Chapter Text
Set up – Hope is back at the school and so is Alaric and there having an argument in front of everyone
&
‘I keep telling you,’ Alaric sighed through gritted teeth staring Hope and her impassive face down while more people than he would like watched ‘Landon is ok where he is, he forgives you, you don’t need to feel guilt for what happened so.’ Alaric made to keep on with pushing this point which he had been pushing since he first walked back into the school and found that Hope was already here but she cut across him stopping him before he had chance to continue.
‘And I keep telling you,’ Hope said her voice level as if she was just talking about the weather ‘I, don’t, care,’ she singled out each word as she spoke making everything she was saying very clear. ‘I don’t want or need Landon’s forgiveness,’ Hope continued staring him down actually smiling ‘I don’t need any of yours,’ she added looking at the others ‘not even yours,’ she said turning back to face Alaric ‘I’m free from all of that.’
‘You know Lizzie is off doing god only knows what now because of you,’ Alaric countered trying to change tack and see if leaning into the guilt would do anything here. However before Hope could say anything Alaric heard the sound of movement behind him so that plus the look of shock on Hope’s face made him turn around forgetting Hope for the moment. Alaric’s first thought was of Landon thinking maybe he had figured something out which would be very good in terms of Hope but as he turned he saw something which was a much more welcome sight.
‘Lizzie,’ Alaric said breathing an excited sigh of relief seeing his daughter standing there looking a little bit run down but ok. He heard Lizzie ask something about him being ok now and not being brain dead but Alaric was too relieved to listen or even address those questions, rushing forward quickly he embraced Lizzie just wanting to hold her close. Holding his daughter tight Alaric just wanted to stay in the moment for a little while and forget about everything however hugging Lizzie was different so that proved impossible. Lizzie was stronger now and he could feel it in the firmness of the hug so Alaric quite soon found himself breaking the embrace and falling back in to the situation he was currently dealing with.
‘I’m glad you’re here Lizzie,’ Alaric began trying to smile as Lizzie who looked very concerned about something which he would guess was Hope who was still behind him. ‘You don’t need to worry about Hope,’ he continued looking at Hope briefly who looked kind of uncertain about what was going on and then back to Lizzie ‘she says she’s not going to hurt anyone and besides its better that you’re here.’ Nodding as he spoke now Alaric kept addressing his daughter who was looking kind of guilty now for some reason ‘Aurora is not someone you want to team up with Lizzie if the stories I have heard about her are anything to go by she is really dangerous.’
For some reason saying this made Lizzie look more guilty however before Alaric could ask what was going on with her he got his answer ‘out of curiosity what stories,’ Aurora asked appearing behind Lizzie looking even worse than Lizzie did.
‘OK,’ Hope began appearing next to Alaric her voice sounding curious now ‘what have you two done, you’d only come here if you didn’t have a choice and frankly you both look like you’ve been running away from something.’
‘Well that would be because we have Hope,’ Lizzie said indignantly glaring in Hope’s direction.
‘Lizzie,’ Alaric said getting his daughters attention ‘how bad is it?’
‘O, it’s bad,’ Aurora said smiling a kind of maniacal smile her voice dripping with sarcasm ‘it’s pissed off gods bad.’
‘My office, now,’ Alaric sighed rolling his eyes as he spoke, if this was going to be another world ending situation he didn’t want the rest of the school to find out just yet.
&
I’d imagine there would be some kind of break here where you see another storyline going on within the episode
&
‘Ok, start explaining,’ Alaric began trying not to get angry once he was inside his office with Lizzie and Aurora, Hope had come as well explaining bluntly if he tried to stop her she’d put him back in a coma.
Both Aurora and Lizzie exchanged a look here but after a minutes silence Lizzie started to Explain ‘look,’ she began slowly ‘I thought the gods might be away to fix everything, I mean god,’ as lizzie said this last part she made an expressive motion with her hands. ‘With that in mind we tracked this hipster god down,’ Lizzie continued actually looking kind of embarrassed as she relayed the story ‘and we got her to show us where some of the other gods were so we could release them and get them to fix things.’
‘Let me guess,’ Hope said cutting in here smiling a mocking smile ‘you told them about me and now there looking to kill me for the crime of being born.’
‘Actually no little bird,’ Aurora countered smiling a mocking smile as she spoke ‘they don’t care about you, the problem is as it turns out what scares the gods was closer than any of us realised.’
‘What,’ Hope said taken aback by this response a look of bewilderment spreading across her face.
‘Yeah,’ Alaric nodded concerned by this statement looking at Lizzie meaningfully who for her part was looking like she really didn’t want to be there right now ‘what does that mean?’
‘As it turns out,’ Aurora went on still speaking in a mocking voice but one twinged with concern now ‘what scares the gods are syphons, apparently they were created to kill gods and if that wasn’t bad enough they now know heretics are a thing.’ Taking a breath here Aurora gave Hope a meaningful look as she continued ‘your grandmother you see came up with vampirism after the gods went away so the gods now know that Lizzie the thing that terrifies them has quite the power boost.’
