All Was Golden In The Sky

Chapter 32: Epilogue

Notes:

Ok this was so much fun that I am definitely continuing! Let me know what you guys might want to see, the one I'm working on now is a pure fluff piece and another totally self-indulgence because it's a parody of the Aristocats aka the movie I watched on repeat as a kid.

Hope you enjoyed the journey!

Thanks for reading <3

Chapter Text

Izuku ran down the hall and let his stockinged feet slide as he turned the corner. He came to a sudden halt and stopped just in time to keep his nose from smashing into a muscular chest barely covered by the servant’s uniform. He looked up to find Eijirou smiling brightly down at him.

“Hey, Izuku-bro! Better hurry, his majesty is about to go full beast,” the servant laughed. Izuku let out a small chuckle and stepped around Eijirou to continue down the hall.

“It’s ok, I think Denki already wrote my eulogy,” Izuku called over his shoulder and heard the man’s hearty laugh.

He ran up to the door and could already hear a familiar growling coming from the other side. He opened the door and watched with great amusement as the prince bit his tongue with obvious effort while Izuku’s mom made adjustments to his suit jacket. He really was doing a good job of not yelling at her but he just couldn’t suppress that growl.

“What are you smiling at, Nerd?” Katsuki shouted at him.

“Nothing at all, your majesty,” Izuku said with a mock bow.

“You little sh…”

“All done,” Inko cut him off with her sweet voice. “Now I’ll just take this to do these last-minute adjustments and you’ll be all set for the ball tonight!”

Katsuki growled louder but managed a “Thank you” from between clenched teeth. Izuku and Inko swapped places, Inko closing the door behind her. Izuku reached out and let his fingers skim lightly from Katsuki’s pinky, up past his elbow, then shoulder, finally coming to rest at the man’s neck.

“Formal wear looks good on you, ya know?” Izuku said in a low voice and the last of the tension in the prince’s shoulders ebbed.

“Tch,” Katsuki stepped up to be flush with Izuku, placing his hands firmly on his hips while he closed any distance between them. “I look good in everything.”

“Been a man for a week and your ego is already big enough to crush small children,” Izuku laughed.

“You know it’s true,” Katsuki’s grinned, “and ya know what, I think I look best on you.” His low voice and hooded eyes did terribly wonderful things to Izuku.

“I think we need more proof,” Izuku tilted his head back and met Katsuki with a teasing kiss. They nipped and licked and just as Izuku was getting his tongue past Katsuki’s teeth, there was a knock on the door.

“Go away,” Katsuki growled, refusing to let Izuku move an inch away.

“Nope, Izuku needs to get ready,” Ochako’s voice was muffled by the door but they both knew she would drag him out if she needed to.

“Remind me again why we are having a fucking ball,” Katsuki grumbled.

“Well, for starters there's the whole ‘everyone thinks your dead’ thing that we need to sort out. It’ll be good for the kingdom to see you healthy and ya know, alive. Not to mention how excited everyone around here is. I saw Aizawa and Yamada practicing a waltz in the front-drive. And you giving the whole village clothes from your parents' wardrobes had my mom crying in excitement at the idea of all the hemming and repairing.”

“Ok, ok, fuck I get it. To be fair, Yamada hasn’t stopped touching Aizawa all fucking week, yesterday I saw him picking onions with one hand so he could keep holding old Eye Bags' hand. And we both know your mom will cry at anything and it’s not like the clothes are doing any good rotting away here while my parents are fuck knows where.” Katsuki dropped his forehead onto Izuku’s and avoided his eye.

“Hey, we’ll find them. After tonight, Aizawa officially takes over as advisor to the crown then you and me,” Izuku lifted Katsuki’s chin forcing red to meet green again. “We’ll be free to go find your parents and undo everything Tomura did throughout the kingdom.”

Katsuki lifted his hand to Izuku’s cheek and ran his thumb over the small x scar hiding there amongst his freckles.

“I hate that he left a mark on you,” Katsuki whispered before leaning in to kiss the spot.

“Please don't make me come in there!” Ochako admonished through the door again and Izuku let out a breathy laugh. He kissed his prince once more, long and slow, savoring the fact that he could do this at all.

“I love you, Kacchan.”

“I love you too, Deku.”
