Soulmates: When you no longer feel like something is missing.

-N.R. Hart

It had been a month since Oliver and Felicity had tried to separate them and things had settled down, their threats had obviously been taken seriously.

Caitlin had started taking evening classes at the University where doctor Stein worked. She'd been unsure at first since it'd been a while since she was in education but as soon as the lecture had started she'd felt a sense of peace. Barry was proud of her and she actually found that she was proud of herself too. Harry was helping her where he could, giving her unlimited access to the labs and answering any and all questions she had. She'd brought her work over that she'd been doing before Alex was born aswell and due to the flexible study program was able to continue with most of it.

She was happy. Content even.

Caitlin had her head nestled on Barry's chest as they watched a movie he carded a hand through her hair

"What are you thinking?" Caitlin murmured

"Hmm? Oh. I'm thinking that we should have a safe word"

Caitlin giggled "Barry if I'd known we'd be getting kinky I would've shaved"

He laughed loudly "No, no" he shook his head "We're not getting kinky… not tonight anyway"

She laughed again, "...Then why are you thinking about safe words?"

"I think we should have some, you know? If we're in a situation and either of us just wants out, if we're in danger or uncomfortable… we should have a safe word for that, not for sex for day to day life, like an escape word” she knew he was thinking about the meeting from last month. They’d argued about it after, he thought some of the things she said were going too far so it made sense that he wanted a simple fix for it in future.

Caitlin found herself nodding "Sounds good… what are you thinking?"

"I don't know, it has to be something distinguishable"

"Hmm…" a smile pulled at her lips and she braced herself on Barry's chest as she met his eyes "Titanic? We've hit an iceberg, the ships sinking. We need a lifeboat"

"I like that" he confirmed "Titanic is no questions asked let's get out of here. Lifeboat can be we need to talk I'm not okay "

Caitlin nodded liking the addition "sounds perfect"

The movie continued to play and Caitlin drifted off to sleep in Barry's arms.

**

When she woke she was alone, Barry had already left for work and she half remembered him telling her he'd be back at 5 before kissing her forehead and pulling the covers over her again.

She began preparing for the day before Alex woke up, he'd hadn't had another night terror last night but they seemed to be every other night now like clockwork. They weren't this bad before.

They were still looking for a therapist or some sort of help for Alex but until the night terrors were over and they knew what was causing them, they'd put the search for Child care on hold.

Melony had recommended a few people and Henry had asked around at the hospital so they had a list of people to work through.

As far as she could tell the nightmares were the same. The monster man would just watch him and sometimes say things that Alex couldn't understand. He was back to drawing the monster man to something which she could tell freaked Barry out. He had a box of Alex's drawings in his closet, starting from the ones he'd drawn in the first few weeks of being here including the picture of all the earth's, she'd seen him going through them when Alex started drawing again.

When Alex woke up she made them both French toast and settled on the sofa with a cup of coffee as Alex face-timed Nora.

She watched her son- studying him, he looked tired despite how hard they tried. He hadn't been sleeping properly even when he wasn't having nightmares. His hair was all messy and even now after all this time she was still taken aback by how cute he was. Nora was asking him about how he'd slept last night, she was worried about him too.

Alex told her he’d slept good. That he hadn't had any dreams, not even any nice ones. She left them to talk for a while longer as she needed to do some laundry.

"Mummy we go park?" Alex asked

"We could do… but I was thinking we could go to the park in hub city instead? They have a huge duck pond, a water fountain and a really big slide. Grandma said it's a lot bigger too. Would you like to go there?" The plan was to let him run around for a few hours until he exhausted himself to sleep dreamlessly tonight.

Alex nodded "Daddy come?"

"He won't be home till late" she said regretfully "so it's just me and you today, we'll go get pizza too. Hmm? How does that sound?"

Alex nodded "good"

"Great" Caitlin said happily "let's go get ready then"

**

Alex was a very social creature. Wherever he went he made friends, before she hadn't known where he got it from because heavens knew that she wasn't the most sociable person but Alex was a happy kid who made friends easily. It was only after seeing Barry interact with others that she realised that Alex had gotten the trait from him.

She didn't know how or if it was possible but she was certain that Alex inherited the certain skill from Barry. That was what she recognised as Alex led a group of children around his age in a game of pretend, Alex of course was pretending to be the flash, saving others from an invisible threat.

It was as she watched him an ache settled in her chest. She wanted another baby. Maybe she was brooding or hormonal because she didn't let herself think this often but she wanted Alex to have siblings. She wanted him to have friends for life, she didn't want to leave him alone when she died.

She always thought if she were to have kids she'd want at least 2. As an only child she'd been lonely and she didn't want that for her children. It wasn't fair. She wanted another child, maybe not any time soon but eventually sure she couldn't have them naturally but maybe she could adopt? A startling thought hit her then-- did Barry want children? They already had Alex and while he loved Alex she wasn't sure if Barry wanted another child, maybe he'd enjoyed being an only child.

That was assuming she and Barry got to the point where they could discuss wanting children nevermind having them. They could meet their soulmates and then where would it leave them? The mere thought unsettled her. She didn't like to think about her soulmate. In fact she ignored thinking about it at all costs.

Alex was enough. She told herself. He was an amazing little boy and she had gotten so lucky to have him.

