Chapter Text

Gathering her thoughts Rose took a deep breath and turned to face The Doctor. "Right. You need to go home."

"Rose-" The Doctor looked her dead in the eyes, "-you can barely use the TARDIS shower, let alone navigate and hijack an alien ship."

"Charming. I'll make it work, anyway I'll have mum with me."

"Rose you know how little reassurance that is. I need to come with you. For your safety, as well as mine."

You need to go home while I try to sort this mess out." Rose spun The Doctor around and gently pushed him in the direction of home.
"No way José. That's not happening. I've got to help you." The Doctor spun back around and started marching towards the ship.

"No Doctor! You need to go home. It's dangerous and exhausting and you're injured and I'm not risking your life. Not this time." Rose grabbed The Doctor's wrist and pulled him back to her side.

"Rose we've already done this once today. I don't have the energy to argue with you."
"Good, now, Go. Home."

"But Rooooose." The Doctor pouted, "I wanna come with youuuuuu."
"You sound like a child. You can't come with me you're injured. Now please go home."

With one final frown and a stamp of his foot, The Doctor spun around and marched stroppily back towards his house. Even through his annoyance his faith in Rose shone through. No matter what he told her, he knew she would try her best.

He just hoped her best was good enough.

Meanwhile Rose and Jackie were heading towards the massive ship in the sky. While The Doctor and Rose had been walking there (before Jackie had injured The Doctor) The Doctor had explained how to reverse Transmat beams and therefore how they would be able to get back on to the ship.

Rose was muttering, repeating The Doctor's words over and over, trying to commit the instructions in to her memory. Unfortunately for Rose, The Doctor's instructions had been largely in alien-techie abbreviations and descriptions. This meant that every other word was practically in code.

Oh well, she'd just have to work it out for herself.

"Mum what would you say an epoxie-macha-ree…non would be?"

"Rose what on earth are you going on about?"

"The Doctor mentioned it. I think it would be important for the Transmat reversal." Rose explained briefly, "and what's a neutron displacement beam when it's at home?"

"I would assume its a beam that displaces neutrons, Rose." Jackie stopped and turned to face her daughter. "Stop your fretting! You'll work it out as you go. I believe in you."

The rest of the walk was endured in absolute silence. There was nothing left to say.

Notes:

I'm running out of ideas tbh.
