Chapter Text
Carina struggled to get the unlock the front door giggling to herself as the keys jingled and the door eventually fell open taking her with it. She continued to fumble around in the low light managing to kick the door behind her and drop her bag to the floor before using the side table to steady herself to stand up straight again
“What?” Maya was shaken from her sleep by the sound of the front door slamming
“Carina?” The blonde asked sleepily smiling when she saw her wife was clearly drunk
“Ciao bella” Carina smiled as she lost her balance taking off her heels
“Hi” Maya greeted her back as she pushed herself off the sofa “…do you need some help?”
“I’m good” Carina replied before tripping again
“You sure?” Maya giggled as Carina stumbled into her arms
“Maybe a little help” Carina smiled and pulled her finger tips together
Maya hooked her hands under Carinas thighs and lifted her up to carry her upstairs
“Maybe I should come home drunk more often” Carina smirked suggestively
“That is not what’s happening here” Maya smiled back as she helped Carina out of her jeans
“But you’re undressing me, and I’m sexy” Carina smiled back
“You are sexy, very very sexy” Maya added pulling off Carinas top “…But you need hydration and sleep otherwise someone will be clingy and whiny and cuddly tomorrow” Maya laughed as she threw one of her station shirts at Carina to sleep in
“You love my cuddles” Carina pointed back
“Too true Mrs DeLuca-Bishop” Maya smiled back
“Dammi un baci Captain” Carina smirked indicating for Maya to come closer
“Always” as Maya leant down to kiss the Italian Carina placed her hands on Mayas hips and flipped them so she was straddling the blonde
“Now what?“ Maya asked with a grin as her hands rested on Carinas thighs
“Now, I show you how much I love you” Carina smiled as she peppered Mayas torso with kisses slowly making her way down Mayas body
The skies outside were grey but that didn’t stop the daylight that began to creep through the half drawn curtains intruding Carinas closed eyelids, she slowly came around pushing a hand to her head as she did
“Mannaggia” Carina groaned out as she heard the light chuckles of her wife next to her
“Good morning beautiful” Maya leant over to place a kiss on her wife’s lips as Carina slid under the covers to hide from the bright light
“Maya please turn the light out” Carina groaned in response
“The light isn’t on” Maya laughed back wrapping her arms around Carinas waist and pulling her in
“Why is it so bright” Carina mumbled her head not reappearing from under the covers
“Because it’s morning” Maya chuckled joining her wife under the covers
“It’s too bright” Carina grumbled
“You’re so cute when your hungover” Maya kissed Carinas nose and watched as an embarrassed smile spread across her wife’s face
“How about we spend the whole day here, in bed, under the covers with lots and lots of sex” Carina asked her voice husked and her accent thick
“I’d love to Dr DeLuca but-“ before Maya could finish her sentence the bedroom door flew open and all three children bounced on the bed
“Mommy, Mama… why are you under here?” Andrea asked as he pulled the covers back
“Are you making a fort?” Eleora asked as she clambered between the two women to give Maya a hug
“Not quite a fort, more like a tent” Maya replied looking down at her daughter who lay in her arms
“Can we make a pillow fort downstairs?” Andrea asked “…its rainy outside so we can’t go the park”
“Sure thing bubs, but mama isn’t feeling too good, so how about we go start it and Mama can join us when she feels better” Maya spoke as she sat up seeing Carina wince at the noise level in their bedroom
“Okay, let’s go. Els I’ll race you” Andrea shouted as he made his way to the door quickly followed by his sister
“Come on Melee let’s leave Mama nurse her headache” Maya stood up and picked up her daughter who squirmed out of her arms again and back to Carina
“Bye bye mama” Emilia patted Carina forcefully on her head then kissed her before crawling back to Maya and raising her arms to be picked up
“I’ll be back with water and painkillers soon” Maya smiled as she watched her wife curl back into bed groaning at the pain in her head

“Maya?” Carina woke up to Maya running her fingers through her hair
“No it’s your other wife” Maya smiled
“smettila” Carina groaned through light laughter
“How are you feeling?” The blonde asked climbing onto the bed and opening her arms
“Like I’ve been hit by a truck” Carina replied crawling into Mayas embrace hearing the light chuckles “…stop laughing at me” Carina grumbled