They spent the day in the park and then when it got too cold, February still holding a chill to the air, they walked around the small art museum. It was nice and they even had a little interactive display for children that Alex liked. She took pictures and sent them to Barry throughout the day. He never responded but she knew he was seeing them, she was a little disappointed but she knew he was busy.

As the day wound down they went to the pizza place that Barry had introduced her to, he often ran all the way here just for this pizza. She'd only been here in person once after Barry had been whammied and Alex had fallen out with him and he'd needed time to himself.

"Pizza!" Alex exclaimed when his food arrived, he'd gotten a small pizza from the kids menu with extra mozzarella and Caitlin couldn't help but grin at his excitement.

"Hey Alex" she began "would you… would you like a brother or sister one day?"

Alex frowned in thought as he chewed on his food "umm- I have- I have a brot'er or sist'er?"

"Well not anytime soon but would you like a sibling?"

Alex nodded "yup! I- I wants a brot'er" he bounced in his seat "yikes ninja tortles"

Caitlin smiled sadly "Yeah…" she wanted him to have a sibling too. "Maybe one day"

She could imagine it. She didn't even have to think too hard. She could imagine Barry with a little girl, a daughter who looked like her but who's personality was all Barry because he was kind and generous. She pictured another little boy running around with Alex, this one with auburn hair like Nora's and a grin like Barry's.

Her heart ached as she thought about it.

All in all they'd had a great day. She ordered 2 pizzas to-go for Barry and on the way home Alex fell asleep in the car like he often did. Barry texted her when she was half way home telling her that he'd just gotten back. She was looking forward to seeing him.

She missed him. That was stupid right? To miss someone when you'd seen them less than 12 hours ago yet still she missed him. She just wanted to crawl into bed beside him and listen to him talk about his day. By the time she was nearly home all she could think about was Barry and everything she'd tell him about her day.

She drove down the familiar road that she had to drive down to get anywhere from the base, it led her to town, to Nora and Henry's, to hub city to where Barry worked- oh shit.

Caitlin pressed her foot on the break and the car jolted. Her heart beat painfully fast as she looked around, this was where she had come out of the soulmate breech.

This was the road Barry had to take everyday to get anywhere, she felt a little nauseous but at the same time she felt like crying and laughing at the same time.

Barry. It was Barry and his restless ways, Barry who had practically lived off the pizza from hub city before they'd arrived, Barry who had to take this road to work, to town, to see his parents. It was all Barry .

What had everyone said? A soulmate breech brought you out to where your soulmate was or a place that they frequented, this was a pretty bizarre spot but it made sense. Barry was her soulmate. She knew it. She could feel it.

...or maybe she was just being hopeful. She could be entirely wrong, she could be making this all up to make herself feel better to try and justify her feelings for Barry. How comfortable she felt around him from the moment she met him. How it had been so easy to be around him, how it had been like breathing to fall in love with him and how quickly Alex had taken to him.

Soulmate. He was her soulmate. Tears streamed down her face at the realisation. Barry. Barry. Barry. It had always been him. Would always be him.

She had to tell him first. She had to kiss him. She had to confirm her suspicions.

Stupid. She was incredibly stupid. They both were. She should've released it sooner.

She started the car up again and practically sped home. She had to get to him. She had to see him and touch him and kiss him . She needed to tell him, she was practically bursting with the information.

She parked the car sloppily and barely remembered to grab Alex from the back seat, she practically ran to the elevator but had to stop when she nearly tripped and dropped her son.

She couldn't remember the elevator being this goddamn slow. Didn't it know she had places to be? She needed to see Barry. She needed him.

She stared at the numbers as they lit up letting her know what level was on as they climbed up and up closer to her level. Closer to home she chewed her lip anxiously adjusting Alex in her arms.

When they got to their floor she rushed into the apartment. "Barry?" she called breathlessly, her whole body felt tingly with anticipation, her heart raced and she'd forgotten everything she’d planned to say. All the reasoning she had behind her theory of them and-

He appeared from around the corner a bright smile on his face "Hey did you have fun in-"

"Shut up" she cut him off "I need- I need to tell you and I need- God first I need to put Alex down"

Barry's brow furrowed in concern, he took Alex from her and laid him down on the sofa as Caitlin bounced on her heels. "Is everything okay?" He asked, looking over at her.

She was on the verge of tears again. Of course it was him. Of course it was, she could feel it.

"Barry." she choked out "Oh my god" she brought him into a hug and he embraced her back, officially worried.

"Has something happened? Talk to me." He pulled back cupping her cheek and running his eyes over her checking for something wrong.

She could've done it then, just surged forward to kiss him. No need for words between them she could just show him what she'd realised. She didn't though, she should explain. He deserved that.

"I'm fine. I'm fine. More than fine" She bit back a sob and forced herself to pull back from him so she didn't kiss him right there. "Gideon- I need a projection of Barry's movements on the September 21st of last year"

Gideon was an AI so she didn't ask questions but Barry made his confusion clear. She shushed him and continued to give Gideon instructions. The hologram appeared in front of them, a 3D map of the radius he had been in that day.

Her heart continued to pound against her rib cage and her skin broke out in goosebumps. Faintly her powers pushed against her skin in response to the adrenaline.

"Okay, n-now highlight where I came out the breech" She glanced at Barry when she heard his breath catch. "Can- can you show us how many times he passed through that spot? And at what times?" Gideon did just that and she felt Barry grab her hand. "And-" she swallowed, this was it she practically had all the proof she needed "the estimated time that I came out of the breech"

The times blinked back at her hovering at the side of the map, Barry's time in red and hers in blue.

