Notes:

I had a bit of trouble writing this scene, but luckily I had the motivation and free time to work on this a lot. Thank you so much Puppy for being a fantastic beta and editor, this scene would not have been as good without your help!

Chapter Text

Sunny and Kel quickly turned the corner to a gruesome sight. A small boy was cowering at the scene, his dark blonde hair ruffled and dirty and his shell-pink flower pin tucked behind his left ear. Sunny immediately recognized the boy as Basil. Sunny’s face contorted with horror to see his best friend and accomplice face battered and covered in blood, his right eye a dark purple.

He was being held up by the neck of his green, now stained red sweater by a pink haired girl. The girl, looking to be around 16, was wearing tight black shorts and a top, covered partly by an oversized black jacket. On her head she wore a bright blue bow, and on the grass next to her lay a nail bat that looked to be hers. She had blue eyes, and her face formed a snarl that was directed at the blond haired boy in front of her.

“What’s that bitch boy? Gonna cry? Can’t take a few hits? I think it’s about time you meet Jenna!” The girl threw the boy down on the ground, and grabbed the nail bat. The girl looked at the bat, then ripped most of the nails from the wood, saying “I want this thing to hurt, but I don’t wanna kill ya. That would be messy, and too good for you!”

She stuffed the nails in a pocket somewhere in the inside of her black jacket, and screamed “Batter up, bitch boy!!!” The boy only had a few seconds to lift his head, before getting hit hard by the bat, sending him skidding back into one of the nearby trees.

All the while, Sunny and Kel watched in horror. Something was filled with rage at the sight of the battered boy. It seized control of the boy’s body, not caring for its hosts mental pouts and shouts of protest. It stormed over to the punk, hands clenched in fists, and shaking with fury.

The girl turned around, just to see the boy hop up a bit and bring down the back side of his hand onto her cheek, making it red.

The girl stumbled back a bit, more from shock than anything else. She looked at the boy, and said “…Sunny?” Regret flashed on her face, before a wave of anger covered it.

“What the hell Sunny!?!? I haven’t seen you in four years and the first thing you do is slap me!?!? Why did you do that, dumbass!?!?” Face filled with fury.

The boy screamed “YOU HURT BASIL YOU BITCH!!!!” They lunged at the girl, and punched her right in the jaw. The pink haired girl drew back once more, face twisted into a grimace. “Agh, what the hell Sunny!?” She pushed the boy back.

Everyone was silent. Basil was barely clinging to consciousness, his bloodied face filled with shock at the ear curdling scream, and violence. Aubrey was surprised to hear the guttural scream and anger from the small boy, but she quickly justified her actions to herself. They didn’t know what Basil had done to their memories.

Even Kel was in shock at the boy, before quickly recovering. “Sunny? That was pretty impressive! Even enough to rival my voice!” A smile quickly plastered itself on the tan one's face. He was slightly disturbed by the scene, but pushed the negative feeling back.

Sunny was the most shocked. Was that Something or him that screamed and attacked the girl? Or was it both? How could his voice even do that? Sunny started coughing, the toll of the scream making his throat hurt.

After a minute of that, his throat was feeling a little bit better. He felt something dripping into his mouth, and an iron-like taste filled his mouth. He brought a finger to his nose and felt something damp spread onto his hand.

He moved it to where he could see it, and was both surprised and slightly disturbed to see that the liquid wasn’t red, but an inky black. He quickly rubbed the inky substance off his finger before anyone saw it.

Kel was the first to break the silence. “C’mon Sunny, Basil doesn’t look too good, and we should probably get him home.” Sunny just nodded in response, not trusting his voice. Kel picked the flower boy gently, sympathetic for his beat up friend. Sunny trailed behind the two boys, leaving the girl in the park who looked seemingly dazed from what just happened.

“Sorry about that… Aubrey has certainly changed a lot since you’ve been around.”

Wait. That was Aubrey? Shit.
