Bzzt.
You hastily reach for your phone on your counter, adrenaline washing over you as you read the caller ID. Sticky fingers scrambling for the answer button as you try to squash down any stray anxiety, putting on your best polite tone, you answer it.
“Hi, this is Timothy from Fazbear Entertainment, is this (Y/N)?” A cheery voice resounds on the other side.
“Yes! Yes, that's me.” You respond a little too enthusiastically, better dial it back a bit.
You clear your throat unceremoniously, trying to be quiet about it, with your delay Timothy continues, “Great! I’m calling to tell you that you’re hired! Will you be able to come in today for on-boarding?”
You almost sputter, you actually got the job?!
“Of course! What time should I come in?”
“7 pm is when your shift manager will be in to teach you the ropes, though feel free to come in earlier to get yourself acquainted with the building and your new coworkers!”
“I’ll be there! Thank you so much.” The man on the other end gives a quick “No problem, have an awesome day!” and you both hang up.
You couldn’t believe it, you got your dream job! Okay no one really dreams of labor, but you’ve always wanted to work for Fazbear Entertainment, ever since you were a kid. You grew up on this stuff and had many parties there back when it was just a pizzeria, despite the allegations surrounding the place. The company’s come so far and you're more enamored with the shiny new animatronics, you even had your 21st birthday last year at the pizzaplex! That was one of the best birthday’s you’ve had in a while, despite all the Karen’s staring at you and getting mad that you got to meet the band before their kids did. It took a lot of saving, you paid good money for that, and by god did you love it.
Granted, you now don’t have the job you once did, hence the fact that you applied to the company in the first place. Hell, they pay even better than your old one! Though, it might just be labor shortage and the high turnover rates for new employees, but still!
You’re drawn out of your thoughts by the sound of crunching, looking towards your left you find your cat scarfing down a slice of your toast like it was plastic. You drop your phone hurriedly and go to take it from her. She immediately jumps off the counter and runs into your small living room, taking shelter under your couch. Happily gobbling down her prize as you fruitlessly stick your arm under the furniture. Huffing in annoyance you stand back up, dusting yourself off before realizing you just wiped strawberry jelly all over your shirt and pants. It was probably all over your phone too. Goddammit. You scrunch your face up in disgust, deciding to go change clothes in your room AFTER you eat. Can’t let that little predator take all your toast when you’re not looking! You don’t own that much bread, after all.
After cleaning up yourself, your kitchen and the crumbs under the couch, you check the time on the clock in your bedroom. 3 pm already? You hate waiting for things, the anxiety begins bubbling up in your stomach again just thinking about your first shift tonight. Don’t think about it! Gotta take your mind off it or else you’ll be so jittery you won’t show up. You set an alarm for 5 on your phone, thinking it best to show up at 6 instead of 7, employers love an early bird and it sets a good example for you. Getting off your bed, you make your way to your small clothes closet. Time to plan your outfit, gotta look nice on your first day!
You pick through your garments, occasionally putting certain ones on your bed. "Do I want to look more business or more casual?" You mutter perusing over the final candidates. Light blue polo with gray khakis, black 90’s style confetti patterned button down with dark blue jeans or your vintage Freddy Fazbear t-shirt with the baggier black jeans. You opt for the middle outfit, deciding the polo was too stuffy and you didn't want to risk ruining your favorite t-shirt. In your opinion, it screamed “I am professional, but I am also very fun!”.
You grab the clothes and go into the bathroom to take a quick shower. Afterwards you go through your normal routine, brush teeth, fix hair etc. Once you're 100% ready you check the time, 4:56 pm. Right before your alarm was set to ring. You turn the alarm off and decide to just head over now. You yoink your keys off their holder, making sure you have your phone and wallet before heading towards the door. On your way out you give your cat's head a little kiss and she meows softly at you, as if she's wishing you good luck. You head to your POS car and head off with only the radio to quiet your fast beating heart.