20:08 for Barry

20:09 for her

A minute was a long time for a speedster, he could go miles in a minute and it seemed that he had.

Barry's grip on her hand was so tight but she barely registered it, she looked over at him and felt tears run down her cheeks "I think…"

Barry nodded back "I missed you'' he laughed bitterly "I'm so sorry- if I had known-" he swallowed. "God I can't believe that I-" he shook his head "I'm so-"

"Shut up."

Barry laughed wetly "That's twice now you've told me to shut up."

"I can't imagine my life without you" She began "I love you. I've known you for more than a month…” she said listing the criteria he'd told her all those months ago “You- you just feel right. And- and I was driving and I just- I was thinking about you and how much I loved you and missed you and I drove past the spot I came out of the breech and I just- I realised that, it's you " She wiped her tears away and smiled up at Barry.

Barry was crying now too "You feel right to. Nothing has ever felt so right to me and I love you and- and your everything I've ever wanted, better than I ever imagined"

Caitlin laughed through her tears and wrapped her arms around him and stood on her tiptoes. "I'm going to kiss you now"

Barry pressed his forehead against hers and nodded "I've been waiting a long time for this" he breathed and she felt the words ghost against her lips and she pressed her whole body against his. Feeling his hand come to rest on her lower back and the other hand come up to cup her cheek.

She exhaled. He inhaled.

He traced her lower lip with his thumb.

They waited a moment and then another as if they expected the other to pull away, as they dared something to interrupt them.

Nothing did.

Their lips came together. Finally,

It was almost instantaneous, she thought there'd be a few seconds between their lips meeting to the bond coming into place but it seemed just as impatient as them, like after all these months of straining to be set free and released from its cage and be connected with its other half it pounced at the chance.

Barry didn't stop kissing her even as he laughed and gasped against her lips. She could feel him everywhere.

He was beyond happy. He was overjoyed and she felt it all seep from him down the bond and she had no doubt he was feeling the same things from her. Finally.

Finally. Finally. Finally .

She'd never felt this much love before, she'd never felt this much delight and joy before. Barry's emotions threatened to overwhelm her but she pushed back with feelings of her own letting him feel it all as her lips moved against his and her hand settled on his chest.

He felt her relief, felt her love and jovial glee at this whole situation. Part of him felt guilty for not realising sooner and he felt so so stupid for missing her coming out of that breech to find him but she'd worry about that another time because Caitlin was kissing him. He was kissing Caitlin. This was what he'd been waiting for his whole life.

This moment. He'd found her. His soulmate. She was his. She was everything. The soulmate bond felt like the last piece of a puzzle coming together and he couldn't help but laugh at how wonderful he felt. If he died right now he'd die a happy man. He'd die at peace and so full of love he felt ready to burst.

Caitlin had to pull away first because oxygen was still a thing and somehow he'd forgotten, it was no matter though, there were other parts of her that he could touch and kiss, her neck was particularly inviting as he left kisses down her jaw and to the slope of her neck. Caitlin

This was his soulmate. It was his soulmate's pulse that fluttered rapidly against his lips as he planted kisses there.

"Barry." She said breathily and the sound of his name from her lips sent a jolt through his body. That was his soulmate saying his name like that, all breathless because he'd made her that way.

"Caitlin." he replied, pulling away and meeting her eyes. He wiped her tears away as he smiled through his own.

"We're soulmates"

"We are." He agreed, his throat thick with emotion, "You're my soulmate." She laughed as she nodded and pressed her lips to his again. He'd never get enough of this feeling. He pulled away from the kiss again and pressed his forehead to Caitlins content to share breaths with her "Mine."

She smiled, kissing his palm "Yours."

"I love you so much" Barry tucked some hair behind her ear "Even if we weren't soulmates I'd still love you like this. You're everything, okay? You're everything you and Alex" he looked towards their sleeping son and smiled wider "God things make so much more sense now"

She giggled, pressing her fingers to her lips. She tilted her head and brought her hand down to hold his "Do you want to adopt him?" The question was easy coming off her lips. It wasn't hard to get the words out, it was only after she said them and Barry started crying did she feel any anxiety over her question. "Barry?" She asked in alarm as he sunk to his knees in front of her and buried his face in her stomach

"Yes." he sobbed and she cried along with him. "You make me so happy. You both make me so happy and I'm his dad but I get to adopt him and that's awesome and he's a great kid he's my kid and I love him-" Caitlin sunk to her knees as well so she could hold him "My son and my soulmate and it's- it's perfect. It's so perfect."

"Do you really want me to adopt him because if your unsure we can wait" he said in a rush like he wanted her to be sure but he didn't want her to take it back,

She shook her head cupping his cheeks to cut off his rambling and just because she cup she planted a soft kiss on his lips "Your his Dad Barry." She smiled fondly at him and bit her lip "He's been your son for a long time now- sometimes- sometimes I think he was yours all along."

The thought saddened her and made her extremely happy at the same time. Sad because Barry hadn't gotten to be there with them from day one but happy because he was never Hunters, never had been and never will be. Alex was Barry's son through and through.

She felt Barry's undiluted exuberance through the bond, they were both so happy they were shaking with it. This was everything. Everything they had hoped for. It was all real but it felt like a dream. It felt like she was living someone else's life because surely this man. This wonderful, crazy and generous man wasn't hers. She didn't deserve him.

