailed sketches of people, words scribbled next to each sketch. He decided that he should stay out of whatever Kuro was studying for the time being, sitting down in the chair across from Kuro’s desk.

“What did you need me for?” Shoto asked, suspicions flying through his head.

“Your dad,” Kuro started, causing Shoto to shoot up. Of course it was his dad. It was always his dad. His dad would always set people up for extra training and handouts so he could “fulfill his dream” or whatever bullshit, “is a fucking asshole.”

Shoto stood stunned. No one ever had the gall to badmouth his dad, ever. Endeavor was just too much of an imposing and powerful figure.

“He cornered me the other day and asked me to train you,” Kuro explained as he sifted through mounds of paperwork, “I told him I’d help you out, but I never stated how I was going to help you.”

Shoto sat back down, leaning in, his eyes full of intrigue. He had absolutely no idea what Kuro was planning. He wasn’t used to this, so he figured he would at least hear the man out before coming to his own conclusions.

“I’m planning on taking Enji to court.”

“What?!” Shoto, all but comically jumping out of his seat, shouted, “How are you going to do that?”

“I know a lot of things,” Kuro tapped his temple twice with his index finger, “including Enji’s illigal quirk marriage and child abuse.”

“H-how…” Shoto trailed off. How did Kuro, a man who he had only met in person less than a week ago have all this knowledge?

“I have an… ace up my sleeve, so to say,” Kuro shrugged. Shoto narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

“Did Fuyumi take you up on this?” Shoto asked. He knew that Kuro’s child was in Fuyumi’s class as Fuyumi absolutely doted over the small child, but he didn’t know much else.

“Quite the contrary,” Kuro replied with a sigh of exasperation, “If Fuyumi found out about this, she would surely protest. She’s too caring for her own good. Plus, she’s taken care of my precious daughter well enough, so I feel obligated to pay her back somehow.”
“This makes absolutely no sense,” Shoto deadpanned.

“Now you’re catching on!” Kuro exclaimed with mock enthusiasm as he grabbed a yellow envelope, placing it on his desk between him and Shoto, “So, are you in or are you out?”

Shoto didn’t even have to think about it. “What do I have to do?”

Kuro walked back into class 1-A with Shoto, now carrying a yellow envelope. “Kaachan, if you will,” Kuro beckoned the rowdy teen as Shoto sat back down.

“Call me that again and I’ll fucking gut you,” Kaachan grumbled as he stood up, stalking out of the classroom.

“That’s the spirit,” Kuro said brightly before closing the door.

“How does he even do that?” Denki asked.

“What, deal with Kaachan?” Izuku asked, “I don’t know. He told me he had a friend who acted like him a long time ago.”

“Get back to work,” Aizawa grumbled.

“But Aizawa sensei, we’re in homeroo-,”

“Does it look like I care?” Aizawa glared at Sato, who was the one who was cut off. Everyone shut up, wondering what to do as Aizawa had not handed out any work.

“Now what the fuck do you want?!” Kaachan shouted as he slammed the door behind him.

“You know, I’ve been hanging with Izuku for a few years now,” Kuro gestured for Kaachan to sit, “He speaks highly of you.”

“What the fuck?” Kaachan spoke aloud. He was aware that Kuro lived next door to Izuku but he didn’t expect that stupid fucking deku to blab on about him. In hindsight, he really should have. Izuku never shut up about him.

“So fucking what?” Kaachan snorted as he glared at Kuro, “Like I care about that fucking Deku.”

“Oh stop being such a tsundere,” Kuro waved his hand at Kaachan dismissively, “You know you respect him. He worked hard to control that quirk, by the way.”

“So you do know something about his quirk!” Kaachan shouted while standing up from his seat, “You better explain yourself right fucking now!”

“Katsuki,” The temperature of the room dropped several degrees as Kuro gave the young man an icy glare, “That is not my story to tell. All you need to know is that he worked hard for what he has now.”

“If you’re only going to talk about Deku, then consider me gone,” Kaachan turned to leave.

“I don’t know about you, but I think you see him as a rival,” Kuro’s words caused Kaachan to stop in his tracks.

“What the fuck did you say?!” Kaachan whirled around with explosions crackling in his palms, “I do not see that worthless fucking deku as a rival!”

