Chapter Text
Sonic was seated in Tails' house, sitting on the couch looking at his communicator. Occasionally, he would start giggling or cackling and kicking his legs to contain his laughter. Tails was in the kitchen area, confused by what could possibly be so funny to him.
On said communicator was an opened group chat between three people. Perci and Staci the bandicoots with Sonic, all having the time of their lives.
pxrcii: okokOKOK STACI I AM IN THE KITCHEN WHY DO WE HAVE RAW POTATOES ON THE COUNTER?
stxcii: don't LOOK AT ME
blublur: you WHAT
stxcii: THEY'RE MEANT FOR TOMORROW SO WE CAN EAT SOMETHING
blublur: take a bite out of one
pxrcii: SONIC?.
stxcii: sonic. don't enable my sister.
pxrcii: wait brb stac sonic im gonna just
stxcii: PERCI.
blublur: yEAHHHHHHHHHHH LET'S GO
stxcii: WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO HME
pxrcii: wait that kinda tasted good
stxcii: PERCI I DIDNT EVEN FUCKING WASH THEM?
Sonic was now full-blown cackling and even hyperventilating at this point. He tried to calm himself to not be a bother to tails, but the moment he stilled he would begin laughing more.
"Sonic? What's so funny?" Tails asked, slightly confused. He was making food for himself in the kitchen, and the constant laughter of Sonic was a strange background noise. It wasn't unwelcome, however he never heard his brother laugh so much.
"Oh my god! Oh god.. Okay!" Sonic wheezed, attempting to catch his breath. "I'm messaging those twins, Staci and Perci, y'know them? We're really good friends and the whole flirting thing between me towards them is an inside joke whatever, but.. Staci said she had raw potatoes, right? Right. I told Perci to eat one, and she actually took a bite out of it! I'm still so dizzy." The cobalt said, wheezing even louder as he finished.
.. What?
"She ate raw potatoes?" Tails asked quizzically. "Were they atleast washed?"
"No! That's the thing, Staci just got them so they haven't been washed, haven't been stored at all." Sonic said, immediately going back to his communicator.
"Oh, shit. They wanna go shopping. Well, I'd love to stay but they're going to like.. next town's mall and I can get them there quicker-" Sonic stood upright, making sure everything was in check with his sports tape, scarf, and quills.
"Wait, how long have you guys been friends?" Tails asked, interrupting Sonic. It was a serious question, since so far Tails has only known Sonic to be friends with the other four of them, never anyone else.
Sonic stopped. "Oh, uh.. A few years. They were one of my first friends, and I never told you guys because I know some of you would probably say I was weird for being friends with girls. Dunno why, but something in me said to never tell you guys anything. I trust you, though!" The hedgehog said, smiling as he looked up at the kit.
"Anyways, I'll be on my way. Save me a chili dog or something if you decide to make me something, and if I don't eat something with Staci and Perc." He laughed, speeding out before Tails could ask anything else.
Tails wondered if he had any other friends outside of them. Sonic never actually said anything about before they met, all he ever said was that he came to the island in search of adventure. He knew that was definitely real, since Sonic was constantly in search of new thrills. However, who did he meet? How did Eggman come along? Tails was simply flying in the air with Amy, a long time friend before he saw Eggman and Sonic battling it out.
Sonic was very.. strange when they met. He was almost aggressive, brushing off any attempts at acts of kindness. He did things on his own, usually grumbling when people tried to do things for him. Sonic wasn't used to friends, and was wary of attempts of it.
It reminded Tails of Shadow.
Either way, who was he friends with at first? Where did he stay? It was a mystery.
"Perci! Staci!" Sonic shouted, sprinting before coming to a halt at the doorstep of a small house. It was wooden, practically like every other house, but he recognized this one, and it was actually a bit bigger than the other typical homes.
There were flowers hanging from the window sills, fake and other aesthetic items on the porch and stuff. The girls were pretty online, so they were living pretty good for being in Hedgehog Village.
"Hey Sonic! We'll be out in a second." He heard Perci shout, so Sonic waited. All the hedgehog brought was a small shopping list since they told him to bring it. They apparently had a much larger check this time, somewhere around four hundred twenty dollars. It was a hilarious number for money.