Barry kissed her again probably because he felt where her thoughts were heading and as it turned out kissing her was the perfect distraction.

She felt him tug on the bond and she couldn't help the laugh that escaped her. It was a foreign feeling and it would take her a while to get used to. The bond would take a while to get used to but she didn't hate it. She actually felt whole now.

"Why are you laughing?" Barry murmured when they parted again.

"I'm just really happy, how do you do the bond thing?"

A bit of concern hit him when he remembered that Caitlin wasn't from here. That she hadn't grown up with an education on soulmates and soulbonds like everyone else.

"Focus on it, feel it" she did as he asked and felt the thrum of a life that wasn't hers tethered within her. It felt like Barry's presence, his warmth, his reassurance she could feel it all now. "Now imagine that it's a string, that it's connected to something, a lever or your hand and just pull on it"

She did as he instructed and she saw Barry jolt slightly and grin "Maybe a little gentler hmm? I'm right here, you don't need to get my attention quite as hard"

"Sorry"  she murmured

Barry shook his head "Don't be sorry, keep practising"

"Mummy?" Alex said drowsily from the sofa "We home now?"

"Yeah baby, we're home" she walked over to him and Barry followed.

"We got you pizza Daddy" Alex said proudly

"Oh you did?" he asked lightly

Caitlin winced "Sorry it's still in the car. I was sorry I was freaking out earlier" she bit her lip and reached for Barry's hand. Why wasn't she touching him? She should be touching him.

Barry laced his fingers through hers and her skin thrummed pleasantly, that new bond jumping happily.

"Do you know how much we love you?" Barry murmured

Alex smiled and Barry almost started crying again. Caitlin could feel him holding back the tears and she actually let her own tears fall. This was all she ever wanted. All she'd ever wanted was love like this and now she finally had it, it overwhelmed her and she couldn't help but cry. She had the family that she had always wanted.

Barry reached for her, pulling her into his lap. "I love you both so much" Barry pressed a kiss to Caitlins lips just because he could.

Alex giggled "you kissing my mummy"

"Uh huh" Barry kissed Caitlin again, "yes and I never plan on stopping so get used to it"

"Barry." Caitlin huffed, pushing him away even as his lips chased her own.

"I mean it."

"I know."

**

Caitlin couldn't stop touching him. Currently she sat in his lap, her ankles locked behind his back as she pressed against him. She shook with the need to be as close to him as possible as they made out in Barry's room after putting Alex to bed. She needed him. Needed to touch every inch of him. She needed to explore every inch of him. She needed more. More. More .

She tugged at the bottom of Barry's shirt whining pitifully low in her throat when she couldn't rip it from him. He helped her get it over his head and sighed when her hands met the bare skin of his shoulders. ''Hmm"

"Better?" He rasped into her ear pausing briefly to tug on her ear lobe with his teeth.

She nodded in contentment and rolled her hips against his "More." she reached down to his pants but Barry caught her hands lacing them with his.

"We can't."

"I want to," She objected, trying to pull her hands away from his.

"You don't." Barry sat back even as she glared at him and he couldn't help but smile at her annoyance. He hadn't been able to stop smiling since he kissed her. "It's just the bond." he pressed soft kisses to her cheeks, "it's urging us to get to the bonding. It adds extra hormones, it's why you're so wound up"

"I'm not wound up" she tried to withdraw her hands again but stopped when she realised that no, she didn't want to stop this connection between them.

He tilted his head to one side a cocky gin spreading across his face "sorry I meant horny"

She flushed "I am not-"

"You're trying to jump my bones." He flipped them so suddenly she just knew his powers were involved because the next thing she knew she was on her back and Barry was hovering over her, his hands still pinning hers to the mattress. "Do you know why?"

"You're my soulmate."

"Yes but it's the bond" Barry explained taking her t-shirt off with her help. He groaned at the sight of her breasts and put his face between them. "I missed you two"

"...are you talking to my boobs?" Caitlin giggled

Barry cupped one of her breasts nodding "Ee know each other very well" as if to prove his point he rolled her nipple between his fingers drawing a moan from her. "...what was I talking about..? Right. The bond is new and it's trying to get us to start the physically bonding process and get to the baby making part. It's how you know the difference between a romantic relationship and a platonic one. It's good to know we're definitely romantic" Barry pulled the fabric of her bra down and covered her nipple with his mouth

"Yeah" Caitlin gasped arching into him "there's nothing platonic about this"

He grazed his teeth over her skin. "Oh I know"

She sighed "...Please."

Barry began trailing kisses down her stomach while Caitlin reached behind herself to unclasp her bra and toss it aside. "Your so beautiful"

"Barry"

He travelled lower and she groaned when his lips brushed the waistband of her underwear. She wanted him to take them off. She wanted his mouth on her so bad she whimpered when he moved back up her body.

"What are you doing?" She gasped, grabbing at his hair and pushing him back down.

"I wasn't sure if you… I didn't want to assume…" he trailed off his chin resting on her stomach

"I- I want you to… I know we're not going to have sex but I want- want…" she swallowed

Barry pressed a kiss to her stomach "you can't want something if you can't say it"

"I…" she exhaled "please"

Barry grazed his teeth over her stomach "if you want something you have to ask for it"

She took a shaky breath weaving her hand into Barry's hair. "I want… I want your mouth…"

"Hmm?" Barry smiled into her skin and began to move down her body and drag her sleep shorts with him. He began to kiss from her knee to her inner thigh. "Like this?"

