I still do

Chapter Text

Jimin was staying late at the studio to go through some of the routines with his classmate, Bogum.

Bogum was a fun person to be with, never failed to make Jimin laugh with the occasional jokes he cracked. He was also good at the way he danced and was always eager to learn anything Jimin had to offer him.

Overall, he was a boy Jimin didn't mind to spend time with, so that's why he didn't understand as to why Jeongguk had suddenly appeared at the door, glaring at the poor boy as if he'd done something terribly wrong.

"Do you mind?" Jeongguk asked, raising his eyebrows irritated at Bogum.

"But we were dancing." He trailed off when he noticed Jeongguk looked like he might punch him at any second.

"What's wrong, Jeongguk?" Jimin inquired, Jeongguk’s eyes immediately softened as he looked at Jimin.

"Can we talk?" If it wasn't for the urgent look on the younger's face, he would've asked him for another time or called him out for being rude to a stranger.

"Bogum-ssi, mind if we continue this for another time?" He smiled apologetically when the poor boy mumbled “sure" and began packing for his belongings and left the room.

"So?" Jimin raised his eyebrows expectantly.

"Um... l-let's go outside? Get some fresh air?" Jeongguk stuttered nervously, and Jimin wondered what could possibly make the younger this nervous.

"Sure... I guess? Just give me a sec to change."

"Right... of course." Jimin raised his eyebrows as the latter was still standing at the door like a statue.

"You're supposed to go out."

"Oh. Right. Sorry. I'll wait for you at the campus." And he left the room quickly.

After a few minutes, he was jogging towards the usual place he and Jeongguk would meet, quite eager to know what was so important for Jeongguk that had him come to his studio at this time.

The boy was pacing back and forth, clearly having a very serious mental discussion going on with himself.

When Jimin reached at him, they both spoke up simultaneously.

"So, what—"

"Did you say yes?"

"Sorry?"

"Did you say yes to Bogum?"

"About what?"

"Didn't he ask you out?"

"What do you mean Jeongguk?"

Jeongguk frustratedly ran his fingers through his hair, while Jimin was trying his best to decipher what the boy was talking about.

Why would Bogum ask him out when he already had a girlfriend?

"Look, I know I have no right to say this." He took a deep breath. "But please don’t do this to me." He glanced at Jimin and suddenly he was tearing up.

"Fuck." He cursed silently. "I know I ruined everything the moment I left you when you poured your heart out for me. I even made it worse by acting like it was your fault when I'd gotten rejected." He tried his best to maintain his voice steady, but Jimin noticed the way it cracked when he said "I didn't even apologize to you for what I said."

Jimin wanted to reach out when he saw the first signs of tears swirling in Jeongguk’s red-rimmed eyes, but he was stunned into silence and his mind was running wildly to catch up with everything Jeongguk was saying.

"I know I don't deserve you Jimin-ah. But seeing you with someone else will be like death to me."

"Why does it matter to you?" Jimin choked out the words, desperate to be given an answer he never allowed himself to hope for.

"Because I love you." At this point Jeongguk was trembling hard with tears. "And I'm so fucking mad because you have every right to not feel the same about me anymore, and I can't do anything about it. I want to hold you in my arms and kiss you every day and night but I have no right because you're not mine."

"Jeongguk..."

"And I'm sorry. So, fucking sorry for hurting you like that. And now here I am shouting at you as if I have any right to tell you all this when I treated you like shit."

To say Jimin was overwhelmed at the sudden turn of events was an understatement. He could barely get any words out. but Jeongguk was standing there, ever so vulnerable and he knew his heart couldn't take it anymore.

"What if I still do, Jeongguk?"

"What." Jeongguk breathed out, as Jimin took a step closer and looked up at him with his most sincere eyes, desperate to be conveying everything words couldn't do.

"What if I still love you?" He said, voice firmer this time.

Jeongguk cradled his cheeks delicately, eyes looking dazed and scared, as if everything might vaporize into thin air once he blinks. "You do?"

And all Jimin could do was nod, before Jeongguk kissed him. Slowly. Meaningfully. Lips slotting perfectly against his, moving in a peaceful pace that filled Jimin’s heart to the rim.

Jeongguk kissed Jimin as if he wanted to imprint his own language of feelings into the curve of Jimin’s lips. but Jimin didn't need words to realize the meaning behind the way Jeongguk softly caressed his cheek while kissing the plump lips of his affectionately, fiercely and pleadingly.

They only broke apart when their lungs screamed for air and Jeongguk was too dizzy to be able to stand on his legs so that's how they both ended up stumbling on the ground, with Jeongguk plopping on Jimin’s lap.

Both were high on cloud nine to realize the cold, hard ground beneath them.

"You kissed me." Jeongguk said excitedly, lips widened in a huge smile, Jimin thought his cheeks might tear apart. Not that he was much of a difference though.

"I may have."

"Can we do that again?"

And Jimin couldn't help but laugh at the way Jeongguk had turned into a literal baby. Jeongguk groaned in embarrassment and tucked his face into Jimin’s neck.

Jimin smiled as small kisses were placed at the crook of his neck. He softly guided those kisses to his lips.

"We can kiss as much as you want."

Jeongguk smiled fondly at Jimin, who mirrored the same expression towards him.

"I love you." He placed a chaste kiss on the order’s forehead, and Jimin felt his heart burst in happiness.

"I love you, too."

It didn't take long before Jimin’s back protested in pain, so Jeongguk stood up and reached for Jimin and yanked him in his hug. They began strolling aimlessly around the campus, with Jeongguk holding Jimin in his embrace so he could occasionally plant kisses into his soft orange hair.

"Take me on a date." Jimin said.

"Hmm...where do you wanna go?"

Jimin shrugged, "dunno. Surprise me."

"Noted, sir." Jimin giggled happily and Jeongguk wondered if anyone could ever be so in love with a person's laugh.

Later at night, when Jimin was safely cocooned in the warm embrace of Jeongguk, he mumbled quietly, "why did you think Bogum was going to ask me out?"

"He didn't?"

"Why would he? He's already dating someone." And Jeongguk sprang up.

"He is?" He asked incredulously, then his expression morphed into annoyance. "I swear I'll kick both of their asses the first thing in the morning."

"Whose asses baby?" Jimin stifled a yawn, he'd had a long day after all.

"Taehyung was the one who told me you were at the dance studio. Said Bogum is about to confess to you and you're gonna live happily ever after with him."

Jimin's face was expressionless before he fell into a fit of laughter.

"Do you seriously have no brain?"

Jeongguk pouted even harder and Jimin couldn't help but kiss it away fondly.

"I was so scared of losing you. I didn't know what I would do if you'd said yes."

"But I'm here now." Jimin brushed the fringe away from Jeongguk’s forehead tenderly. "Always be."

"I know." He placed his head on Jimin’s chest as he said "and I'll make sure you know that I'll be there for you too."

The next morning, Jimin woke up to the face of a boy who was looking back at him ever so dearly.
