Chapter Text
A transcript of the rogue radio broadcast across camp; telling the story of “The Marriage that Never Was”.
Original broadcast began recording at: 11:30PM, 02/10/20XX.
This transcript is told from the Las
Nevadas Sector’s point of view.
[The silence of all the sleeping
residents’ rest is interrupted by
similar static as the previous
broadcast. The entire sect. wakes up and
each member mumbles their own complaints
at the early rising]
Schlatt * annoyed whispering * What the fuck? Did you turn off the radio?
Quackity * annoyed whispering* They are off.
Schlatt Then turn them off again.
Quackity I just said they’re off, dumbass.
[Panicked murmurs broke out among the
sect.]
Sam * softly * Boys, stay close. Ponkie, get over here.
[Quackity moves to examine the unplugged
radio]
The Broadcaster Welcome back, listeners.
[Sam pulls Grizzly and Bizly close,
attempting to cover their ears.]
Sam Cover Condi’s ears, I don't want them to hear this.
[Ponk follows as instructed by Sam.
Quackity shows that the radio did in
fact, not have any way to play the
broadcast.]
Schlatt * unsettled * What the fuck?
[A song begins playing in the
background; said song being Daisy Bell.]
The Broadcaster Today I’ll be telling you about the marriage that never was. This story is set in the early 1900’s. The story follows two people, two men to be exact.
Charlie That's so old.
The Broadcaster Now, these two men had a case of unrequited love, well, somewhat, unrequited. You see now, this love was frowned upon at this time; as I’m sure you're all aware. One of the two, * emphasised * hated, himself for thinking these things, to the point where he willingly allowed himself to be taken into a conversion therapy.
[The next dialogue and part of the story
is lost to static, and it continues like
that for the next hour. When the
broadcast returns the broadcaster is in
the middle of a sentence.]
Sam Clearly this broadcaster doesn't have very high quality equipment to actually broadcast this.
The Broadcaster …Returned, although he wasn't alone. In all the time of him being away from the man, he had gotten married and.. made a life for himself. I’d suppose it's safe to say, the other man was… sad despite having a ring himself. Something was off about the man he’d met months ago.
[A soft cough along with a very quiet
hum, neither loud enough to have come
from the broadcaster.]
The broadcast suddenly cuts here, the last sound that was made
appeared to be a quiet gasp; as if somebody had entered the room of
the broadcaster and suddenly cut the connection.
End of transcription.
