Chapter Text
Andrés returns to the palace in a daze, feeling dizzy and lost. He's running on automatic, relying on his horse to get them both safely back home. A couple times he almost falls off his mount.
A dragon.
An honest to God dragon. He somehow managed to get the (not totally unwelcomed, and he still didn't know how to feel about that) attention of a dragon. By the time he reaches the castle he's half convinced it was all a hallucination, product of a curse or a contusion. Or maybe even a fantasy concocted by his dying brain on his last moments after the attack.
When he goes to give his report to Sergio about the situation and explain how it is that he's not only alive but also that most of his attackers are now dead, his brother seems incredulous. Andrés can't blame him, he is feeling exactly the same. Meanwhile Raquel laughs until she cries. He recounts the encounter to them (leaving out some details like just how handsome he found the dragon or how blue his eyes were and also the location of the cave) and promises to hand in a written report the next morning before taking his leave.
Later he retires to his chambers and relaxes in his bath with some wine. He sits there in the warm water lost in thought. He has to go back to see the dragon at least once, he has no other option seeing as the creature saved his life, magic dictated so. Furthermore a life debt was an extremely powerful thing, the creature could have asked for anything but instead he had asked for such a simple thing as his company. Plus Andrés couldn't forget the gleam in those sapphire eyes. The hope and happiness when Andrés had accepted his request. How they gazed at Andrés as if he was something precious.
He groans and cranes his neck, rotating his shoulders and trying to let go of all the tension. He would go back to the cave and inform Martín that he wasn't interested in being courted. He couldn't deny he was attracted to the marvelous creature, even his dragon form was something breathtaking to look at, but Andrés had given up on finding a partner after his fifth marriage. He knew he was difficult to love and deal with and he had finally accepted he wasn't made to be in a relationship. However if the dragon still insisted on collecting his debt Andrés would be happy to befriend him, not to mention that having the friendship of a dragon could come in handy.
Mind made up, Andrés sighs and slides down the tub, plunging under the warm water. He still doesn't understand how he ended up in that whole mess.