"More."

"Tell me."

"God just- just put your- your mouth- I want your mouth on- on my… uh…" Barry paused looking up at her with raised brows.

"Your a grown women I'm pretty sure you can say clit"

She flushed "I- I- just…"

"Unless you want my mouth somewhere else? Have I got this all wrong? Do you want me here?" He pressed a kiss to the side of her knee "or here?" He sucked her thigh just above her knee.

"You know what I want"

"How do I know if you don't tell me?" He nuzzled against the inside of her thigh.

Caitlins chest heaved and she ran a hand through her hair "fuck just… just-"

"Hmm?"

"I want your mouth on my clit, I want your toung and- and I want you to make me cum"

Barry smirked up at her "good girl"

She groaned, her hips arching off the bed. Barry pulled her panties down without another word and without any more teasing becuasr God knows they'd gone through fucking months of that, his lips closed over her and she maned her eyes falling closed.

"Fuckkk… oh- urghh Barry"

She could've sworn he laughed. The bastard. She couldn't focus on that though because a second later there was more pressure and just more. She wasn't sure exactly what he was doing but she liked it and it felt good. So good and all she could do was just lay back and feel

He could die here. He realised. Unbelievably happy with his soulmate's taste on his tongue as she bucked against his mouth moaning his name. He could do this for the rest of his life and live a full happy life. When she arched off the bed again he reached under her thighs grabbing her ass and pulling her up against his mouth as she again cried out his name. A hand fisted almost painfully in his hair as he licked and sucked her like a starving man.

"Barry I- I want to- I want- ah oh yes. Yes. Yessss. Just- just like- hmm"

He slid a hand up her body to play with her breasts and she came undone shaking as she shattered beneath him pushing his head away when the over stimulation became too much.

Breathing heavily she opened her eyes ans stared at the ceiling.

"Oh that- that was- that was good"

Barry chuckled smoothing his hands up and down her thighs comfortably as she came down. "You were amazing"

She rolled her eyes still staring at the ceiling "I didn't even do anything"

"You just came for me didn't you?" She nodded her cheeks burning with a blush. "Think you can do it again?"

 She panted "now?"

Barry grinned "the nights still young" he smirked suggestively and dipped his head between her legs again but stopped when he caught sight of something. Frowning, he pulled the covers away.

"Is something wrong?" Caitlin asked self consciously, closing her legs as she sat up leaning back on her forearms.

Barry put a hand between them to stop her, his thumb running over the tattoo that wasn't even an inch long. "This. This is your tattoo? How long have you had this?" He asked

She relaxed when she understood what he was asking, what he'd spotted "I got it a year after Alex was born" she smiled a little smugly at the wonder on his face.

He laughed "a lightning bolt, you have a fucking lighting bolt tattoo and have since before we even met"

She blushed "...Yes, does it bother you? It's not like it's a flash symbol. I'm not a fan of yours. You don't have to worry about me stalking you”

Barry scoffed in offence "You're not a flash fan Caitlin Snow?"

She used her thighs as leverage so she could turn them, so Barry was on his back and she was on top straddling him, he went willingly laughing all the while.

"No, I'm more of a Barry Allen fan" she grinned down at him and inhaled sharply when she felt a vibrating finger drag through her folds.

"Even if I do this?"

She moaned, her eyes fluttering closed. "I'm still not going to be a flash groupie. Do that again."

"So demanding-"

"Again."

He repeated the action and she leaned into it. "This okay?"

She nodded, tipping her head back and closing her eyes "uhh-huh- so good"  he circled her clit with a vibrating finger teasing her even as she bucked her hips. He was teasing her and he knew what she wanted. Knew what she needed but he'd do anything to keep that look of pleasure and bliss on her face. He slipped a finger inside her groaning at how wet she was for him. She gasped her inner walls clenching around him.

"Oh- oh fuck" he added another finer coaxing them inside of her as she fucked herself in his fingers gasping softly as he picked up his rhythm inside of her.

"That's it" he praised and relished the feeling of his painfully hard cock brushing against her when she ground down against his fingers. Feeling herself began to shake. "Cum for me,"

She groaned desperately moving her hips faster and harder "Barry."

"I know," he breathed, "I know, let go. I've got you"

She did just that; Falling apart as he was still moving his fingers inside of her gradually slowing so as not to overwhelm her.  Twice. She'd cum twice now. He'd given her two orgasms.

"...y-you haven't- I should" she reached down for his erection stroking him over his boxers before shoving them down and taking him in her hand  "You still don't want to fuck me?" She asked breathlessly as she twisted her fist that still pumped his cock.

Barry groaned tugging at his hair "I always want to fuck you b-but the- hmm- yes like that fuck…"

"Speaking of fucking-"

"We can't" he groaned "I want to-"

"Great I want to-"

"No. We have to wait a few days for the bond to calm down"

She slowed down to the point she'd almost stopped. "I don't care. I wanted you before the bond"

"Caitlin" he breathed "just- hmm don't stop. I've wanted you for so long but I won't- won't until the bond has settled"

"What if we-"

Alex started screaming from his room.

They both stilled.

"No" Caitlin groaned "I've got it- go uh- go get a cold shower or something"

Barry closed his eyes as Caitlin climbed off him. He pressed his head against the pillows. He loved his son, he really did but he had been so close.