‘Syphons were created to kill gods,’ Alaric said shocked his mouth falling open in shock at receiving this bit of information and thinking about how if this had been known things could have been different. As he thought about it Alaric did see how it could work a syphon could leach away a gods power if they were in a fight so whatever the god did they would always get weak while the syphon only got stronger, eventually the god would probably have nothing left. Wanting to understand this better Alaric made to ask about this more as well as asking exactly what had happened but before he could Hope cut across him.
‘That’s not funny,’ Hope began pointing a finger at Lizzie apparently not believing this development ‘don’t you two go going making up stories and besides this doesn’t even make any sense.’
‘You think I’d make something like this up,’ Lizzie hissed speaking up now clearly offended by Hopes accusation.
‘Sure,’ Hope shrugged speaking in a sort of accusing tone of voice ‘a story like this would be a great way to distract me from whatever god wants to kill me now.’
‘O I get it,’ Lizzie said nodding as she spoke voice getting louder now ‘the god that wants to kill you, everything has to revolve around you doesn’t it Hope, you find out gods are a thing you think they must want something from you.’
‘Does tend to be how things work,’ Hope spat back her voice cutting in its edginess ‘everyone hates the tribrid, why would they hate you.’
‘Girls,’ Alaric tried sensing this was going in a bad direction and actually somehow managing to feel embarrassed that Aurora was seeing this who for her part was just looking shocked however it was rather out of Alaric’s control now.
‘Ha,’ Lizzie yelled pointing a finger at Hope laughing a triumphant laugh ‘I knew you would be like this, you just have to be the centre of attention, you can’t stand the fact that for once I might be at the centre of something.’
‘That’s not true,’ Hope yelled back sounding defensive now ‘do you really think I like having to deal with constant threats, it’s not fun Lizzie, I don’t like any of it why would I?’
‘I think you like being the centre of attention,’ Lizzie countered quickly her voice still loud and full of hurt and anger ‘I think you like having everyone worrying about you which is why your jealous of me right now Hope.’
‘I am not jealous,’ Hope screamed stepping towards Lizzie as she spoke who took a step closer as well so they could both square off ‘you’re making up a story to make trouble, why would anyone want to hurt you people want me not you Lizzie.’
‘See there it is,’ Lizzie spat pointing with her finger ‘I finally get to be the centre of attention and you want that, you can’t let me have it this one time.’
‘That’s not,’ Hope began but then she stopped her expression suddenly confused, there was a moment of silence as Hope seemingly looked within herself but then everything changed.
‘Hope, did your switch just flip,’ Aurora of all people asked in a shocked bemused voice sending Lizzie a knowing look as she did. Hope didn’t say anything but she did look between Alaric and Lizzie and back again confusion clear on her face giving both of them all the answer they required in regards to the state of her switch.
‘Seriously,’ Lizzie screamed seeing what had happened ‘after everything we have all done my sister included, jealousy gets your humanity back.’
‘Lizzie,’ Hope began in a small embarrassed voice but it was too late Lizzie was storming out of the office in a rage no doubt looking to get as far away from Hope as possible.
Hope watched Lizzie go then turned to face Alaric but he spoke before she had chance ‘go after her,’ he said in a commanding voice ‘make sure she doesn’t leave.’ Thankfully Hope did as he asked without retort following after Lizzie with all kinds of emotions showing on her face which was a sure sign her humanity was back. ‘Well that’s a relief,’ Alaric sighed speaking more to himself than anything else watching Hope go glad that at least he no longer had that problem to deal with.
‘You know those two are quite the pare,’ Aurora said drawing Alaric’s attention now as she sat down on one of his office chares ‘neither of them see it but they act like sisters.’
‘That’s not necessarily a bad thing,’ Alaric frowned turning to face Aurora taking a careful step in her direction not sure how best to handle things with her, especially now the two of them were alone.
‘Never said it was,’ Aurora smiled mockingly looking up at Alaric as he got close ‘but I would add I think things went in the wrong direction for them.’
‘What’s that supposed to mean,’ Alaric asked still frowning wishing he didn’t have to deal with a half mad vampire right now and could instead be helping Lizzie and Hope deal with their issues.
‘Well,’ Aurora said shrugging theatrically ‘it’s not like Hope is more like a part of your family it’s the other way, Lizzie is actually quite like a Mikilson, especially now.’
Choosing to ignore that little insult Alaric decided to change the subject ‘what do you want Aurora,’ he asked clenching his jaw as he spoke ‘why are you here.’
‘Well there are a couple of reasons,’ Aurora began sitting up ‘but one of the biggest ones is that I want the chance to use your so called therapy box.’
&
That’s where I imagine the episode would end
