Chapter Text

Aizawa was proud of his students.

It had been about a month since the incident broke out with Bakugou, yet all of his kids apologized to him in the first week. He thought that it might've taken longer for them to, but he was wrong.

He was standing in the teacher’s lounge, looking out the window, and saw his students playing around with Bakugou. They were all laughing, smiling like the world was bright, with no care in the world.

When the incident first occurred, Aizawa wanted to expel all of his students. Minus Bakugou, Kirishima, Midoriya, Todoroki, Shouki, Tokoyami, Kouda, and Sero. The rest seemed unfit to be heroes. But Yamada convinced him that he should teach them instead. Let them learn right from wrong. And he was glad he listened to his husband. Things might’ve turned out differently had he taken the harsher path.

From the experience, Aizawa learned a few things about his students.

One of the first was that he needed to get Bakugou to therapy. The kid had been through so much that therapy shouldn’t have been an option. It should’ve been mandatory. And with the recent event, he probably would have trust issues. That was something that Aizawa couldn’t stand his kid going through.

So he had taken it up to Bakugou. He casually talked about therapy and how almost all heroes went. How it helps them from spiralling into their deep, dark thoughts. The kid had contemplated, and decided that yes, he would attend therapy.

From what Aizawa could see, Bakugou was healing. He was more calm, had control over his anxiety and anger, and was open to them. He was glad that he had suggested therapy to Bakugou. Aizawa sometimes wondered what would happen had he not interfered. Would things have gotten worse? Or would his students teach each other a lesson? There was no time for what-ifs. Things already happened and life moved on. There was no use pondering about the possibilities about events that would never happen.

The second thing Aizawa learned was that Ojiro needed to have enough confidence to speak up about his thoughts.

After attending therapy for a week, Bakugou had walked up to him and talked to him about all of his classmates' apologies and how they did it. Through Bakugou’s extremely accurate retelling, Aizawa realized that his other children needed some help, too.

So Aizawa did what he thought was best. Debate class.

He split the class into two groups, making some of them (Midoriya, Bakugou, Iida) sit out. Hell knows what those three children would do if they were arguing about something they were passionate about.

Aizawa forced Ojiro to start. He looked nervous, not wanting the attention on him. He waited for Ojiro to start. They all did. It took him about 30 seconds to start. Ojiro started speaking his thoughts with a shaky voice. His opponent in the debate could barely hear him, and took advantage of this. Yayorozu was smart. She figured out what the whole point of this lesson was.

She attacked Ojiro about how he didn’t agree with the side he was defending. Things started getting heated. Ojiro started speaking louder and louder, not quite yelling or shouting, but loud that his voice filled the room. Bakugou looked shocked about how Ojiro spoke his mind. And Aizawa was proud that his student was able to speak for himself.

The third thing that Aizawa learned was the relationship between Bakugou and Kirishima. The two were dating. It wasn’t really a surprise, but he finally had concrete evidence of their love for each other.

One day, Bakugou’s therapist called him. Aizawa wasn’t expecting it, but he went to the room where they were having the sessions immediately. Apparently, Bakugou was having a bad panic attack, and he couldn’t calm down with the therapist’s help. Aizawa erased his quirk quickly, before things started escalating, but Bakugou was still gone from reality.

He kept repeating sorry and please don’t hurt me over and over again that it wretched Aizawa’s heart. He took a deep breath, calming himself down, and took out his phone. Aizawa dialed a number that he knew belonged to a specific redhead student and called him to the room.

It only took him a few minutes to arrive, and Kirishima had looked ready to tackle anything that was thrown his way. The moment he walked into the room and spotted Bakugou, the confidence wringed out to sadness. Kirishima walked closer to Bakugou, aware that Aizawa was erasing Bakugou’s quirk, and hugged him. Hugged him tightly into his chest and let Bakugou sob his heart out.

Aizawa heard Kirishima whisper honey words into Bakugo’s ears, and was reminded of him and Yamada in their early days. Ahh. Young love. He hoped that the two never broke apart and fought against all odds headed their way.

The fourth thing that Aizawa found out was Bakugou’s home life. His therapist was sworn to secrecy and had the patient privacy contract, but was obligated to inform Aizawa anything that was dangerous to Bakugou. Luckily, the therapist had Bakugou’s consent to share this private story to Aizawa, so he didn’t feel guilty hearing about it.

He did, however, feel anger pulsing in his veins. Anger that Aizawa never felt before,

His mom abused him. His mom told him things that his classmates once said. She called him a villain , a criminal , and worst of all, a monster. Aizawa couldn’t believe it. He had seen the Bakugou’s interaction in front of his eyes. How had he not seen it?

There was no time for him to wallow in self-pity. Aizawa had work to do. So he poured everything into making sure Bakugou was safe. There were charges made, lawsuits filed, and adoption files filled out.

Bakugou was officially part of the Aizawa-Yamada family, and Aizawa was not going to let anyone else hurt his son.