“Stop lying to yourself,” Despite the explosions, Kuro didn’t seem bothered by Kaachan’s demeanor, “We both know that you thrive under competition. Why don’t you openly start competing with him? It’ll help the both of you.”

“Fine, I’ll consider it,” Katsuki turned around again, “You fucking happy?”

Kuro smiled, “Absolutely delighted.”

Aizawa Shouta wasn’t having the best week. On top of having a bunch of problem children this year, he had Gisei Kuro, who might as well be a problem child himself, shadowing his class constantly. Although he did bother the other classes from time to time, he didn’t bother them nearly as much as class 1-A. He would be in class before school everyday, happily chatting with the students. During school, he would either be pulling students out of class or ruthlessly teasing whichever teacher was unfortunate enough to be teaching while he was in the room.

Shouta flopped on his bed and took out his phone. It was 9 pm, four hours before he was supposed to go patrolling as Eraserhead. He decided to check his email like a responsible adult. Most of it was spam and junk, but he then found an interesting email.

VERY IMPORTANT INFO: Nomu is not a human anymore. He died painfully as soon as the second quirk was injected into him. Recommended kill on sight. Weak spot is the brain.

Shouta narrowed his eyes. Between the entries were very detailed sketches. What unsettled him was the sketch of the Nomu. Whoever emailed them was right. The Nomu really wasn’t a human. Another thing that made Shouta wonder was that if all these high ranking heroes were sent this, why weren’t Black Charge and Endeavor included? They were both very prominent figures in the hero world.

For now, Shouta didn’t have any answers. He decided that he would think about this later and rolled over in his bed, ready for a nap.

“Papa, are you alright?” Eri asked. They were standing in front of her school. Eri knew she had to go, but she didn’t like the scary look on Kuro's face.

“Oh, I’m alright,” Kuro said as he ruffled Eri’s head, “I was just thinking about some grown-up stuff, that’s all.”

“Alright,” Eri nodded.

“Now get going, Eri. We don’t want to make Fuyumi wait,” Kuro smiled.

“Un!” Eri chirped before running off.

“Now,” Kuro turned around with the slightest hint of hate in his eyes, “Let’s get this shit over with.”

“Hey Kuro-sensei, do you want to eat lunch with us?” Mina asked. She was with Sato, Kaminari, and Kirishima.

“Sorry, but I have some business to take care of,” Kuro waved the students off before walking over to the control room. As he sat down by the main terminal, he took out a bag of cookies.

“Man, Inko’s cookies are always the best,” Kuro said while taking a bite. Inko loved to make Kuro cookies and they would even bake together from time to time. As he reached for another cookie, the alarms started to ring.

“So it begins,” Kuro thought aloud as he put the cookies in his pocket before replacing it with a pen drive. He waited a couple minutes until the door opened.

“Shit!” A familiar grey-haired man shouted with a certain nomu following not far behind, “It’s Black Charge!”

“Relax, I’m not here to arrest you,” Kuro tossed the pen drive to Shigaraki, who caught it.

“What’s this?” Shigaraki asked.

“The info you’re looking for,” Kuro replied with a smug smirk, “Yeah, I know what you’re after.”

“How the-,” Shigaraki stopped himself. Everyone was aware of Kuro’s extensive information network. It was practically undetectable, but Kuro seemed to know everything, “Why the fuck would I trust you?”

“You shouldn’t, Tenko,” Kuro spat. Hearing Shigaraki’s real name caused the villain to shudder, “Even though I know your plans, I know you will lose. So by all means, come at us. Something tells me your level isn’t high enough to win.”

“Don’t worry, I have cheats,” Shigaraki growled.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever. I’m going to go now,” Kuro walked out of the terminal room. Shigaraki didn’t care to try and kill him. Kuro wasn’t hostile at the moment and Shigaraki didn’t want to provoke him when he was in his optimal fighting range.

When Kuro left the room, Shigaraki immediately went over to the terminal and plugged in the thumb drive. If it was holding a virus, at least UA would be the one suffering from it. Much to Shigaraki’s surprise, the thumb drive contained all the info he needed.

“Black Charge, huh?” Shigaraki said with a dark tone as he scratched his neck, “I have a feeling that next time we meet, one of our health bars will be hitting zero.:
