Would you let me?

Chapter Text

---

A week ago George would’ve already said that he and Dream were pretty touchy and always together. The thing was… they were even more so now. Seems almost impossible, and yet they found a way. Ever since the beach George slowly let himself be the one who asks for and initiates affection, which in turn made Dream even more affectionate.

The shy touch of the back of their hands turned into fingers weaved together in a strong, certain grip. Their cuddles at night turned from sleeping while pressed against each other to George’s legs wrapped around Dream’s hips and Dream's hands finding their place under George’s shirt instead of over it. The occasional kisses Dream would give him turned into George’s face, shoulders and hands being graced with them at every available moment.

Dream seemed more certain nowadays. There was a new dose of confidence in everything he did which made him even harder to resist in the moments of George's weakness when he wanted nothing more than to kiss him silly until they both ran out of breath. But that was a bit of a wild want since he had yet to gather the courage to reciprocate one of the smaller kisses Dream so liked to pepper him with. It was on his bucket list though.

He guessed he was becoming kind of unhinged with all the things he shared with Dream. Once he realized he was in love it was af if the gates opened and suddenly he had so much he wanted to give. He was working his way from the small things, gathering his courage for the bigger.

One thing that was kind of worrying was that because of the raise in affection as well as Dream’s promise to never replace him, he sometimes forgot that they were not,in fact, in a relationship. It was very easy to get lost in Dream’s touch. Which was proving to be dangerous.

He opened his mouth for Dream to roll his eyes at him and then feed him a bit of his slice of dessert. They were getting a bit far with their interactions taking into account they were currently very much in public and could get discovered by a fan of theirs pretty easily. Thankfully, even after more than a month the fact that George was in Florida was still a secret, though they weren’t planning on it staying this way for long.

Dream wanted to recreate the style of pictures George would take with Willbur back in England with both of them posting pictures on either instagram or snapchat of each-other eating their meal with a cute comment underneath. As Dream said, once the world knows that George is here, it would give Dream some motivation to do the face reveal since they wouldn’t be able to go out too much.

So the plan was simple. Pictures already taken and waiting to be posted after they leave the restaurant, Dream’s face obviously covered with an emoji, this wasn’t the face reveal just yet. A full week planned to spend together in the solaritary of their home to bask in the last moments of Dream’s animosity. And then Sapnap was actually going to visit them so that they could either film or stream something together with a face-cam.

Dream wasn’t acting nervous about that just yet, George remembers him saying that the person whose opinion counted the most had already seen him so no one else matters. He also remembers the suggestive look in Dream’s eyes as he said that and his own blush that sprouted on his face in reaction.

“Happy?” Asked him Dream as they left the restaurant. Dream’s arm wrapped around his waist.

“Yes.” He chirped happily. “The food was great.”

“I’m glad.” He smiled at him. They walked up to the car, Dream opening the doors for him,
George way past commenting on that behavior after the first twenty times (It was actually nice having someone do those little things for you, even if you were perfectly capable.), and then walking around the car to get to his own seat.

They both took out their phones, captions ready, though not discussed between each other - it was meant to be a surprise. His own read “Florida date”, as a tribute for Wilbur always captioning their pictures with something like ‘cute date’. He never reciprocated that sentiment with him, but was more than okay to do that with Dream.

“Ready?” Asked Dream.

“Ready.” Nodded George. And the news was out.

---

“You know, I almost feel like our house is about to get stormed with fans.” He laughed. He was scrolling on his phone while sitting sideways on Dream’s lap as the other was editing his newest video. “We only announced that I’m in Florida and they are freaking out.” The twitter 3 top trending tabs had to do with them, which wasn’t that surprising, but still a big deal.

“Well, that’s because both of us used the word ‘date’ in the capture.” Said Dream ruffling slightly his hair. “Some of them are taking it as a ‘we are dating’ announcement.”

He actually had yet to check Dream’s caption. He switched the app to instagram and clicked on the newest post. It read “The loveliest date” Ooh. Yea, that made sense. Why people thought it was a relationship status update. It didn’t bother him, obviously, but shouldn’t they…

“Shouldn’t we… clarify something?” He asked, unsure.