Soon enough, the bandicoots walked out of their house. Perci was wearing a darker purple and green outfit while Staci had a red and darker purple outfit. They were pretty matching, despite Perci wearing a more casual street-wear outfit than Staci..
"Hey Big Blue. We're heading out to Whiteridge. Apparently there's a huge mall where we can go eat out, buy some stuff and hang for a bit." Staci said, her eyes that were covered by shades staring at the phone in her hands. "Oh, and there's this totally awesome Space Doe coffee shop nearby, so we can check if that's any good too. I heard there was a special limited drink there, so let's hurry it up, shall we?" She said, winking at Sonic.
"Alrighty gals, hold on tight!" Sonic said, picking both of the bandicoots up with no effort at all. Tails barely weighed any less than the two, and he can carry just about 5 different versions of Tails at once, so this'll be a breeze.
Perci was held up by Sonic's left arm, Staci held by the other. It was always a ride whenever Sonic sped them towards whatever place, and it was always enjoyable. They never took his speed for granted, unlike everyone else, so that's just more of a reason to care about the two.
Staci shouted through the high speed air in the three's ears, "take a left and run until you see a lake, then go right! That'll take us into the general direction of Whiteridge!"
Sonic, who always had his senses on high alert whenever running, heard her loud and clear. He never could run too fast, having to alway be unnaturally aware of his surroundings unless he wanted to land into something. He could never really go faster than 230 MPH, which was unfortunate. Whenever he really put his speed to use, he could go fast. Longer legs were always great to take advantage of.
"Stop!" Staci shouted, Sonic immediately shoving his heels infront of him as he came to a halt. Perci latched onto Sonic at the sudden movement, Staci yelping slightly.
"We're here!" The bandicoot said, Staci getting her groundings as she looked at the other two.
"Sweet. Let's hit up the mall first, but should we eat or shop?" Sonic asked, hips cocking to the side.
The three looked around quizzically.
"We could shop for some food then other things, before seeing if they have a hang-out area or eat-in place.. Something like that. Afterwards, Space Doe?" Perci asked, eyes looking almost mischievous mentioning the coffee place.
The other two agreed, and they set out in the new town.
Back in Hedgehog Village, all four friends were sitting inside of Sonic's shack.
"Tails, where did you say Sonic went? He told me we were gonna watch a movie in twenty minutes!" Amy said, doing her best to hold back any anger so she didn't lash out on the others.
"Hey, don't act like he didn't promise we were gonna go foraging in Hazard Jungle then go mud throwing." Sticks growled, huffing angrily.
After a moment of silence, Knuckles spoke up, "He promised me I could do push-ups and other work-outs with him on my back!"
"Okay, let's get this straight, he said he would hang out with all of us today. Sonic promised me that we would play Mortal Bloodsport III's demo today, and we did until he asked if we could eat. As I made us food, he was messaging Perci and Staci-"
"Perci and Staci?!" All three shouted.
"He isn't even friends with them!" Amy screamed, groaning as she did her absolute best to hide her anger. This was Sonic's home afterall.
"No, that's where you're wrong. He told me that he had been friends with them for atleast years, longer than with any of us. I was shocked when he told me, but he left saying that they wanted to go shopping so I couldn't ask anymore questions." Tails said, putting a hand on Amy's shoulder. She calmed a little, giving Tails a comforting smile.
"But that's insane. How did we not know?" Sticks asked, finally getting over the shock. "Are they spies?! Aliens?! Maybe that's why we-!"
"Sticks. Do you remember how we all met? We were all on this island until Sonic came along. Amy and I were in the sky, having fun until we saw him fighting with Eggman, who's been here for years too. You and Knuckles were always in the woods, and you didn't open up until Sonic did to you, which you called him an alien because of his fur." Tails said, trying to comfort Sticks next. She was always adamant about theories and such.
"Yeah..! Fine, you got me. But that's still so strange, we never knew until today! That smells fishy to me."
"Yeah, and it's weird to me." Knuckles said, trying to be helpful.
Hearing a sudden sound on his communicator, Tails looked down at his wrist. "Whatever it is, he'll be back anyways. He just messaged me saying that they arrived at the town so they'll be gone for atleast a good while, but he promises to be back. Also, he said sorry about ditching all of us, he'll be sure to make up for it tomorrow." The kit sighed, deciding to just leave it to his brother.
