Chapter Text
Ever since the happenstance in the hallway, it was as if the universe tried to ensure that the pair of you bumped into each other at every possible instance. Sometimes, you two ran into each other quite literally. It was quite the event if one of you happened to be having a bad day during the run-in.
~~
Nothing but bad things happened ever since you woke up. You slowly slipped into consciousness with a happy murmur into your pillow, enjoying how cold your room gets when you kindly asked Jarvis to keep the AC blasting.
Your hand blindly reached out and slapped around the nightstand to find your phone, to which you yoink off the charger and wake it up.
The serenity of naturally waking up went to a standstill as you stared at the time. It was currently 9 am.
You have an exam at 9:30 on campus.
By subway it’s an hour ride, by car with morning traffic it’s a 90 minute drive.
Now, you weren’t sure if your heart stopped completely or it’s beating so fast that you can’t feel the beat, but you were up in an instant.
In a flurry of sleepy crusty-eyed panic, you threw on pants and relented to just wear the shirt you were sleeping in. Grabbing your phone and your notebook filled with loose paper from past quizzes, you sprint out of your room. When you were to turn the corner to rush to the elevator, you face-planted into a different wall. The sheer force of your panicked speed and the immovable wall caused you to comically bounce back with your papers flying into the air.
“At the very least, you could say good morning before you assault me,” Loki said plainly as he looked down at his own shirt and gingerly brushed the spot that your face rebounded from. He waited for some kind of witty comeback that he’s come to know you for over time, but when he got nothing in return, that’s when he decided to spare you a glance.
There you were, on the ground, eyes staring up at the ceiling but not quite focusing on anything. It was like a quick session, going through the seven stages of grief before you settled on acceptance. In your acceptance, you’ve physically given up and laid in your sea of papers and study materials for an exam you won’t make it to.
“Hey.” Loki tried to get your attention, taking a few steps towards you to nudge your shoulder with his foot. “It looks like I killed you, get up before someone gets the wrong idea.” He wasn’t that worried about it, but he was definitely worried about your lack of sarcastic responses.
If you were off your game, he’d get bored once again. That can’t happen. He didn’t care about your wellbeing, he cared about his own entertainment.
He didn’t care about you at all, nope.
How preposterous.
“What time is it?” You asked, slightly above a dead whisper.
“Why?” When you wouldn’t budge as he continued to prod your shoulder with his foot, he crouched down beside you. “You look like you got hit with a proverbial car, what’s got you in such a mood?”
You couldn’t help but crack a smile and a snort at Loki’s honesty, “I have an important exam at 9:30 and I have no way to get there on time.”
It didn’t seem as if Loki sympathized with your plight with how silent and stoic he stayed. However, he lowered himself further onto the ground so he could sit next to you with his legs crossed. “Think about where you want to go-”
“Is this a weird rolepl-”
“Quiet, just do it.”
You huffed and took a deep breath, closing your eyes and imagining the front door of the lecture hall you had to be in.
After a minute of not getting much other instruction from Loki, you grew slightly impatient.
“Well?” You asked before you cracked an eye open to realize that you were most definitely not in the tower anymore.
It took a moment or two of confused blinking before your brain caught up with what just happened.
“That beautiful bastard..” You gasped as you scrambled to your feet and looked around the entrance of the lecture hall you had to be at.

After a few hours of solitude and mindlessly thumbing through tomes that he has read countless of times, he heard a familiar and rapid thumping of feet approaching his door. The corner of his lip quirked up as he heard knocking against his door and a familiar voice calling out his name.
“Open up! I know you’re in there, you hermit, let me in! You got nowhere else to be!”
That miniscule smile on his face disappeared immediately. He took his sweet time raising himself from his bed and walked to the door. As soon as the door clicked open with a retort ready to leave his lips, he got knocked back and had a sudden armful of you.
“You beautiful bastard, thank you for your voodoo,” You said appreciatively with your face in his chest. Honestly, you wanted to give him a hug to show your appreciation, but now that you were here, you remembered that you were genuinely touch-starved so there, against his chest, you stayed. I understand why people covet boobs, you’ve reached Nirvana.
Slightly disoriented with someone suddenly in his space, Loki’s arms were stuck in their raised positions. In any other situation, he would have harshly corrected you that his work with his powerful seidr is not ‘voodoo’, but the inner workings of his mind came to a halt. His hands twitched slightly, unsure of what to do in this situation. Yes, Loki is aware of what hugs are, but he was unfamiliar with what to do when it was directed to him. It had been decades since anyone physically interacted with him with nothing less than malicious intent in mind.
That’s quite the stalemate the two of you were in.
Loki’s hands were in the midst of lowering to rest against your upper back before you pulled away and took a small step back.
“I swear to you my undying fealty, your highness,” You saluted Loki with your face stoic in faux seriousness.
“Undying fealty, you say?” One of Loki’s eyebrows raised up, a slightly amused look on his face.
“Undying fealty,” You confirmed with a slight nod, your hand staying up against your temple as you stood in a respectful salute.
“Then kneel.”
As soon as the command left his mouth, you dropped to one knee with your head bowed. He probably has control issues and wants to feel like he has control over something. If this gives him a peace of mind then that’s the least I can do for his teleportation trick.
Staring at your lowered form, Loki’s mouth formed a small ‘o’ as he crossed his arms and had one hand inquisitively rub against his jaw.
“You will recognize me as your new God.”
Loki genuinely wasn’t ready for you to take it seriously.
