Night of the WereKitty- Chapter 3

Safe at last

It was a bit tricky to shove Ebony through the window without being spotted, but for a huge feline, she was quite nimble as they returned back into the flat of the Groovy train. She placed herself behind the fallen sofa, while Super sat down on the single leather couch, clutching his head.

Ebony looked at him with worry and started to whimper. The hedgehog noticed and smiled.

“It’s ok. Just a little headache. But first; WHAT THE HECK WAS ALL THAT!? WHAT IS ALL…THIS??” he shouted in annoyance, waving his hands directly at her.

The beast then walked away down the corridor, her large claws booming down the hall. Annoyed Super followed her in pursuit; she was clearly way too big to fit into her bedroom. But then her large claw suddenly swung forwards to grab something on her cupboard, returning to her like a coil. The hedgehog was amazed by such an ability.

“Got anymore party tricks up there? What are you meant to be anyway?” Super asked.

The feline then placed a book in his hands. Unable to see it through the old writing and smudge marks, Ebony lifted up the fallen sofa with one hand as Super sat in the middle, opening the book. Ebony placed herself behind the sofa to hand her head down above Super and the book. Turning the pages, Ebony gave a quick squeak as Super found the page she worked on.

Reading it aloud, Super spoke.

“Create the perfect Halloween party trick by unleashing ghoulie spirits that will surely rock the joint. Wait a minute; is this what you were meant to do? Hang on something isn’t right…”

As he spoke something odd was wrong about the page. Carefully peeling the page, both of them looked in dismay to find it was a combination of two pages stuck together; the first one being torn in half. The magic ingredients were correct, but for the wrong spell. The correct page was then shown to both of them.

“Become the ultimate Halloween WereCreature. When the potion is taken and when the moon is up, you will be the star of the party and become the creature of the night. Well, this now makes more sense. So, when the moon was up-” Super stopped as he quickly took a glance at the window.

The moon was pretty high in the black clouds. Ebony’s tails whished back and forth and growled in frustration.

“You pretty much turn into this. Wait, how long does this potion last for?”

The feline returned back to the sofa and pressed her nose on the book again.

This time Super moved away to the table light to get a better read; Ebony’s black fur was getting in the way. The small print was hard to tell; even with Super’s eyes. Suddenly he saw his answer and a huge sigh of relief came from him.

“It says that it will only last for tonight; that by first sunlight, you’ll be back to normal.”

He could see her body relaxed, knowing she felt the same. Super returned back to the sofa exhausted as he stretched his head backward. But then a sharp pain made him stop as he rubbed his neck from where he was attacked. Ebony moved closer to him and rubbed her large cheek against his face. Super smiled and automatically stroked down her black fur.

“Don’t worry about it; it be gone by the morning. But why did you do all this?”

Ebony moved away and looked down saddened. She moved away from the sofa and slumped herself at the window sill, resting her paws to the open window. She gazed outside, watching the festival go by. Everyone was having fun and she really wanted to be part of it. Super Sonic came to that conclusion as well. She looked so happy today with the customers all dressed up, was it fair on him to stop her from having fun? One large sigh, Super smirked.

“Do you wanna go out?”

Ebony turned her head around in shot, her tail wagging frantically behind her. Her eyes grew with excitement from the sudden. Super laughed as he stood up from the sofa, smirking as he continued to tease the beast.

“You wanna go out, don’t you? Really? You wanna go out?”

But before Super could tease her as he spoke higher, the feline jumped up excitement and landed over at Super. The hedgehog yelled out as they both fell back down and the sofa with it, landing in a massive crash. He laughed as she continued to lick his face.

“Stop! Stop! You gonna get a spiked furball if you keep doing that.” Super laughed.

But then the hedgehog had a quick thought.

“Wait, what am I gonna do? I don’t think it be wise to out without some sort of a disguise.”

But as he asked the beast, Ebony looked straight at the corridor and jolted back down to her room. Peeping inside, Super watched as she was looking for something. Then in delight she bounced back down, holding something in her jaw. It was a small brown package. Confused Super took the package and rested it on the floor, carefully opening it. He took one last glance and looked straight at Ebony.

“You had this plan all along, didn’t you?” He smirked…

Throughout the whole city, the inhabitants were continuing on with the celebrations. But now the big guns had arrived, as the pop-up tents revealed ghoulish and amazing displays and shows of the odd and unusual. Children gathered round to see the wonders, with some of them of course keeping a tight firm grip on their parents.

Suddenly in the mass of groups, animals were confused to see someone walking pass them and heading onto the stage. Then suddenly the lights all went out. Some of the children screamed in excitement as they closed in onto the stage. Racing to the front, they waited impatiently.

Suddenly a flash of light circulated across the stage and exploded into thousands of sparkles, gathering across the whole tent. There in a centre was one single animal, decorated in all shades of colours. With a click of their fingers, the colours exploded across the audience, changing as it merged across the tent. Families watched in awe as they spun around themselves to see trails of light along their path. Then the colours started to merge into shapes. The children yelled and pointed as they started to see familiar shapes as butterflies and birds silhouetted in their presence.