Within 30 minutes you're at your destination, towering in front of you was the pizzaplex, intimidating in its giant size. You take a deep breath before going in, passing by many patrons as you do. You try to put on a confident demeanor as you approach the front service desk run by a bored looking teenager. The teen was currently zoning out while her co-worker dealt with an angry mother demanding a refund. You reach the counter and as you do, you can now see her better. She’s got blonde hair with pink streaks in it tied into two high pigtails, her outfit was standard uniform but she wore a spiked choker with finger-less gloves, many piercings adorned her ears, and her make-up was that of the average scene-kid. Her name tag has ‘Chloe’ written on it.
You clear your throat to gain her attention, snapping out of her thoughts she puts on the most forced smile you’ve ever seen.
“Welcome to Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex, how may I assist you today?” She all but hisses out.
“Hi, I’m (Y/N) (L/N) the new night hire, I was wondering where I should go to meet the hiring manager?” You almost let your phaux ego slip, when did teenagers get so intimidating?!
At the mention of you being an employee she drops the smile and “cheery” tone. “That door over there,” She leans over the counter and points to your left, “go up the stairs and knock on the third door, Timothy should answer.” She leans back into her chair to dig something out of a box next to her. “You’ll need this.” She holds out a security pass to you. “It’s only access level 2 so don’t let it go to your head.” You gingerly take the plastic card from her, and give a quick, “Thank you.”
Before you walk away however, she catches your arm with a wicked grin on her face, “Oh and newbie? Don’t die, morning crew doesn’t like to clean up bl-” She’s yanked back into her seat by her co-worker in the booth who goes on to apologize and scold her for trying to scare you.
You brush it off and follow her previous instructions, the pass lets you through the door and you head up the stairs. You spot the third door that has “Timothy H.” labeled on it. Was it the same guy who called you? You think so.
Anxiously you knock twice on the door, there’s shuffling and a file cabinet being shut before an audible, “Come in!” is heard. You open the door and walk inside, a lanky man sits at the desk before you. He’s got tan skin, freckles, a gap-toothed smile, swept back brown hair and bright green eyes. His uniform was different from Chloe’s, it was gray and black instead of white and black.
“(Y/N I presume?” He asks and you nod, he checks the time on his watch. “My, you’re extremely early! Eager to start?” Timothy chuckles and you follow albeit nervously. “As you can probably guess, I’m your shift manager, now before we start the official onboarding process, I am going to need you to sign some waivers!” He says presenting a hefty stack of papers on his desk and a pen for you. You walk towards the desk and sit down in the guest chair, signing what feels to be a million sheets absolving Fazbear Entertainment of all liability for anything that happens to you. That should be a major red flag, but you’re determined not to let it get to you!
Once done, Timothy claps his hands together and takes the papers. “Awesome! We can now start you on the road to becoming one of our Superstar Staff!” Man, this guy was full of energy. He places the papers in the nearest filing cabinet, making sure to lock it before standing up from his office chair. He was also super fucking tall. Holy shit. He clears his throat audibly, you must’ve been staring. “If you would kindly follow me, I’ll show you around and explain what you’ll be doing here.” He says stepping out from behind the desk and towards the door, you gracelessly get up to follow.
Timothy leads you around and does most of the talking, he shows you all of the staff areas and how to get to them, leading to you two in the staff locker rooms currently. “I’m sure you can guess what this place is, your locker is over here with your new uniform inside.” He gestures to one towards the middle, it looks more banged up than the others. “I’ll be right outside while you get changed, here’s your key.” He hands you a small key to your locker. “Be sure not to lose it, any and all replacements come out of your paycheck.” He smiles before heading out the door you both came in.
You look towards your new locker, almost concerned as to what happened to it before brushing your anxiety off. Putting the key into the hole it clicks but takes a little convincing to open because of the damage. Inside you find a bright uniform, definitely different from the employees you’ve met thus far. It’s a colorblock button up with beige cargo shorts, the shirt is primarily a bright sky blue with a rainbow going down one side, littered with clouds, and the sleeves are white and pastel yellow. At the bottom there’s a complimentary pair of rainbow socks and are those…crocs?!