“Do you feel the need to?” Asked him Dream, eyes directed to the screen. “We haven’t said directly ‘Yes, we are dating.’, so I don’t feel like we have to.” He paused and turned his head to look at him. “Does it bother you that people might think we are actually dating?”

“Not really.” He said, to which Dream smiled and gave him a kiss on a check.

“Let’s just live it then.”

---

Sapnap arrived five days later, bringing a lot of chaotic energy into their house. This time he was staying for a whole week instead of just a day or two, so they had a lot more time and possibilities to spend it together.

One thing George was a bit worried about, that he did not admit to Dream, was whether Dream would start acting differently around him because Sapnap was there to witness their antics. But after the first time Dream peppered his face with kisses with Sapnap in the same room, not saying a word about what he was witnessing, his uncertainties disappeared pretty instantly.

Sapnap didn’t leave a single comment about anything the two of them did, no matter how much PDA they performed in front of him, which George was grateful for, but also slightly suspicious. He would have expected some questions from the nineteen year old, but, for now, come out with none.

The idea for the face reveal they actually settled down on was a cooking stream. Simple (or not), classic, and a lot of fun with the right people. Dream asked his mum for one of her recipes for something special and it took them two days to move streaming equipment from Dream’s room to the kitchen and make sure everything was working correctly. The 4K camera that Dream bought a long time ago, especially for this moment, was about to be in use for the first time ever.

“Okay. Are we sure we have everything?” George asked, looking at the pile of ingredients stacked on one side on the kitchen island. Some flour, eggs, vegetables…

“Yes, George. We checked five times.” Said Dream, bumping him playfully while walking behind him to remove some stuff from the kitchen that would get in their way while cooking.

“Chill out George.” Called Sapnap from the couch in the living room. He was currently just relaxing before the long stream. “You are more nervous than Dream.”

That was actually true. George felt like he was the only one caring about this whole ordeal while Dream and Sapnap just didn’t give a damn. What could he say? That was just his curse. Being nervous about things other people were about to do, even if it didn’t affect him at all. Only it did somewhat affect him in this case, so he felt like he had a right to be slightly nervous, even if he was overdoing it by a mile.

“Come here George.” Said Dream, pulling him slightly to himself. “You look like you are about to explode.” George fell into his arms without questions, breathing deeply and immediately feeling the calming effect Dream’s touch had on him. It felt like a dam opening and letting all of his nerves just release from his body. He let himself slump and enjoy the hug.

“We are starting in five.” Warned him Dream. “Will you be okay?” George sighted.

“Yea. I will.” He said. “Just a minute longer.” Dream’s arms tightened around him.

“Are we ready?!” Shouted Sapnap entering the kitchen and breaking their moment.

“Sure.”

---

Camera on and stream on a starting the stream image, they all mentally prepared for what was about to go down. Only thirty seconds. Ten. Five. Start.

"Hi." Said Dream, looking straight at the camera. "Welcome to my cooking face reveal stream." He showed off his bright smile.

Streaming is a weird thing. George decided. Here they were, in their house, doing their own thing while hundreds of thousands watched. And like… he knew the stream was a big deal. That people were freaking out. Every time he caught a glimpse of chat, the messages were going on way too quickly to catch anything. But here, inside, where it was only them, it was hard to comprehend the amount of impact everything they did had.

Through the stream George found himself being the one to search for comfort from Dream instead of it being the other way around. He would catch his free hand under the kitchen island, bump into him slightly while walking by, or try to catch eye contact with him for a bit of assurance.

It wasn't that Dream was holding their usual affection back while on camera, they were all just busy with their own steps. They had to be extra careful not to cut themselves, because twitch did not like the view of blood on the screen.

Sapnap made a point to make a mess while doing absolutely anything he was asked to, which made George and Dream ban him to the other end of the island to make a mess over there instead of near their stations.

Food turned out great, though Dream argued that his mum made it even better than what they've achieved. The presentation side was rather wonky, but what else would you expect from having Sapnap 'help' then out. Hah, he says that, but it was actually fun having someone add some more livelihood into the stream.

Empty plates in the sink they sat down on chairs Dream grabbed from the nearby room. Some q&a was suggested, so now they were just scrolling through Twitter trying to filter out things they have answered before. Dreams arm slotted being George's shoulders, making him lean into Dream without a second thought.

