Chapter Text

Ranboo was in a field of flowers. He didn't quite remember how he had gotten there, but it was really nice lying on his back in the soft grass so he didn't really mind. A warm breeze drifted across his face, ruffling his hair. A placid smile formed on his face. It was so nice here. Something poked at his side, and he frowned as he looked down, but couldn't see anything. The thing poked again, accompanied with a voice this time.

"Ranboooooo, wakey wakey asshead," despite the words the tone of the voice was lighthearted, and Ranboo looked around to see where it was coming from. But the field wasn't there anymore, there was just darkness all around him.

"What-" Ranboo blinked, and then he was lying on a bed, a pair of warm brown eyes hovering over him. A flood of panic seized Ranboo, and the teen whipped his head around to try and figure out where he was.

Polaroid pictures and drawings on the wall.

Two backpacks by the door.

A boy with floppy brown hair sitting next to him-

Tubbo.

Oh

He remembered.

"You good bossman?" Tubbo asked, concern etched in his face.

"Yeah, just a weird dream," Ranboo said, smiling reassuringly at Tubbo

"Tubbo, I'm gonna walk over to my house to grab some clothes, ok?"

"Yeah go ahead, I'll get some more blankets while you're gone," Ranboo nodded. It was actually pretty warm so he took off his hoodie and put it on Tubbo's bed before going outside

(YES HE IS WEARING A SHIRT UNDERNEATH YOU WEIRDOS /lh)

Ranboo walked downstairs and outside. He turned to the right and had just started walking when he heard a familiar voice shouting from a distance behind him.

"SAP WHAT THE HELL?!"

"Calm down GOGY,"

"I swear to god if you call me that one more time-"

"SHUT UP YOU TWO!"

"Aww is Dweamy mad?"

"Sapnap, I'm going to fucking kill you,"

"Jeez Dream, chill out,"

Ranboo's heart lept up into his throat.

No, no, no, NO

Why here, why now?

Please don't notice me, please, please- "Wait, who is that? They look familiar," Sapnap's voice rang through the street, and Ranboo's head snapped up from looking at the ground. He started to walk faster.

"Wait, no way..." Dream said, "Is that...?" Ranboo could hear the smirk on Dream's face.

"Hey new kid," Ranboo felt a hand slap down on his shoulder and he flinched. His eyes darted up to see Sapnap grinning wickedly.

Crap.

"What are you doing out this late by yourself?" Dream said, coming up on the other side of him.

"I need to get going," Ranboo said quietly, shoving off Sapnap and walking away. He had only gone a few feet when a hand grabbed the collar of his shirt and yanked him backward.

Ranboo stumbled back, right into Sapnap and George. They roughly grabbed his arms, preventing him from escaping.

Ranboo tried to wriggle his way out, but it was no use. They were surprisingly strong.

Dream walked in front of him and smirked.

"No one's here to protect you now huh? Not even your pathetic boyfriend," Dream laughed.

"He's not-" Dream kneed Ranboo in the stomach, making him double over, coughing.

"I didn't ask, bitch boy," Dream said. Sapnap laughed.

Ranboo vaguely remembered Tommy saying something similar, but the way Dream said it made it sound different. Less jokingly, harsher.

George and Sapnap threw Ranboo down onto the pavement, leaving a cut on Ranboo's cheek as he crashed into the asphalt.

The trio began to kick him everywhere. His stomach, legs, arms, face.

Ranboo brought his arms up trying to protect his head and squeezed his eyes shut. Silent tears streaking down his face, stinging his cuts.

His whole body was screaming in pain, but he couldn't get up. He didn't know how long he had been lying there. It could've been minutes or hours, he wasn't sure.

Ranboo had gotten numb to the pain at some point, no longer flinching when hard boots slammed into his soft skin. He could taste blood in his mouth.

At some point, Ranboo realized that the trio had left. Maybe they had just gotten bored of him.

Tears continued to stream down his face silently. He wanted to get up. He needed to get up. But his body wouldn't let him.

Ranboo felt a drop of water on his face. The tall boy opened his eyes slowly. It had begun to rain.

You've got to be kidding me.

He saw a figure in the distance running towards him. Ranboo squeezed his eyes shut.

Please don't be Dream.

Please don't be Dream.

Please-

"...Boo?"

Tubbo's POV (ooooooo pov change)

It had been almost 45 minutes since Ranboo left to get his things, and Tubbo was worried.

I'm gonna go see what's taking so long.

Tubbo grabbed a hoodie off his bed and pulled it on before going outside. The hoodie was way too big on him and had a comforting smell, almost like tea. Tubbo then realized it was Ranboo's.

The smaller boy shrugged and started walking towards Ranboo's house. The rain was light but still annoying. Tubbo usually enjoyed the rain, only as long as he was inside.

Then he saw Ranboo's body unmoving on the pavement, and Tubbo's heart skipped several beats.

He ran over.

"...Boo?" Tubbo's voice was soft. Tubbo saw Ranboo's eyes open, but the boy didn't move. Tubbo sat down next to him.

"What happened?"

"Dream," Ranboo's voice was sore from crying and full of pain. The broken tone of Ranboos voice made Tubbo's heart nearly crack in two.

"Can you sit up?" Tubbo asked, and Ranboo tried to use his arm for support but yelped in pain and fell. Tubbo winced and immediately reached out to help Ranboo back up.

"Oh, Boo..." The brunette gently pulled Ranboo into his lap and wrapped his arms around him.

Ranboo leaned into's Tubbo's chest and broke down sobbing. Sure, he had been crying before, but this was different. He was just so tired

Ranboo's quiet cries shattered Tubbo's heart, and the brunette slowly stroked Ranboo's hair, trying to comfort him.

They stayed like this for a few minutes, the silence between them only broken by an occasional whimper of pain from Ranboo.

"Should we go home and get you cleaned up?" Tubbo asked softly. Ranboo nodded, and Tubbo helped the tall boy to his feet.

Ranboo put an arm around Tubbo for support, and the two walked back.

Tubbo was already deeply upset about Ranboo, but underneath that, he was furious.

Tubbo swore at that moment that Dream and his stupid fucking friends would pay for this.

He didn't know when.

He didn't know how.

But he was going to get back at that green-eyed shithead no matter what