“Here have some more water” Maya reached over to the glass of water she’s brought up “…or shall I make like Jesus and turn it into Merlot” Maya smiled
“You know the Bible doesn’t specify the grape” Carina mumbled trying not to laugh at Mayas awful joke
“…Where are the kids?” Carina asked pulling Mayas arms tight around her
“The twins are rebuilding their fort and the baby’s napping” Maya smiled
“Why are they rebuilding?” Carina furrowed her brows and looked up at her wife
“Cyclone Emilia decided to bulldoze it down, on reflection it was actually quite funny, Leors and Drea didn’t think so though” Maya laughed
“Ah!” Carina sighed as she listened to the story before settling into a comfortable silence
“…Maya my head hurts” Carina whined a few moments later
“So that’s where Andrea gets it from?” Maya spoke with a smirk
“Cosa?” Carina sighed
“The whiny little ‘Maya help me I’m in pain’” Maya joked back as she moved to the bathroom to retrieve some painkillers
“Maya either cuddle me or leave me” Carina protested
“Come here” Maya lay down next to her wife again as Carina entangled their limbs feeling the need to be held

Carina finally found the energy to get out of bed and join her family in the living room. The Italian made her way down the stairs to see all three children playing on the carpet in front of the sofa as her wife lay there watching them. Carina saw her opportunity to crawl into her wife’s arms and settle on her chest, as Carina leant down to crawl into Mayas arms two small hands protested her movements
“No mama!” Emilia shouted followed by a playful scream as she jumped onto Maya “…my mommy” Emilia cuddled into Maya making both women laugh
“Milia she’s mine” Carina laughed trying again to hug Maya, with this Emilia climbed between the women and lay her body over Mayas so Carina would have no option but to crush her if she lay down
“No! My mommy” Emilia squealed pushing Carina away every-time she tried to lay her hand on Maya “…love you mommy”
“I love you baby” Maya laughed at the dramatics as she lifted the child in the air and kissed her making her daughter giggle as Carina settled the other end of the sofa further away from her wife’s embrace than she’d like
“My best friend mommy” Emilia cuddled into Maya and lay there as she let her eyes grow heavy
“Hey, baby, how about we let Mama in on the cuddles” Maya whispered as she received a nod against her chest. She lifted the toddler to lay at her side before she pulled Carina forwards to lay against her chest, once Carina was settled Emilia crawled into Carinas lap and fell asleep
“How are you feeling?” Maya whispered in her wife’s ear
“Like my brain might actually pound out of my head” Carina winced at the pain
“How much did you drink? I haven’t seen you this hungover since Travis and Emmett’s New Year’s Eve party after the twins were born” Maya laughed drawing patterns on Carinas arms
“I don’t know, the wine it just kept coming I don’t think my glass was ever fully empty” Carina admitted as she tried to remember the night
“So never again?” Maya laughed
“Never, I’m putting a 4 bottle limit on my drinking from now on” Carina mumbled as her own eyes began to close
“Four bottles” Maya asked incredulously
“Si, four bottles” Carina shrugged
“Mommy your phones ringing” Eleora ran up to Maya passing her cell as the content look on Carinas face fell as she knew she was about to lose her human blanket listening to the voice on the other end
“You have to go” Carina sighed
“Yeah I do, I’m sorry” Maya sighed as she sat the pair of them up so she could slip out from under her wife “…I’ll be back though” Maya smiled and leant down to kiss Carinas forehead before placing one on a sleeping Emilia too
“I love you” Carina made sure Maya herd her
“I love you too”
“Where are you going mommy? Can I come?” Andrea asked noticing his moms saying goodbye
“I have to go to work bubs, there’s a fire and people need help” Maya smiled picking up her son
“Okay, make sure you come home please” Andrea added as he cuddled Maya before being set down again
“That’s always my main priority” Maya smiled
“Bye Mommy” Eleora wrapped her arms around Mayas waist and squeezed her tight
“I’ll be home as soon as I can” Maya called back as she made her way out the door leaving Carina to nurse her headache with three children
Carina settled back onto the sofa EmilIa still asleep in her arms, the pain in her head was on its way to subsiding when an argument between the twins quickly made the headache resurface