"How long has George been in Florida?." Read the question Sapnap. "Oh, they are gonna be upset about that." He laughed. They did keep it a secret for a bit of time.

"I've been here for about… one and a half, almost two months?" He looked at Dream for his confirming nod. “Yea, sorry about that.” He shrugged his shoulders, smiling sheepishly. He wasn’t really sorry, he enjoyed his time with Dream without their fans knowing that they had met up, but could imagine why people would be kind of frustrated at being kept out of the secret for this long.

“What did the meetups look like? Emm…” Read out loud Dream. “So, me and Sapnap have seen each other before, obviously. So you guys already know about that one. George had seen Sapnap for the first time… I think about a week after he arrived in Florida? Maybe two? Something like that.”

“I think it was two.” He added. “So Sapnap came to visit just for a couple of days to meet up before he had to go back to Texas and it was cool. We hung up inside, because the three of us together was just a bit too much to go out and yea…”

“You guys are so lame.” Commented Sapnap making fun of them. “They obviously mean if we hugged or not.” He rolled his eyes. “Me and George did hug, and those two idiots.” We pointed at them with his thumb. “Have not separated since the moment they met. It’s honestly disgusting.” He pretended to gag.

“Like you’re any better with Karl.” Laughed Dream. “You’re just jealous he’s not here. As for me and George - George straight up threw himself into my arms.”

“I tripped.” He defended himself. “But, yea…” To be honest, whether he tripped or not, the outcome would have been probably still the same.

“Are we going to get some vlogs and irl content?” Another question was ready out loud. “Maybe?” Said Dream. “Sapnap is staying with us only for another week or so, we will probably do another stream in that time. As for later… I don’t know. Do you want to film some vlogs?” Dream directed the question at George.

“I mean, we can.” He answered. “But we don’t really do anything crazy.” They usually just played games together, talked, went on walks and to restaurants. He can’t imagine it being too fascinating for an outside person to watch. They weren’t like Tommy - jumping off of planes and constantly meeting up with new people. It was just them. Being together. Existing in the same space. Interacting with each other.

“Imagine you did a sleeping stream. They would’ve loved that.” Remarked Sapnap sarcastically. He was very much aware of their nightly arrangements, having seen them walk into the same room to go to sleep multiple times before. He never commented on that before, though.

George felt blush appear on his face, which was not a good sign. Without it, the comment might have gone forgotten, but now surely there will be some suspicions as to what Sapnap was suggesting with his words. He wasn’t ashamed of the fact that he and Dream shared the same bed. He didn’t particularly care about other people knowing either, he actually liked the thought of others knowing how close they were, but it still made him blush.

“Welp, and with that.” Said Dream kissing him on the forehead and only worsening the red wash on his face. “I think we are going to end the stream. Thank you guys, it was a lot of fun.”

---

If he thought dnf was trending after the ‘date’ pictures they posted before, now it was on a whole other level. The tag about Dream’s face reveal was still number one trending, but that wasn’t by a large margin.

“I think they are pretty convinced me and Dream are dating.” He commented, scrolling through all the tweets with the ‘dnf’ tag. Dream was currently in the middle of taking a shower, so for the time being it was just George and Sapnap sitting in the same room.

“Are you not?” Said Sapnap from the other end of the couch. George turned to him, surprised.

“Did you… thought we were?” He asked, confused.

“I mean, yeah. What else was I supposed to think? You hug and kiss all the time. You sleep in the same bed. You keep using the ‘we’ pronoun.” Listed the things Sapnap, counting them on his fingers. ” Are you sure you are not dating?”

Well, fair enough. George could understand how that conclusion could have been reached. But still…

“And you didn’t say anything?”

“Why would I?” Said Sapnap. “It’s your own deal. I was just happy for you. Still am, even if you are claiming you are ‘not dating’.” He made a quote with his fingers at the last two words.

George opened his mouth to add something more, but fell short, the words getting lost on his tongue. He closed his mouth with a cling, turning around to go back to scrolling through twitter. If even Sapnap was convinced they were dating, was there anyone that was not? He will probably need to talk with Dream about that to help him make sense of everything.

Speaking of the devil, Dream just walked into the room, his hair slightly damp. He sat down next to George, only to grab him by his hips and pull into his own laps. Sapnap raised a suggestive eyebrow at that. “Not dating.” He mouthed to him again, not missing to omit the finger quotes.

