Chapter Text
He’s never passed a chunin team before, and it’s because they’ve always been weak.
(He remembers the looks on his friend’s faces as they died. He knows these children aren’t ready.)
They get angry, petulant and frustrated that he won’t give them a chance.
(They would’ve felt worse, if he sent them into a war.)
But: there’s a new team, and they work together. They’re not perfect, but there’s finally potential there. He thinks maybe, this could work.
(But: they fall apart. There are stronger players than him and he can’t protect them. If they get hurt? That’s on him.)
