“ You sure you wanna do this, nephew mine? ”
Derek gave Aurora a nervous smile.
“ Not anymore, I’m not ,” he said, his hands shaking ever so slightly higher out of nerves.
“Don’t listen to her, kiddo, you got this,” Peter said, patting him on the back as he made his way around the kitchen table to the living room. Probably off to get his ass kicked at Mario Kart since Stiles enjoyed beating him. Derek let out a shaky breath and moved his red piece, skipping over Aurora’s piece and putting it off to the side of the board.
Aurora raised a brow at him.
“ Do me a favor, Derek ,” she said. She was doing that thing she always did with him, where she wasn’t asking, but demanding. He’d always hated it but at this moment it terrified him more than it irked him.
“ Yeah? ” he asked.
“ Never try to learn chess. ” Aurora picked up one of her few remaining red pieces, jumped four of Derek’s, and landed on the end line. “ Queen me, ” she said, curling her hand in a gimme gesture.
Derek sighed. He only had two pieces left and there was nowhere to move that Aurora wouldn’t immediately take them. “ Isn’t it ‘King me’? ” he asked weakly, having already halfway admitted defeat.
“ Not when I play ,” she said smugly, crossing her arms over her chest and leaning back in her chair.

Stiles and Scott were the ones to bring Boyd and Erica into the fold, Boyd was more because he was very protective over Erica. Aurora, on the other hand, found Issac. She and Derek had run to get dinner and her magic started pulling her.
“ What is going on, Aura? ” Derek asked, looking over at her.
“ Something is pulling me. Can you… ”
“Point the way. ”
She carefully directed him, letting her magic tug at her. She knew that something was very wrong, that she shouldn’t be able to feel the tug of a wolf that wasn’t a part of her pack. When they came to an alleyway and Aurora saw the boy looking up in fear of the man looming over him, she panicked.
“ Call the Sheriff and then come help me. I don’t care what Peter thinks of what I’m about to do, ” She said, throwing open her door and running down the alley.
As she got closer to the man looming over the boy, her magic wrapped itself around the man and slammed him into a wall, holding him there. As she knelt down next to the boy, she watched as his eyes started to glow. She carefully placed a hand on his arm.
“ It’s okay, little one. My name is Aurora Hale, and I am here to protect you.”
The boy looked startled.
“ How are we talking in my head? ”
“ It’s a pack bond. Your wolf reached out in fear and latched onto the closest pack it could find. Can you tell me your name? ”
“ Issac Lahey. What’s happening? Why are the police here? ”
“ I know the sheriff. My nephew called him when I saw you. When I move my hand, I won’t be able to hear you, I’m deaf. Will you be okay to talk to the sheriff? I won’t leave you alone, I promise, ” She said, cupping his hand with her other hand.
He nodded.

Issac and Derek were cuddling in the guest room, both shaking out of their skin. Peter knew that this would be the first time Issac had seen his father since he was brought into the pack and he was scared. Derek was trying to calm him, to no avail. Peter gently tugged on their arms.
"Come on, I know something that will help."
They followed him to the master bedroom. Peter got on the bed first, then motioned for them to follow. Issac turned into a puppy and immediately wiggled his way in between Aurora and Peter, while Derek turned into his wolf form and curled up in front of Aurora. Aurora unconsciously pulled Derek in close, and he let himself fall into the crescent shape of her body. Almost at once, both boys felt safe.
"We’re right here," Peter whispered, scratching at the top of Issac’s head. "You're safe, we’ve got you."
Issac nuzzled more and more into Peter's neck as he spoke to his betas. Finally, an unfamiliar but welcome feeling of calm started to spread through both boys’ bodies. They thought of the love of their pack and, as it surrounded them, their eyelids finally started to flutter and they dozed off to sleep. Peter smiled at the calm that settled over the bedroom, watching his mate and betas sleep.

Issac stumbled his way home and collapsed onto the couch, burying his face in Aurora’s stomach.
“ What’s wrong, puppy? ” She asked, not putting her book down as she laced her fingers in his hair.
He heard Erica let out a snort of laughter.
“ I found my mates today .” He mumbled.
Aurora immediately closed her book and floated back to the shelf that it lived on.
“ And you are not okay with this? ” She said, shooing the other two out of the room.
“ I don’t know how to feel. I don’t know if they will even accept me since they are already together. I am so in love with Erica and Boyd already, I don’t know what I will do if they don’t accept me. ”
He moved his face so he could look out over the room. Aurora continued to run her fingers through his hair, trying to ease some of the worry that was coming off of him in waves.
“ Issac, my sweet puppy, your mate, or mates, in this case, are chosen by the gods for a reason. So, no matter what happens, you have to at least give it a chance to happen. I know that we haven’t really talked about mates, and that is a slight on me. But, we can talk about it all you want, when you are ready. For now, I want to cuddle with you and eat all my Oreos. ”