---

Thinking logically never worked out too well for George, but he was attempting it once again, having learned almost nothing. For the last couple of days, he was messing about in his head with the idea of asking Dream to officially be his boyfriend.

Up to the day Sapnap had to leave, each time he and Dream did something ‘couple-like’ he would do this face at George. Which meant he was wearing it on his face nearly constantly, driving his point across to George without him being able to dismiss it.

Well, they were pretty close together, but that didn’t necessarily mean that Dream wanted to be with him. Even if that one time he said George didn’t have to worry about him finding somebody else after saying that one day he would like to get married and… Ught. It was so hard to process anything when his mind was in between freaking out and doubting itself at the same time!

He felt like he was getting a ton of mixed signals, even if the signals weren’t mixed at all. They were pretty straight forward, but he still wasn’t sure he wasn’t just imagining everything.

“Hi Georgie.” Said Dream, walking into the kitchen to give him a kiss right next to his lips. You see what he means?! “You don’t often wake up before me. Is something on your mind?” It was kind of annoying how well Dream knew him at this point.

“Just a mess in my head.” He said, a bit ashamed and hiding his face in Dream’s chest. The blonde hummed, the vibrations transferring into George’s body.

“You wanna talk about it?”

“Not yet.” George almost begged. “I have to make sense of something first.” Dream didn’t argue.

“How about a beach day?” He asked instead. “Would that help?” George smiled softly.

“Sure.”

---

“No!” George screamed high-pitch as Dream caught him by his ankle. He hopped on one leg trying to break free from the grip. “Let me go, let me go, let me go!” And he went underwater as Dream pulled on his leg and made him lose his balance. He glared murderously at the other as soon as he found his way over the surface. The blond had an audacity to smile at him brightly, droplets of water dripping from his slicked back hair.

He tried to have his revenge by splashing water at Dream, only to have thrice the amount returned back at him together with Dream literally throwing himself at him, taking them both down to the bottom before surfacing again. He sputtered the water that made his way into his mouth.

“You’re so annoying.” He whined at Dream, who still had a strong hold across his back, holding the brunet close to himself. The other laughed brightly, his eyes sparkling in the sun.

“You like it.” He said, poking him lightly in the side. George felt too tired to try to escape. Dream bowed down a little analyzing his appearance. “Are you getting cold?” He asked caringly. “I think your lips are getting slightly purple. We should probably get out. We’ve been in the water for almost an hour. “ He swiped back the hair sticking to George’s forehead.

“Carry me out.” Demanded George. He could walk by himself, but was tired and didn’t feel like threading through the water to the shore. Dream only snickered slightly before lifting him up.

“Okay, princess.” George didn’t comment on that, deep inside being perfectly happy with the nickname, but that wasn’t something he was going to admit any time soon.

Once out of water he started to really feel how much warmth was sucked right out of his by the waves. The ocean in Florida was much warmer than the one in England, but staying in it for too long still had its effects. Dream sat him down on their blanket and then reached for a towel trying to try him off as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

“Cold?” He asked him and George nodded. Even with the sun penetrating the top layers of his skin, he felt really cold on the inside. “Okay, come here.” Dream beaconed him onto his laps and threw another towel around both of them. He rubbed the brunet sides up and down, trying to speed up his warming process.

George relaxed in Dream’s arms, his hands resting on the other’s shoulder blades, feeling the warmth emanating off of Dream’s skin. Within five minutes he almost felt himself doze off when Dream whispered to him.

“I think someone just took a photo of us.” Well, if someone on the internet still didn’t think they were together, they probably did now. Which reminded George.

“Did you know that Sapnap thought we were dating?” He asked Dream. He wanted to know whether it would be something Dream would find displeasing. It was one thing for their fans to ship them and completely another for one of their closest friends to assume they were together.

“Is that so?” Dream said, looking into the distance.”Well, that’s not very surprising, to be honest. We weren’t to light on the PDA around him.”

“Does it… bother you? That he thought that?” George inquired further, focusing on Dream to inspect his reaction.

“No, why would it?” Dream asked, a surprise note in his voice.