“Drea no!” Eleora screeched way too loud for Carinas liking
“Eleora that hurt” Andrea replied just as loud
“Mama!” the twins shouted together
“Troppo forte” Carina scolded as her twins shouted for her
“Eleora hit me” Andrea whined
“Andrea stole my piggy” Eleora protested
“You didn’t have to hit me” Andrea shouted back
“I did Drea you always take my piggy when I’m playing with it and you never ask” Eleora justified
“Eleora please, Mama has a sore head” Carina tried to shush the twins
“We can share it Leors” Andrea offered picking up the pig again
“No, piggy’s mine” Eleora snatched the toy back off her brother with some force causing him to loose balance and fall backwards hitting his head on the fireplace
“Eleora, do sopra adesso! You need to calm down” Carina shouted as she moved Emilia from her arms into a pack and play before she picked up Andrea to inspect his head listening to her daughter stomp off up the stairs and slam her bedroom door
“I want mommy” Andrea whined into his mothers shoulder as she carried him back to the sofa
“Me too, bambino” Carina agreed kissing his temple
“I hate Eleora, I don’t want a twin sister anymore” Andrea said as he settled in Carinas lap laying his head against her chest
“Hey, don’t say that. You don’t hate her, you hate what she did. And I’m sure when she’s calmed down she will apologise and you’ll be the best of friends again” Carina smiled
“No she’s not my friend” Andrea demanded
Carina rocked her son in her arms calming his tears as she tried to find the right words to fix her twins friendship. Carina sat with Andrea for around 15 minutes before deciding it was time to go talk to Eleora
“Eleora, can I come in” Carina knocked on the door
“Ciao mama” Eleora was sat in the corner of her room with the stuffed pig still in her arms
“What was all that about?” Carina asked sitting down next to her daughter
“Drea always tries to steal piggy, he doesn’t let me cuddle with Simba so I don’t let him cuddle with Piggy” Eleora defended herself “…I didn’t mean to hurt him. It was an accident, I just want him to ask next time” the young blonde whispered
Carina could see her daughter was sorry and that she didn’t mean to hurt her brother
“Do you think that maybe we should go downstairs and apologise to Andrea?” Carina asked wrapping an arm around Eleora
“Si, mama” Eleora nodded “…I am sorry, I didn’t mean to”
“I know bambina, let’s go say sorry” Carina smiled standing up
The evening passed by relatively quickly, Carina made dinner for the children before bathing them and reading them a bedtime story the whole time wishing Maya was still at home to help her. Eleora and Emilia went to sleep relatively easily but Andrea continued to seek comfort in Carinas embrace still feeling sulky from the fight with Eleora and demanding on missing Maya
Carina settled him in the middle of her bed whilst she took a quick shower and got herself ready. Carina was about to dry her hair when she saw a text from Maya saying that she was about to leave the station and would be home in 20 minutes.
The Italian had every intention to wait up, and ordinarily she wouldn’t find it a hard task but as the pain in her head continued she found herself drifting to sleep with her son in her arms
“I feel you staring bambina” Carina mumbled as her eyes opened slowly
“You’re just pretty to look at” Maya smiled back
“Shush, dormire” Carina placed a finger over Mayas mouth
“Why’s Andrea in my bed?” Maya asked settling under the covers
“Long story” Carina sighed running a hand over her face
“Carina?” Maya reached over to hold her wife’s hand
“They were fighting, Eleora pushed him over and he hit his head on the fireplace” Carina replied
“Is he okay?” Maya asked inspecting her sons head careful not to wake him
“Yeah he’s fine, it was an accident, he had piggy” Carina gave Maya a tight lipped smile
“Ah! Piggy” Maya rolled her eyes “…Has she said sorry?”
“Yeah they’re friends again but he didn’t want to sleep in his bed and he missed you…” Carina replied “…so did I” she added with a whispered smile
“I’m sorry I had to leave you” Maya pouted sweetly
“It’s okay, we got through” Carina smiled
“How’s your head?” Maya asked caressing her wife’s face
“It still hurts, but I feel a lot better now you’re home and safe” Carina smiled leaving over her son to kiss her wife “…I need sleep though”
“Close your eyes and sleep then” Maya smiled as she settled for holding her wife’s hand as they slept