It’s not quite your style but you guess it’s not that bad, there’s plenty of alternatives that could’ve been much worse, it’ll just take some getting used to. You hesitantly change into your new uniform, slipping the socks and shoes on last. Overall it's… surprisingly comfortable? The button up’s material is soft, like pajamas and the cargo pants seem the same, the crocs make you feel like you’re walking on clouds. You try your best to check yourself out in the small mirror provided in the locker, everything fits nicely which was a bit of a shock, nothing too loose or tight. Nodding to yourself in your mirror you place your old clothes neatly in the locker and shut the door. Not wanting to waste anymore time you scurry to the entrance where Timothy was waiting for you.
As you exit and the man in question comes into view, you swear his smile got wider. Wait- was he smiling the whole time you were in there?! Man, this dude took his job seriously. “You look amazing! Now that you’re situated, let me introduce you to who you’ll be working with and where.” He says already walking in the direction of the main center towards the escalators. You have to hurry to keep up with his long strides, feeling a little embarrassed. “Now, there have been some changes to the position you applied to.” Timothy barely so much as glances at you while you both walk. “Still the position is at night like you wanted, you will be working from 8 PM to 6 AM, sometimes earlier give or take depending on the day.” He pauses to turn to you as you both ride the moving stairs upwards. “You will also be around kids for around an hour or so each shift, we typically close your area at 9 on weekdays and 10 on the weekends.” You falter for a moment, trying to think of a response, you’re mostly just confused. “I thought-” You try but he cuts you off, “Sound good? Great!” You both reach the top and he begins walking again towards a red set of doors with a sign above it that says “Superstar Daycare Pick-Up”.
You follow him down a neon-space themed hallway into a really cool looking lobby, there’s even a wall fountain! Passing by you take note of the bathrooms and the many Fizzy-faz machines around the place. There’s not too many people in here, mostly parents with toddlers exiting or entering. Timothy leads you past some ATMs into another room and the first thing you see is a gigantic golden statue of some sort of Sun person? Scratch that, it’s two statues, a Sun and a Moon to match. There’s a couple animated LCD screens displaying the same characters, advertising some kind of… candy…with the same theme. A couple parents are in here as well, one in particular is trying desperately to calm a wailing child on the other side of the room. You swear you see Timothy’s eye twitch a little as he leads the way to two podiums near the “slide into fun” entrance to what can only be assumed as the daycare below full of rambunctious kids. There’s a singular S.T.A.F.F. robot working at the other station opposite of you and Timothy.
“On the rare occasion, you will work up here, these podiums are for registration of all guests that enter the daycare and to distribute single use passes.” He reaches behind it and pulls out a rainbow wristband. “Those with month or year passes will have a plastic card that looks like this.” Timothy digs through his pocket and pulls out a brightly colored blue and rainbow card with the sun and moon characters on it. “This one is yours and is how you will be able to get in and out of the Daycare, your security pass only works for certain doors so take extra good care of your cards.” He steps towards the slide and gestures for you to follow.
“The Daycare is down there, where you will mostly work.” You both look down, it’s brightly colored just like everything associated with it. The music repeating over the loudspeakers is cute but will very much be grating over time. “You clean up after all the kids have left and keep an eye on the area, that desk over there by the door is your station.” Your fingers grip the protective netting as you try and get a better look at your new work environment. “How do I… get down there exactly?” You ask and Timothy chuckles. “You go down the slide silly!” Your ears go red at the thought. “T-That’s a children’s slide sir, I wo-”
“Sounds like quitter talk to me.” His signature smile slips off his face for a moment before reappearing once more. Your anxiety immediately starts flaring up and you quickly sit down at the slide entrance. You hesitate and right before you chicken out you feel large hands shove you forward. You vaguely hear Timothy’s words over your terrified scream as you slide down into the germ infested ball bit below.
