Chapter Text
Looking around her, Luz had notice she’s home.
But something is off. She notices she’s no longer stitch to Amity. But it isn’t just that. The sky and moon is crimson red, as the yard is covered by fog, with the trees looked dead and rotten. She turned around to see her house in a worse condition. Windows either cracked or shattered with wooden boards boarded up. The paint peeling and worn off, with the porch and walls shows cracks. Her home, the home she grew up in is in shambles.
“I’m… home?” Luz gave out a whisper.
Standing on the porch, or rather cowering is Camila. Her mom cowered in fear at the sight of Luz.
“No… Stay away!”
“Mom…” Luz sees her mom “Mom it’s me!” Taking a step forward.
“Don’t come any closer!”
Luz feels a tight pressure in her chest, barely choke back a gasp “Mom, it’s Luz, your Mija! Remember?” Luz cried out.
“You can’t be her! My Luz been dead for years, you aren’t her!”
Luz felt her throat tighten. Tears coming out, her mother words hurts worst then what had happened at Grom. She clutches her hand on her chest, feeling her heart beating faster than before.
“You don’t mean that.” Luz choke with tears falling down her face “Mom… I’m not dead… I’m…”
“Stay away from her, monster!” Shouted a voice.
Quickly turning around, Luz sees an endless mob. The mob are faceless and are completely covered by shadow. Only thing visible are the glowing light from their mouths. Sneers and contemptuous jabs filled the air.
“How hideous it is.”
“Attacking that poor woman. What a heartless monster.”
“Ew, what is the black stuff oozing out from it?”
Looking down at her arms, to her horror her arms and hands is covered of stitches. Black fluid leaking out from the stitches. In a panic frenzy she tried to wipe the black stuff off, only for more to continue spilling out. Her face also is leaking black ooze as some dripped onto her clothes. Luz tried and tried to wipe them off but to no appeal.
The figures then pointed their shadowy fingers at her. Laughing and disgusts sneers. Luz began to hypervibration. It’s too much, first her mother didn’t recognize her, and now she had to stomach this public humiliation. She backup until she was cornered by the front door. With her tears falling down on her cheek, mixing with the black ooze.
Suddenly, she hears banging. The banging sounds like it was coming from behind her. Turning her head Luz gasp in surprise. From the other side of the door is none other than Amity. Like her Amity also has stitches sew onto her flesh with black fluid leaking out from the sews. Amity eyes were red and puffy with tears coming out mixing with the black stuff.
“Amity?!” Luz shout in surprise fully facing the door, looking through the glass.
“Luz! Help me!” Amity begged “Get me out of here!”
Luz eyes widen with her pupils shrunk. Following her gaze Amity look back as a tall figure with her face covered in shadow.
“How disgusting!” Sneer the woman “A disfigurement undead husk of a daughter brings nothing but shame to the Blight name! I should’ve let you stay dead! Buried and forgotten!”
“Stop it! That’s not true!” Amity clutches her head with her ears covered.
“You let yourself get captured! You’re a Blight and yet you let it happen! I should’ve known I raised a weakling of a daughter.”
Amity slides down the door sobbing “I-It… It’s not my fault…” Amity sobbed “It isn’t my fault.”
“Amity! I’m coming!” Luz shout through the glass.
She then tried to knock the door down but with no luck. Luz hears the crowed laugh at her misery. Looking at the crowd she notices her mom is gone.
“Mom? Mamá?!” Luz looked around, she notices her mom in the crowd as if she is running “Mamá, wait, come back! Don’t go!” Luz called out as she runs after her.
Pushing past the crowd she ran after her ““No! Wait up, I can explain all of this! I’m still your daughter! I’m still Luz!” Luz called out to her.
But as she steps onto the street. She fell into a black ooze lagoon. She felt the cold, wet fluid as she tries to keep afloat. Eyeing at the fleeing woman as she sank deeper into the black ooze sea, Luz let out one last cry “DON’T LEAVE ME!” Her vision went black.
However, suddenly light appeared above her. She can’t move her arms. Nor her entire body. Looking down she sees that she’s strapped onto an operating table. Looking to her side she sees Amity by her. Strapped onto the table as well.
“A-Amity?”
“Luz?”
“Welcome back.” Said a raspy voice.
Both Luz and Amity felt their blood run cold when they hear that familiar voice. They turned and saw none other than Julius Forster. Holding onto a blood stain scalp. He stares at them with hollow eye sockets with black fluid streaming down from cheeks and chin.
“Let’s pick up where we left off, shall we?”
He then turned into a shadow and launches at the two girls. As they let of a scream as they get covered by darkness.
Flung out from their sheets with a startle. The stitch-up girls gasping as they clutch their chest, feeling it beating fast. Sweating which soak the clothes they’re wearing. Looking at their surroundings to see they’re back inside the bedroom. The place they were in was all a bad dream. Their gasping slowly broke into a sob. They pull their legs to their chest burying their face, silently crying as they tremble from the nightmare they had.
“Amity…? Are you still there…?” Luz asked within her thoughts.
“Yeah… I-I’m still here.” Said Amity sadly.
