Chapter Text
November 2, 79
Another missing case on Halloween, this afternoon you got the Tammy and Duckie case from your superior, He looked kinda sad about handling the case but you knew that the reason was because one of the victims: Duckie was his son.
- It seems to have a pattern.-you muttered looking at the information that was given to you about the case.
One or two unsuspecting children will go out to ask for trick or treat and never come back, their bodies never found... you never believed in the bogeyman legend, but little by little it seemed that the myth was real and you knew that it wasn't some mystical creature doing this, but someone in that town had secrets buried in their backyard.
- I shouldn't waste time, maybe with luck I'll still be able to find these children alive. -You took your notepad from your desk and Took your coat off the hanger as head your way to the last place where witnesses in the case said they had seen the children.
The place was far from the city, making you wonder what the children were doing there, the theory your co-workers raised was that they were attracted there, even though the possibility was great none of the witnesses who saw them said they had more someone with them.
-This place...I don't like it here...neither i like that house...-That house across the street, at the same time it brought you chills, invited you...and even contradicting the aversion to the house, you crossed the street and rang the bell.
You didn't expect anyone to answer even more the way the house was probably abandoned or something like that, but your thoughts are interrupted by a rabbit opening the door.
-Good afternoon dear? There's something i can help you with?-The Rabbit asked, you watched him for a few seconds the rabbit he had a rather frightening appearance and that made you quite uncomfortable.-It's ugly to stare.
- I'm very sorry! I'm detective Y/N! I would like you to answer some questions for me if possible.-Quickly taking your notepad out of your coat pocket, even though you felt somewhat uncomfortable with the rabbit's presence, you felt a kind of attraction for him.-Can we start with your name ?
-Pumpkin Rabbit, I should have introduced myself before love.-For someone with a scary appearance he seemed like a friendly person.
-Right right, could you tell me if you saw two children pass by here on the night of October 31?-PR put his hand on his chin, looking away from the detective with a slight pensive air.
-Kids? Would you have an image of them? Several pass here every Halloween.-You seemed unconvinced in the rabbit's answer, however when looking inside the house, you could see some pictures of children on the wall.
-This may sound weird, but may i come in?- If the rabbit had eyes you could have seen the confusion in his eyes, but after thinking a little about what to answer he just nodded opening the door further and making space so you could enter.
You walked into the house and looked at the photos, all of them had kids you remembered seeing in some missing person case that had been filed as unsolved or were still in progress.
-Dear who are they?-The sheep sitting on the couch asked Pumpkin.
-It's a detective they were asking me about a disappearance, they talked something about kids.-The rabbit replied looking at what you were doing.
-On here! These two kids here, Tammy and Duckie! They have been missing since the night of October 31st.-Pointing to the picture you can hear him chuckling lightly.
-Duckie and Tammy? Why didn't you say their name right away?- he continued to laugh, in a way it looked like he was making fun of you.-As you can see in the photo they came here and we gave them candy, after that they left.
-But why the photo?-Curiosity had the best of you, but this time who answered was the sheep.
-We take pictures of all the children who ask for candy, it's a way to remember them forever.-You didn't buy that answer, the fact that all those children had disappeared made you even more sure that there was something wrong with the residents of that one House.
-Right.-You said writing down your theories and then putting the notebook in your pocket.-Well I better go thanks for cooperating and have a nice day.
Before you could go through the door a hand grab your arm, looking back you saw that the one holding you back was Pumpkin Rabbit.
-Why don't you have dinner with us? A detective like you shouldn't have time to do something so how about changing your routine a bit and eating something homemade once?- Following your guts and your suspicion accepting that invite would be the same as shooting your foot, but against your better judgment you accepted.
-Eating something homemade once won't hurt anyone.-You gave a sigh as the rabbit let go of your arm, something in you said you were going to die today.
