His warm skin against mine was comforting, I was safe in his arms… and I knew he wouldn’t hesitate to protect me if needed. With the sun pricking my face, I opened my eyes only to be met with a pair of golden eyes looking down at me. I could feel his warm breath on my face, I smiled moving to cuddle deeper into his chest. I traced the veins of his arm with my fingers before getting bored and asking him the question tormenting me, “How long have you been awake for?”
With a sleepy expression on both of our faces, it was clear how intense the last night had been, but still, he found the strength to smile, “Not long, I was simply admiring how peaceful you looked asleep.” His voice seemed to be somewhat strained and raspier than usual, honestly, it was a good look on him. The calm rise of his chest invited me to lay my head back down, but not without leaving some kisses on his neck
His fingers drummed on one of my shoulders and he seemed to be lost in thought, “Is there something troubling you?” I asked after kissing his left temple.
“I’m afraid I might have been a bit brutal last night; will you be all right?”
My face melted into a softer expression, and I kissed his cheek before mumbling against it, “Of course I will, you don’t need to worry about me.”
I sat up rest my chin on his shoulder and fixing the rebellious hair in his face, his soft gaze looking at me always makes my heart melt. The way he talks is so soothing, it’s the only thing that can make me fall asleep.
“Y/N?”
I snapped out of my thoughts, “Yes?”
“Are you positive you are fine; I know you have a busy day”
I giggled,” Zhongli, I promise you I’m unharmed, I told you it happens that sometimes the body has to recover from the shock.”
He sighed, “Of course, I wouldn’t know, I haven’t done this in… a while, I do apologize if it wasn’t up to your expectations.”
“Don’t worry, it was wonderful, and you were perfect” I kissed his shoulder, slowly going up to his mouth and cupping his cheeks while his hands made their way down to my waist. After a couple of minutes, I broke the embrace reluctantly, “As much as I would love to stay with you all day, I have a lot to do.” I sighed anxiously before pressing a kiss on his forehead.
“May I accompany you on your commissions?”
“I would love to, but you also have a job, I don’t think Hu Tao would appreciate you missing a day just to spend the day with your Adepti girlfriend.”
“Right, well shall we get ready then?” I nodded and gave him a quick peck on the lips before pulling down the covers. I walked over to the drawers to pick up some clean clothes when I noticed he hadn’t gotten up and his face had a small tint of pink, I turned around, “Aren’t you getting ready?
“Let me admire you a bit longer.”
I chuckled and walked over to him and whispering in his ear, “You’ll have plenty of time to admire me tonight.” I kissed his jaw a bit, nibbling on the skin, before pulling away.
“I guess it’s a contract I can agree to.”