More clicks came from the figure as the glowing lights changed from a sinister red, to an enchanting blue. Children yelled in excitement as the shapes changed again, circulating each of the families. Some children were brave enough to try and touch the magic, only for the quick sound of pop and the magic suddenly darting away. The children screamed in delight as they started to chase down the magic and making them all go pop; like fuzzy bubbles.

But then the atmosphere changed, as the magic all returned to the figure from across the tent, to one single flame. Then the light started to change to show more of the figure on the stage. With applause, the figure stepped forward and bowed to them. There was no clue as to whom this figure was. The mask covering their face, only showed a spiral pattern, that was also glowing through the whole outfit and as the seconds passed, the “magic” moved and shimmered across down to his arms and legs. It was like the outfit was beaming with life…

Even though he couldn’t see the faces of the audience through the spot light, Super Sonic couldn’t help but feel slightly goofy with the outfit. It was after all a crazy, one second plan to do this, but hearing the applause, it was better then hear them scream with horror. So, after a few moments of the applause, he could feel himself starting to feel relaxed; relieved that the mask didn’t reveal his identity.
But why on Mobius, did Ebony choose such an outfit?

Back at the Groovy Train, he recalled trying on the suit for the first time…

He carefully slipped the outfit in the bathroom, hoping his spikes wouldn’t pierce the fabric. The heavy gloves had tiny symbols on them but extremely small for him to see what they were saying. They did however have some bars across the panel; where they there to inform him of something? Looking at himself in the bathroom mirror however he was disappointed. Carefully placing the mask over his face, it was indeed a boring suit. A small tight black jacket with a black t-shirt. Almost all of his yellow fur was in disguise, especially with the large hood around his head. Tucking the last strand of yellow fur into the suit, he brushed down the black pants and heavy-duty boots; which also had the same strange symbols.

There were no marks, no patterns; just plan black.

“Ok? What am I meant to do with this?” He asked Ebony who was waiting outside.

The beast smiled and simply switched off the bathroom light with one of her large nails. Super almost gasped, but stopped as he looked back at his reflection. Multiple colours danced across the outfit, changing colours as he moved around to see the back. Wearing the mask, the patterns merged together to come up with vibrant explosions of colours that glow in the dark. The gloves and boots symbols were now in full glowing view.

As soon as the light was switched back off, the suit’s light lowered back to the normal black body suit. The feline slid the book to him on one particular page. The hedgehog lifted it to see the words.

“You are now wearing the ultimate party suit; never be the dull one in the crowd. At night, the suit becomes a spectacular display and for the gloves and boots, they help you become the greatest showman there is; with the simple use of a click of your fingers or stomp of your feet. But be aware, that this suit is only powered by magic; so, use it wisely.” so your magic is making this work huh?” he asked Ebony.

Curious on what it meant. Super quickly switched off the bathroom light again. Again, the colours returned brilliantly on the suit. Super looked one more time at the mirror and clicked his fingers. Suddenly a burst a colour sparkled from his hands. Laughing, the hedgehog waved it above him. Like a Sparkler, the colours followed his movement. Even the feline made a low murmur watching him; was that a giggle he thought?

“Ok, I admit, this is neat. So where do you wanna go for a test drive then?” …

Now the suit was working in full motion on the stage. The sparkles danced around him, creating shapes and colours that mesmerised the families. The outfit was actually light and easy to move around as Super tried all sorts of concoctions with the click of his fingers and stomping his foot down. The gear was working up a treat.

Meanwhile Ebony was working back stage. Creating the smoke, it gave the mysterious atmosphere she wanted. Blowing up magic through her jaw, she watched as the children waved their hands to catch and magic through their fingertips. The beats then looked up and started to carefully climb up the pole, to the top of the tent. She wanted to make sure the back crowd was getting as much fun as the front. She waved her magic down and created all sorts of colours and patterns for the families to watch. Flowers blossomed across the floor, while changing into butterflies for the children to catch.
They did have a somewhat plan and she couldn’t believe that it was working so well. Looking down from the pole, Ebony couldn’t stop watching Super Sonic working on the magic down below. She could see his confidence getting better as he continued to click his fingers as he created golden rings across the stage. In a moment, he dashed forwards and jumped through each ring with a spin dash. The families watched and applauded as he gave another bow.

Natural charmer she thought. She was almost distracted, until she suddenly saw her cue.

“Ladies and gentlemen; boys and girls! Are you ready to meet the beast?” The hedgehog cried out.

The audience screamed back in anticipation, not knowing what trick he was going to pull next. They watched as the suit colour changed to a fiery blue and greens. With a click of his fingers, a beaming circle of light encircled him and spun faster as he moved further back. The children watched in awe as from the circle, a blue flame danced across the stage, forming into something bigger. The children watched; some a bit frightened as the flames altered to form the monster. The blue flames danced above the audience’s head and then suddenly exploded with multiple colours and rainbows. Fear suddenly changed to wonder as the figure came forward and next to him, stood the graceful and magnificent beast in all her glory. The blue flames boomed into flowers. In awe the audience applied.
With one quick run up, Ebony lifted Super on her back and ran on the stage as he shot out more sparkles from the gloves. The audience watched in as more clicks formed more golden rings in the sky. Holding onto dear life, the beast jumped through them with Super to tow. The hedgehog lifted himself up and jumped through a few on his own, only just landing back on the large feline. Each ring they passed through; the rings transformed to more unusual shapes as they crossed over the tent to the audience. They were loving it, and so surprising was Super as he smiled.

