Chapter Text

Philza has begun to consider a child leash.

Tommy, bless the boy’s adventurous heart, keeps pulling at Phil’s arm every few minutes. He’s being somewhat patient, not trying to run off or anything, but every time the boy sees something new...he really tries to remove Phil’s arm.

“Tommy, I appreciate you not letting go of my hand, but you’re making my shoulder sore. Could you please tug my hand a little less?” Phil chuckled a bit, hunched over as the boy tried to pull him back down to look at a snail on a flower.

“But dadza, look at his funny eyes! Did he get scared so badly that they popped out and never went back in?” Tommy asked, tail wagging.

“No, his eyes are always like that. He’s a snail.”

“Snail.”

“Tommy, can we keep going now? We were supposed to be home by now but-”

“Shit!” Wilbur’s shout cut Phil off, as well as caused the man to turn his head quickly in the direction of said shout.

“You’re not old enough for that kind of language mister!” He scolded, but he was smiling. It was a bit funny hearing the boy cuss.

“Sorry, I almost fell. The ground is slippery right here,” Wilbur pointed down at the ground, “My hoof sunk into it a bit, feels wet and sticky. Now I’m dirty.”

Techno looked down and huffed, “Your fur looks just like that stuff, you can’t even tell there's anything on you. Are you sure you’re telling the truth? Maybe you just want Phil to carry you the rest of the way.”

“What? No! I’m being serious, there’s sticky ground on my leg, look at it!”

“Oh I seee…” Techno grinned, “You’re just naturally dirty! Dirty Wilbur!”

“Hey!”

Phil laughed as he watched the twin piglins argue with each other. He shook his head, “Boys, calm down. You stepped in mud, Wil. It’s like dirt, but wet.”

“Mud!” Tommy shouted happily.

“Why does mud exist? Why is it the same color as my fur? I had this color first, mud should pick a different color,” Wilbur crossed his arms and huffed, ears flattening back.

“I hate to break it to you mate, but mud has existed way longer than you.” Phil laughed.

“I want mud too, Phil! Can I get covered in mud?” Tommy asked.

“Absolutely not.”

~~~
“What’s that?” Techno asked, pointing at a bird flying above them, “It looks like you.”
“That’s a bird, Tech.” Phil chuckled, “And it’s not like me. The only things we have in common is the ability to fly and some of the noises we make. I’m not a bird.”
“Birdza.” Wilbur snickered.
“WHAT?!”
~~~

Tommy had started to get tired, so now Phil was carrying him. This walk was supposed to be a half hour, but it has nearly been an hour now. At least with Tommy in his arms, he doesn’t have to stop to stare at as many things.

The other two boys were holding on to his wings by this point, more focused on keeping up with Phil than with looking around now. He could tell they were tired too. He’d be tired too, if he was a kid taking in so much new information, having to walk for so long while doing so.

“Phiiil...how much longer until we get there?” Wilbur asked, tugging Phil’s wing a bit.

“Shouldn’t be too much longer, bud. I promise.” He smiled back at the boy, “We would’ve been there much sooner, but Tommy wanted to see every bug possible.”

“He tried to eat mud too,” Techno nodded a bit.

“Yes, he tried to eat mud too. We’re almost there though, trust me.”

“How will we know when we’re there?”

“Well...you’ll see the roof of a building, peeking over the trees,” Phil grinned a bit, seeing the roof slowly enter view, “Then, once we get to the trees, there will be a clearing with the house in it. There’s a small garden full of...well, not exactly full. It’s got a few crops, but certainly not a full bed of them.” He smiled and stepped past the trees, turning towards the other two with a sleeping Tommy in his arms. He backed up and flared his wings excitedly, “Welcome home, boys!”

Wilbur and Techno stepped into the clearing slowly and stared up at him. They looked at the house just behind him, the small garden near it, the various things scattered about. Techno’s snout scrunched up, he was trying not to cry, but his tail wagged. Wilbur’s ears went up as his eyes filled with excitement and tears.

“Tommy,” Phil smiled softly at the two of them and gently pat the sleeping piglin, setting him down on his feet as his eyes opened, “Tommy, I know you haven’t been napping long, but I think you’ll want to see this.”

Tommy yawned and rubbed his eyes, looking around for a bit before staring at the house. His tail slowly started wagging, speeding up as it dawned on him. He cheered and ran forward, only to be caught and spun by Phil with a laugh.

“Let’s go inside, yeah? We’ve got to figure out how you boys want your room to be, after all!”
