Chapter Text
April was fast approaching and gardens in South Korea were coming to life again. Spring is probably Soo Young’s favorite season; the temperature is right and cherry blossom trees are beautifully blooming. She made a mental note to spend time at Spring Cheeks Park for a whole day to savor a much needed break, and treat her senses with the lovely flowers.
The Petitzel CF was filmed without any hitch despite the small accident that involved her and Seung Chan. She didn’t do much work for that project since the former Project Manager was able to finish all the work before handing over the position to her. Seung Chan managed everything during the shoot so she took advantage of that opportunity to stare at her ultimate celebrity crush, Kim Soo Hyun. He was so handsome that she kept staring at him until that annoying man baby ruined everything.
She arrived early at their office building and parked her red Hyundai at the slot nearest to the elevator doors. “Woohoo!” the perks of being early. She went to their office and focused on the work that needed to be done.
It was a quiet day because her team members were working outside. They were busy prepping the location of their new CF that will be filmed next week. By lunch time, they will be back to tackle the numerous paperwork they need.
Another boring day of her signing a ton of documents that she could barely understand. It’s been a month since Seung Chan started training her. He’s a perfectionist when it comes to checking her progress and it’s been causing her stress. She did her best and it wouldn’t hurt if he at least acknowledged that.
Lunch break was about to start so she gathered her things and went out to buy lunch. When she got back, her phone rang when she was walking towards the direction of the pantry.
“Yeoboseyo?”
“Ms. Noh, this is the front desk, we have a package here for you. Please come here to sign the delivery receipt.”
“I’ll be right there.”
Yes! The Vogue magazine featuring her ultimate crush Kim Soo Hyun has finally arrived! She has been waiting two whole days for it to arrive. Half running, she reached the front desk in record time. She signed the delivery receipt, took the magazine and ran back to the pantry. This must be a world record because she did that in less than a minute after receiving the call.
As soon as she entered the pantry she immediately put her lunch on the table together with the magazine, sat down on a chair and carefully unwrapped it from the courier’s packaging. She was unaware that someone was observing her the moment she came into the pantry. It was the relentless cockroach named Nadia Pilherm. Her brother Alexander was thwacked dead by Soo Young before.
“I might be a cockroach, but Kim Soo Hyun is my idol, too. Now that Soo Young has his new magazine, I’ll have to get closer so that I can see his handsome face.” Nadia reasoned. She flew towards it but Soo Young saw her and immediately took the magazine away.
“Arrrghhh, I was so close! Don’t be stingy, Soo Young! A glimpse is enough for me.” Nadia cockily shouted as if human Soo Young could hear her.
Determined to get a glimpse of any of Kim Soo Hyun’s Vogue pages, she flew around the magazine while Soo Young was flapping her arms like a chicken to stop her from getting near it. She started to shriek because Nadia kept flying around her. It was then that Seung Chan entered the pantry and immediately yelped when he saw the flying cockroach. Both he and Soo Young were shrieking together, with Seung Chan sounding like a fallen and shaken tenor.
“Seung Chan, help me! We need to kill this cockroach!”
“Why should I help you! Ahhhhhh! Cockroaches disgust me!”
Nadia finally stopped flying around. She got tired of chasing Soo Young and landed on the floor to catch her breath. Soo Young took the chance to run to Seung Chan.
“Please take this magazine and…”, before she could finish what she was about to say, Seung Chan had quickly taken the magazine from her.
“This is perfect for killing that cockroach!” He shouted while silently walking towards Nadia, intending to squash her with the magazine.
“No, no, no! Not my magazine, I was going to ask you to keep it somewhere safe! Seung Chan, give it back to me now!”
“What’s wrong with you?! It’s perfect for killing this insect! Stop blabbing nonsense before this cockroach flies and starts chasing you again.”
Soo Young won’t allow him to use her precious magazine that way.
She suddenly jumped onto his back and tried to snatch her magazine from him. He almost lost his balance, good thing that he was able to hold onto the wall using his left hand.
“Soo Young, what are you doing?!” The two struggled, Soo Young was trying to take the magazine from his right hand while Seung Chan was avoiding her. He finally lost his hold of the magazine, it landed on the floor and opened exactly on the page where Kim Soo Hyun’s handsome face, with his hand seductively touching his lips, was displayed.
Nadia was so delighted to see what just happened and she took this once in a lifetime opportunity, she flew and landed directly on the magazine. It felt like heaven to stare at Kim Soo Hyun’s handsome face up close.