George fell silent for a moment. A million thoughts swirled in his head, not one of them able to be distinguished. He wanted to know more. To actually ask the question he really wanted to ask, but was terrified of reaching the point of no return, where he would no longer be able to even attempt to claim his feelings for Dream were strictly platonic. He clenched his fists.

“Do you ever think about it?” He asked, almost trembling from nerves. “Us, being actually together?”
From where his head was placed on, he could hear Dream’s heart rate pick up.

“Yes.” He said, carefully. “Do you?”

“Do you think it would be very different from how we are now?” He asked, instead of answering. He had to truly concentrate on his breathing. Maybe an attempt at this type of conversation should not have been done out on a public beach. There weren’t that many people around, not any on a ten meters radius, as they managed to find a semi-secluded spot, but it still wasn’t ideal.

“Not too different at all.” Said Dream, one of his hands finding its way up to George’s hair and fingers threading through the damp strands of hair. “It would still be us, as we are, just a little bit more.

“More how?” He swallowed the saliva gathering excessively in his mouth.

“Well…” Dream’s thumb caught on the bottom of George’s chin, lifting his face up before leaving a kiss right next to his lips. “This, for example.” Dream explained. “Would have been on the lips.” George blushed furiously, no longer feeling cold in any shape or form.

“Dream.” He sounded almost desperate. “I… can we…? Do you…?”

“Take your time.” Assured him Dream, making George understand that he already knew what George was trying to say and was not going to reject him. The green eyes were full of joy and excitement. George closed his and took a deep breath in, realizing that he did start to tremble at some point. His muscles twitched a couple more times before he managed to get them under control.

“Can we… be a.. couple?” He articulated slowly, taking a half a second break between words.

“Yes, we can.” Said Dream, his voice sounding so sweet it almost made George melt. “Can I kiss you?”

George felt ready to faint as he nodded his head. Dream picked his face delicately between the palms of his hands, his thumbs stroking softly his cheeks. He slowly moved closer, making sure to give George time to move away shall he want to. George couldn’t imagine a universe in which he would ever move away. And as their lips met, the feeling that swirled through George’s body could only be described as utterly overwhelming and exhilarating.

It wasn’t his first kiss. But it might have just as well been, because never before had he felt anything even remotely close to what he was feeling now. The sensation of Dream’s lips moving against his, the delicate hold Dream’s had on his face, the way their bodies met together. It was indescribable.

They slowly separated, panting lightly, even though the kiss wasn’t that intensive.

"Is this it?" Dream whispered to him gently between quick breaths. "Are you mine now?" A breath got caught in George's throat.

"Please." He managed to somehow say out loud, the word, for some reason, seeming the most appropriate at that moment. The triumph that painted itself on Dream's face was almost impossible to describe. His whole face lighted up, and the next thing George knew was the feeling of Dream's lips crushing against his once again.

It was... It was something completely otherworldly. He felt electricity flow through his bloodstream as he was kissed so passionately but at the same time so gently it made everything around them disappear. All he knew were the hands caressing his skin, making every square inch of it tingle, and the lips moving against his. He didn't think it could feel like this. So overwhelming and yet not entirely enough.

Dream ended the kiss, putting a couple of inches of space between them. It was neither time nor space to take it any further. George desperately tried to catch his breath, it being taken away not by the fierceness of the kiss, but by its depth. He found himself unable to fully process what was going on around him, all of his senses hyper fixated on having Dream this close.

"I love you.” Dream said with all the tenderness in the world.“ It was so much, too much, and yet George found himself desperate to return it.

"I-I-I..." He felt himself getting stuck. He swallowed his saliva before taking a deep breath and trying once more. "I love you." Came out of his lips smoothly.

"Good job." Praised him Dream. "Now let me take you home so I can kiss you some more."

"Okay." Said George, feeling almost floaty from happiness. Dream looked at him seriously for a second.

"I hope you understand I'm not letting you go." He whispered to George, making him tremble in a way that had nothing to do with his usual nervous shakes.

"Yes, I... Please hold on to me." He pleaded shyly. The look on Dream's face became even gentler.

"Don't worry. If you let me, I'll have you forever." He said, each word filled with so many emotions George could and couldn't name.

"It's a promise then." He whispered back, leaving another kiss against Dream's lips. Forever seemed fair enough.