He opened his eyes when Caitlin pressed a quick kiss to his lips "maybe your parents can have Alex overnight tomorrow?"

He smiled lazily at her "be prepared to not leave this bed"

Caitlin hummed, pressing another kiss to his lips. "I'm looking forward to it."

"Mummy!"

"I'm coming." Caitlin called back and gave Barry a sorry look before leaving.

**

"Mummy" Alex hiccuped pointing to door "mon- monster man"

"No, no baby there's no monsters in here" She turned on the light and gestured around the room "see? You're alright. You're safe." She climbed into bed next to him knowing it was useless he wouldn't go back to sleep in here now. It was a miracle they could still get him to sleep in here at night time.

Barry joined them when Caitlin was creating a nest of pillows and blankets in her room.  "Daddy" Alex sniffled reaching his hands out to him

"Hey buddy." Barry picked him up and hugged him "Bad dreams again?"

He nodded "I don't want t-to sleep in there"

Barry sighed "I know, you can sleep with me and mummy tonight."

"I'm sorry" Caitlin apologies again as they all got tucked into bed

"What are you sorry for?" Barry asked, spooning her from behind and slipping a hand around her waist to rest on her stomach.

"Alex-"

"It's not your fault." He scowled knowing she couldn't see it

"Well I know but-"

"Shhh"

"Barry-"

"Shhh, get some sleep. We have a big day tomorrow"

"Hmm Goodnight… I love you"

Barry smiled "I love you"

***

"You’re fidgeting." Caitlin said softly

"No I'm not"

They were sitting outside the soulmate registration office, they needed to register that they were soulmates first so all Caitlin’s official paperwork could go through and so it would all be recognised by the government and most importantly so Barry could claim Alex as his son.

Barry was anxious, a stark contrast to how un-naturally calm she was. She transferred Alex to Barry's lap, if only so their son could act as his emotional support human.

They hadn't told anyone yet. Barry wanted to surprise his parents with the paperwork and they were still figuring out how to tell their friends.

"Are you nervous?" Caitlin glanced up from her phone where she was typing out a message to Nora asking her if she could have Alex tonight.

"Of course I'm nervous" Barry grumbled "this is a big deal"

"It's not like we're getting married- bonded" she corrected and frowned at the thought "Which won't be happening any time soon by the way."

"I know" he murmured "I don't expect that" he squeezed her hand "I've been waiting for this you know? I've been waiting for you and now it's all happening and I don't know what to do."

"There's nothing for you to do" Caitlin murmured, pressing a kiss to his jaw "We got this far."

"Yeah" he exhaled "Yeah…"

"Mummy, I'm boredddd" Alex complained

"Just a little longer" Caitlin promised "We should've left him with your parents"

"They would've asked us where we were going and you know I wouldn't have been able to lie to them, I would've blurted it out as soon as we arrived" Caitlin huffed knowing that was true, Barry was already bursting with the information, he'd given her his phone so he didn't call his parents. "I just want to arrive and surprise them"

And do you think they'll be happy about this?" She asked hesitantly

Barry laughed, caught off guard by the question. "Caitlin, they love you. They will be deliriously happy. They'll probably cry."

She smiled and rested her head against his shoulder "I really love you, you know?"

"I know"

"And your parents"

Barry shrugged "we love you to, you’re family now, we're you’re family"

"Barry Allen and Caitlin Snow?" A voice called

Alex perked up "That's your name daddy!" He scrambled out of his lap

"Yeah" he and Caitlin stood and Barry found his legs shaking, Caitlin slipped her hand into his and Alex clung to his other hand.

The soulmate registration woman was nice.

"So you realised you were soulmates last night?"

“That's correct" Caitlin said after watching Barry gape like a fish at a loss for words.

"Congratulations," she introduced herself. "I'm doctor Mcgee, this isn't my field exactly but in your paperwork you said that you were both metahumans. That's right isn't it?"

Barry and Caitlin both nodded and Caitlin worried that they were about to ask what powers they had. If they did, Barry would surely be exposed.

"Okay" she smiled sweetly at Alex who crowded against Barry shyly. "Is this your son?" She asked addressing Barry

"Yeah" Barry managed to choke out

"He's my son biologically" Caitlin explained when it became clear Barry was just going to stare at the posters in the room saying things like ‘ So you met your Soulmate.’

"Oh, I didn't realise"

"Yeah he looks just like Barry, we're not sure why, we're raising him together though- it's complicated, we've been friends for a while"

"How long have you known each other?"

"Umm- about 6 months" Caitlin said surprised at the amount of time they'd known each other.

"We live together" Barry blurted

"Yes but we weren't… together before now" Caitlin added "I came out of a soulmate breech but Barry wasn't there and-"

"You're from another earth?"

"Oh um- it should be in my record"

"Right…" doctor McGee murmured, clicking a few things on her computer before she sat back with a small frown, her gaze fixed on Barry. "I'm going to save us all a lot of time. Mr. Allen I know your the flash"

Barry feigned shock "Whaaattt? Me? No that's- that's so random why- why would you think that?"

Caitlin rolled her eyes and Alex giggled. "Daddy flash"

"Alex-"

Barry laughed awkwardly "kids you know... he has an insane imagination"

Caitlin sat back and eyed the doctor suspiciously.

"A man in a coma for 9 months wakes up perfectly healthy and then 2 days later a man with super speed shows up. It's not hard to guess and I know your friend Dr. Wells"

Barry sighed "it's not that much of a secret identity anyway."