“If only I could stare at you all day, I can die happily.” If only cockroaches can smile, that is what Nadia did.
Soo Young was livid when she saw this, but before she could shoo the cockroach away, Seung Chan, like a flash of lightning, closed the magazine, squashing poor Nadia while she was still admiring her idol.
Admit it or not, that’s a skill. Duh.
“Noooooooooooo! You dumbass moron! Why did you do that! I’m going to kill you!” Soo Young was so angry that she saw red.
Seung Chan didn’t know what was wrong with Soo Young but he decided it’s better to run for his life before she actually kills him! While Seung Chan was running, he accidentally bumped into Ju Ri and Jae Su.
"Hey, Seung Chan, is the devil chasing you?" Jae Su laughed when he saw how terrified his friend was.
"Jae Su, get out of my way! I need to hide!" A few feet away, a furious Soo Young appeared and Seung Chan started to run again.
“Whooah!” Ju Ri almost lost her balance when Seung Chan accidentally bumped into her. Jae Su was quick to hold her still.
“Are you okay, Ju Ri?” asked Jae Su.
“I’m fine, what’s wrong with him?” Ju Ri wondered.
She saw Soo Young running towards them. Jae Su turned around and saw Soo Young, too, and they swiftly moved aside, clearing the way before the bull-like Soo Young crashed into them.
“I think Seung Chan did something terrible, I’ve never seen Soo Young get this angry.”
“Jae Su, let’s follow them before someone gets killed.” Ju Ri volunteered.
Seung Chan, running with all his clumsy might, finally found an empty office room where he could hide. He went inside but Soo Young already saw him and followed. This soon-to-be-dead man is now cornered.
“Soo Young, please, calm down. Why are you angry? I just helped you kill the cockroach but it looks like you are ready to strangle me to death.” Seung Chan tried to appease her.
Fuming mad, Soo Young couldn’t help firing back, “That magazine now holds a dead cockroach over Kim Soo Hyun’s face. Do you know that is reason enough why I’m now seriously thinking of choking you, you fool! I waited patiently for that magazine and I’m adding it to my collection. You ruined it and for that, you’ll have to pay with your life!”
“Please, be reasonable! I didn’t even know that Kim Soo Hyun was featured in that magazine. You can’t blame me for what happened,” he breathlessly stated his defense.
Hearing this, Soo Young calmed down a bit. But she remembered that this clumsy fool didn’t even listen to her when she tried to explain earlier.
“Of course, you didn’t know but I tried to tell you. Instead of listening to me you focused too much on killing that damn cockroach!”
“What did you expect? We’re both disgusted by it and my instinct is to kill it as soon as possible.”
Seung Chan started to back away from her and looked at the door to escape again. He didn’t notice a pen on the floor and stepped on it causing him to slip and land on his back while Soo Young, who agilely followed him, also stepped on that same pen and slipped, too. She clichély landed on top of him, banging the side of her face on his broad hard chest.
“Ugh!”, a surprised groan came from both of them.
Seung Chan’s ears turned red and Soo Young also blushed, her cheeks glowing in a beautiful shade of pink. No, the time didn’t stop. Hell, she would not let it stop because she detests every word from and every skin pore owned by Baek Seung Chan. She tried to stand up by pushing onto the floor for support but she slipped again, her full upper body landing squarely on his chest almost knocking the air out of him.
She stayed still for a while to feel if she broke any of her bones and hoped she did not break any of his.
Seung Chan who spoke first, “Gwenchana, Soo Young?”
With his face inches from her forehead, he had a look of concern she now had imprinted in her mind. It took a while before a “Dae, gwenchana,” was heard.
Not at all known by any soul in this lovely universe, Seung Chan barely breathes, not because of the impact when Soo Young fell on his chest but because of the proximity of her beautiful face, framed by some loose strands of her long silky hair. With her eyes still closed, he could see her long lashes kissing her rosy cheeks.
She slowly opened her eyes and looked up at him. "What about you? Are you hurt?"
He took a deep breath and his senses was filled with this sweet and warm scent which he could not name. "I'm... I'm okay. I think."
"Good." She sighed and gave him an embarrassed smile. She put one palm on the floor and the other on his chest to prop herself up, he held her upper arm to guide her.
It was at this moment that Ju Ri and Jae Su found them.
“Omo!” Both were so surprised that their brains froze and stared at the two people on the floor.