Super Sonic managed to quickly check the suit and saw that the magic was running out. This was their cue to leave the stage. Taking a bow, Ebony looked at him and nodded. Lowering her front, she too bowed down to their audience. Then one final big boom, Super clicked his fingers and smashed his feet to the ground, letting off a massive cloud of colours of dozens or glowed up images. As the audience applauded and the heavy mist had faded, both of them were nowhere to be seen….

By then everyone was heading to the centre of the city, where the final celebrations were to begin. Everyone still dressed up in their best costumes, they could not wait for the massive firework display in the sky. This is what Super Sonic had in mind; except for the massive tonne black monster kitty that he comfortably rested on. The black fur felt silky to the touch as they got ready for the fireworks, finding a quiet location on a roof nearby. Finally taking off the body suit, he opened a can of pop. Ebony opened her mouth as he poured hers down her throat.

“Happy now?” Super smirked.

“Very.” A low voice echoed through her voice.

“So, you can talk; figures.” Super joked as he sat back down sipping on his own drink.

“What gave me away?” She asked in a low tone.

“There was no way I was doing some of those magic tricks, so figured you be casting a spell here and there. Is that you wanted to do tonight?”

“Pretty much. Just didn’t expect I fall into this spell instead. But the children seem to enjoy it; even you looked like you were enjoying yourself mister ringleader?” She joked.

“Well, it just came naturally I guess; guess I should thank Sonic for that and his traveling circus.” Super replied, thinking back to the time his blue counterpart was once the mysterious Bob Bleaky.

Suddenly they could hear the crowds in the distance screaming out the countdown. Both of them stopped as the fireworks begun. Bangs echoed all across Metropolis, as the explosions boomed in the sky. The colours scattered in all directions. Both of them watched in silent. Ebony crouched closer to him as her body coiled around him as he sat down, leading her tail over his legs and placing her face next to him. The hedgehog smiled as he reached for the back of her ears. Suddenly, a low murmur of a purr rose from her voice. Both of them rested there, till the final firework faded in the midnight sky, with the moon hanging over the zone.

Finally, as the world called it a day, so did those two as they headed back to the Groovy Train. Too exhausted to clean up now, Super only noticed that Ebony was way too big to head inside her bedroom. The large feline was left confused as Super dashed inside. Seconds later, Ebony tried to see him but he was simply too fast. In an instant, the sofa was pushed away to form a mountain of duvets, blankets and pillows on the ground.

“Well, I think that will do.” He said as brushed off his gloves.

Yawning, the feline automatically stepped onto the duvets and curled herself in a ball. It looked more of a cocoon as Super Sonic pulled the duvet over the black feline. The hedgehog called it goodnight as he was just about to approach his room, until something shot out from under the duvet. Ebony extended her long arm and grabbed his foot. Super was confused as the feline jolted his leg and pulled him under the duvet. He tried to get away but clearly Ebony wasn’t having none of it as she wrapped her tail around them and her large claws blocked his escaped as she hugged him from behind.

“Fine fine fine, I’ll stay. But will you stop licking the quills? You gonna get one bad fur ball with all that.” He joked.

She then rested her face unto him and purred on his chest. There was no way Super could get her off him as her sheer weight pinned him down. As the purr continued, he started to change his mind and simply waited for her to fall asleep. But as the purr continued, his eyes started to close on their own. Sooner than they hoped, the both of them were vast asleep.

And as the night ended till the morning, the first rays of the sun shone down on the city. Through the flat window, the rays shone straight to the made-out sleepover. Ebony’s body reverted back as she fell asleep, the last bit of the potion had finally ended. Ebony opened her eyes a bit as she raised her hand, to see it had been returned to normal. She couldn’t help but feel saddened that the spell was over, but as she looked at her side, Super Sonic was still fast asleep. She couldn’t help but smile as she closed her eyes and fell back to sleep…

After a few days, the Halloween decorations were down and the celebrations had ended for another year. The Groovy train was all back to normal as Super greeted their guests. After their little midnight adventure, they both promised that this would be their little secret; especially from Pyjamas.

Ebony continued working in the office until Pyjamas shoved a newspaper in her face. To her horror, there was an article of the eventful night with the “mysterious performers” picture bang in the centre.

“Care to explain young lady?” She asked as Pyjamas wasn’t so fooled.

But the feline wasn’t in the mood as she didn’t feel well. Something was stuck in her chest. She excused herself as she quickly headed back to the flat to grab some fizzy water from the fridge. Then in a heap of coughs, she felt sick. She coughed out something horrendous, but then she suddenly gasped to see yellow quills in her furball. Then she heard Pyjamas sneak up and cry out.

“You got some explaining to do; the both of you!” She called out as she headed back down to collect Super Sonic.

Her instinct was to get the kettle going; this was going to take a long time to explain…