"So I'm assuming you both have powers?" Mcgee continued obviously not bothered by the fact she'd just confronted the flash about his identity

Caitlin nodded fidgeting with her power suppressing necklace. "Yes…"

She nodded "as you probably know that's fairly common for meta humans, I won't ask you what your powers are as I respect your privacy and it's probably best that I don't know for legal reasons but I'm assuming your powers compliment each other?"

Caitlin and Barry shared a look and she shrugged "I guess you could say that yeah."

Dr. Mcgee asked them more questions and they answered the best they could before they needed to do the DNA tests.

Alex freaked out at the sight of the needles. "No! No needles Mummy!"

"There not for you bud" Barry assured him and gathered him in his lap and cuddled him close to block out the view of Caitlin having her blood taken. Alex squirmed in his lap glaring up at him.

"We go home soon?"

"Soon" Barry assured him "but we're going to see grandma and grandad first."

When he looked up he found Dr. Mcgee giving them an odd look. "He's not your biological son?" She asked to confirm.

Barry nodded "Caitlin gave birth to him, his birth father isn't in the picture"

She nodded thoughtfully, "soul DNA really is a marvel," she looked between Barry and Alex "he could be your clone."

"Do you mean Alex could…" He trailed off "be… my- bio- biologically…" He could feel his hands shaking on Alex's back "my- he-" he looked to Caitlin who was staring at him wide eyed.

The doctor nodded her eyes soft "We can do the test now if you want"

Barry nodded numbly and looked back down at Alex taking in the resemblance yet again. "I thought that soul DNA only passed on a little bit, in rare cases"

"That's true but DNA is a strange thing and there is so much that we don't know about Soul DNA especially in metahumans so it's entirely possible that he is more your son biologically than he is his birth fathers"

"It would explain the resemblance" Caitlin said slowly

Alex did the cheek swab without any complaint then went to sit with his mother while Barry had his own cheek swab done and blood taken.

"You know I read about a case like this before" Dr. Mcgee began "Where the child had adopted most of the paternal DNA from their mother's soulmate. In that particular situation the mother was in a- uh unhealthy relationship so it's believed that when she fell pregnant her body chose to favor the soulmate DNA so the baby would have a better chance of being accepted by her soulmate who she met during the course of her pregnancy. When babies are born they tend to look like their father for the first few months this is left over from when we were still evolving to make sure that the father accepted the baby and didn't abandon them, it's all about survival really"

Caitlin and Barry stared at her in silence. Barry's eyes strayed to Alex and then to Caitlin who looked back at him.

"So you're saying because I- because I wasn't safe in my relationship with…" she swallowed "-my body decided to draw from Barry's DNA instead"

She nodded "That's my theory yes but there are others out there for example most commonly DNA is adopted from the soulmate through the bond to counteract any genetic defects, but there are more theories that you can look into. You said you were unsafe in your relationship? Maybe your body favored your soulmates DNA for you so you didn't have to be reminded of someone that hurt you everyday"

Caitlin swallowed and felt Barry's comfort bleed down the bond. Even before they'd met her connection to Barry had saved her. She would love Alex either way but she couldn't lie and say that the fact he looked nothing like Hunter didn't make things a lot easier for her.

Barry reached for her blindly and she clutched his hand between her own.

"If he is your son biologically, do you want to claim him?" She asked hesitantly

Barry laughed,  tears running down his cheeks "Even if he's not you can be sure that I will be claiming him as my son… if that's okay with you?"

"Of course it is" She leaned over to kiss him despite Alex's protests "More than okay." she breathed against his lips.

"Ewww" Alex grumbled "don't kiss my daddy"

"Oh? Why not?" Barry asked and leaned forward to press a short kiss to Caitlins lips

Alex glared at him and Caitlin giggled.

Dr. Mcgee cleared her throat, Barry winced "Sorry"

She waved them off "It's alright, we just want to get this all sorted as soon as possible. As soon as it's done the sooner you can go home and celebrate"

Caitlin couldn't decide if celebrate was a euphemism.

*

"They're going to freak" Barry said, fingers flexing on the steering wheel as they drove to his parents house.

"In a good way?" Caitlin asked anxiety making her leg bounce

"A very good way" Barry assured her "are you ready for this?"

"No, are you?"

"No." He admitted but he was smiling. "I can't wait though"

She smiled over at him. This man. He was the love of her life indeed.

They hadn't told Nora and Henry they were coming over this early. They had meant to but they'd forgotten with everything going on, Henry was still dressed in his work uniform when they arrived and Nora was in the middle of deep cleaning the kitchen.

The whole house smelled of bleach and Caitlin was sure the smell would always trigger the memory of what came next.

"Well this is unexpected" Nora said lightly as she took her rubber gloves off "is everything okay? I didn't think you were dropping Alex off until this evening”

Barry just smiled "Perfect. We just wanted to see you so we thought we'd come over sooner"

Nora must've picked up on something, though maybe it was something in his tone or mother's intuition but she definitely knew there was something more to this visit.

"You're all always welcome here, you know that" she looked around. "How long do you think you'll stay though? I'm in the middle of gutting the kitchen"

Barry shrugged "Not long" a huge smile split his face and he couldn't help it.

"What's that smile for?" Henry asked "What have you done?"

He grinned, shaking his head "Nothing. I haven't done anything"

"Caitlin?" Henry questioned her

She shrugged, not quite sure what to say. Alex was on the floor with bingo already laughing at the spaniel as it's wagging tail smacked against the floor.

"We have something to tell you"

"Oh god, what's happened?" Nora asked urgently "What's wrong? Should we start packing-"

"No, mum, everything's fine. This is good news"

Nora raised an eyebrow at Caitlin "Are you pregnant?"

Caitlin shook her head "No. No definitely not"

Barry gestured to the sofa "You should sit down"

"You know your telling us this is good news but the last time you acted like this and made sure we were sitting down you told us about the timeline you changed" Nora said

"Please tell me you haven't changed another timeline?" Henry asked incredulously, "Did we die again?"

"What? No the timeline is fine- as far as I'm aware"

"Barry-"

"I'm joking" he looked to Caitlin grinning "Everything is fine"

"Should we still sit down?" Henry asked

"Yes" Barry gestured to the sofa and they sat down. He began pacing in front of them. "I don't really know how to- you know- tell you this"

"You told us this was good news then why are you struggling with telling us this?" Nora asked her confusion and worry clear

"I don't know" Barry mumbled

"Are you in trouble?" henry asked going into dad mode

Barry smiled over at Caitlin "Almost definitely"

She shook her head at him fondly and reached out a hand for him. He took it and she gestured to the opposite sofa "maybe you should sit down to"

They both sat and Barry's leg started to bounce.

"Honey you know we can't help if you don't tell us what's going on" Nora said tentatively

"I uh… I don't know how to- to say it…"

"What have you done-"

"Nothing-"

"Barry and I are soulmates" Caitlin said quickly

" Caitlin -"

"What you literally couldn't speak-"

"I was getting to it-"

"You were stuttering-"

"You're soulmates?!" Nora interrupted

Barry and Caitlin turned to her at the same time and Nora looked ready to cry. "Are you sure?"

Barry smiled widely "Certain. We just got back from the soulmate center" he took the certificate out as proof and Nora took it from him with shaking hands

Nora did start crying now. Sobbing actually. "Really?"

"Really"

Henry started laughing. Loudly and merrily and he stood to hug Barry and Nora practically tackled her in a suffocating hug, saying something about having a daughter.

"This whole time?" Henry asked

"Yeah" Barry laughed "We're sort of pathetic"

"Oh I wouldn't say that" Nora said laughing through her tears "I'm so happy for you two. I'm just-I'm so happy" Nora pressed kisses to Barry's cheek and hugged him again "I'm so proud of you"

He huffed "There's more?"

"More? I don't think I can take more" she said sitting down "I'm getting old my heart my burst"

Barry laughed wetly and Caitlin leaned into his side unable to stop smiling. "You wanna tell them?" He asked

She nodded "it's about Alex"

Alex looked up at the sound of his name and worry flashed across his face "Why you crying? Mummy why grandma crying?" He hugged Caitlin's legs and she lifted him into his arms stroking his back soothingly

"Don't worry. It's happy crying"

He pouted "why?"

"Well" She licked her lips "we got some good news today, about you and daddy" she glanced up at Nora and Henry and felt Barry's reassuring squeeze on her hand. "Well you know how we're soulmates? We explained it to you this morning"

Alex nodded remembering the very confusing conversation about how his parents were soulmates which meant they loved each other very much and they'd be kissing a lot now.

"Well we went to talk to a special doctor about it and she was very surprised when she saw you because you look just like daddy" she said bopping his nose "and do you know what she said?"

"I looks yikes daddy"

"You do" Barry said ruffling Alex's hair "You freaked grandma and grandad out when you first met them because your so handsome"

Alex giggled and leaned his head back against his mothers shoulder "In my defense he could be your little clone" Henry said with a huff

"Yeah," Barry agreed.

"Anyway" Caitlin continued "the doctor was so surprised by how much you look like daddy that she ran some special tests and do you know what they said?" She looked at Nora and Henry who's eyes were shining. "The tests said that you have a lot of Barry's DNA because when you were still growing in my tummy you took from the tiny bit of soul DNA that I have that's actually Daddy's because you knew that he was your really dad"

Nora actually sobbed now and Henry huffed out a laugh hugging her. "What percentage?"

"76% of Alex's paternal DNA comes from me" He announced proudly "I wasn't even there for the making of Alex and my genes were still superior" he said with a grin.

Caitlin elbowed him "don't be gross, Alex is right here"

"It's true though" he said smugly and kissed her just because he could. Alex made an 'eww' sound and pushed them apart. "We should've seen this ages ago though. He is undoubtedly my son I mean look at him"

"Your so smug"

"Of course I'm smug look what my DNA did"

"Yesh well I think I might've been a part of it to"

"Oh trust me I haven't forgotten." He said smiling then turned to his parents "I'm also claiming Alex as my son too. Officially I mean. If that wasn't obvious. I should get the paperwork by tomorrow"

"I'm so happy for you. We'll have to throw a party" Nora said happily

"Oh definitely" Barry agreed

"We don't need to throw a party" Caitlin stressed

He hummed "You're right we could throw a parade.” He said, sounding completely serious, “I'm the Flash, I can do that."

She laughed "Barry"

"Or I could have today declared a holiday. I could talk to the mayor or something or even the president-"

"Your crazy"

He pressed his lips to hers "crazy for you"

She couldn't stop smiling even as she pushed him away "Maybe just a small party,"

He nodded "Sounds perfect."