“Did…? Did we have-”
“Have the same nightmare?” Amity finished the sentence “Yeah… We did.”
Now fully awake they don’t have any interest of going back to sleep. Because they’re too shaken from the ordeal they went through. Not wanting to go back to the same nightmare. Too worried and afraid to have any more bad dreams.
The look down to see King still sleeping peacefully. All the girls want was to scoop him up and hug him for comfort. But would also mean they’ll have a grouchy ball of fur. Can’t ask Hooty since Amity would try and tear him apart just like when she helps Luz to face her fears against Gromethous.
“I guess we won’t be going back to sleep anytime soon.” Said Luz.
“Yeah, I guess so.” Amity responded.
“Amity… was that person your…?”
“Luz… please. I-I don’t want to talk about it.”
“I just want to see if you’re okay.”
“I know… but I don’t think I want to talk about it.”
“You want to talk to Lilith about it?”
Amity went silent. She hasn’t talked to her former mentor since the Witches Dual with Luz. She’s not sure if she’s ready to talk to her. Something Luz can already tell, without asking her.
“Okay, want to go to Eda? Ask her if its okay to sleep there just for tonight?” Luz insists.
Amity let out a sigh “If that’s what you want, sure.” Amity agrees.
Standing up, they quickly change their clothes and put on Luz pajamas which a grey tank top, purple shorts with stars, and socks. Quickly opening the door, they exited the room. They quietly crept across the hall toward Eda’s room.
They creaked opened the door slowly. When they peak their head through the gap, they find Eda’s nest surprisingly empty. Doesn’t look like Eda is in her room. As soon, they entered they heard something beside them.
“Having trouble sleeping kids?”
Amity/Luz jumped as they let out a yelp. Startled that Eda was standing by her door. Seeing Eda still wide awake. They didn’t see her since it’s so dark in her room.
“Yeah, actually. How long you been standing there?” They asked.
“For awhile. I had a feeling you two might come here.” Eda told them as she looks at them with worried “You two, okay?”
“Well… um, is it… okay? If we-”
“Yeah, of course. If you want a to.” Eda replied wave her hand “Make sure you shut the door. Can’t have King wake up grumpy from his royal nap.”
Amity/Luz shut the door. They walked up to Eda as she invited them into her nest. Once they sat down, Eda notices the dried tears from their face. Eda gently places her on the dead girl’s shoulder. Making them flinch “It’s okay, it’s okay.” Eda smoothly calmed them “Looks like you two been crying.”
Amity/Luz flinch once more when Eda notices the dried tears “You two had a one hell of a nightmare, didn’t ya?” Eda asked, which they nodded “You want to talk about it? Get off your chest?”
Amity/Luz hugged themselves, shook their head. Eda sighs “Alright, it’s okay if you don’t. But I’ll always be here to-”
Eda was cut off as the girl’s tightly hugged Eda. Sobbing with Eda tries to calm them down “Hey, it’s okay. Let it out, kiddos.” Eda spoke softly in a motherly tone “I know this isn’t want you both really wanted.”
“We know, it’s just…” Amity/Luz sniffed as they look Eda with puffy eyes “We’re scared, Eda. We don’t know what to do.”
Eda warmly smiled at them before hugging them “I know you both are scared. Just remember you two aren’t alone. We’ll be here for you. Both of you.”
The undead teen letting out the tears. Streaming non-stop with the Owl Lady holding them in her arms.
Eda walked into the kitchen after Luz and Amity cried themselves to sleep in her nest. She doesn’t know what to do. She knows she’ll do everything in her power to make sure they both get the help they need. But at the same time, unsure what their future would be.
Sighing, Eda took a drink of Apple Blood since there’s no point getting any sleep. She then sees glowing light coming from the living room. Curious she walked into the room. Eda then sees Lilith awake with a bunch of books, with several Light Glyphs orbs floating above her. Eda lends against the doorframe.
“You having trouble sleeping too, Lily?” Ask Eda startling her sister.
“Edalyn? Why are you still up?” Lilith questions.
“I was going ask you the same thing.” Eda took a sip of Apple Blood “Why are you still up in the middle of the night?”
“Looking.” Lilith replied looking back at the books.
“Looking for what?”
“To find a way to turn the girl’s back to their old selves.”
This got Eda attention, when she heard Lilith response “How the hell would you know if there’s a spell to turn them back?” Ask Eda.
“Because…” Lilith sighed when she turned to her sister with tired eyes “Because it’s a least I could do to make things right.”
“What you mean?” Eda walked up to her sitting down on the couch.
“I destroy the trust and bond between with me and Amity. I’m her teacher, yet I cheated just because knowing you’ll cheat the dual too.”
“Eh, can’t denied that logic.”
“Also, to try and atone for what I did to your pupil.”
Eda can see the guilt in her eyes. Even though it’s been a few weeks since the whole ‘Belos’ thing. Lilith still having trouble to move on from it. Placing her mug down she places her hand on Lilith shoulder.
“Hey, I know you’re still adjusting with this whole guilt thing. But imagine if our roles are reverse? I would’ve been the Head Coven Leader of the entire Emperor Coven. You might be an outlaw.” Lilith staring at Eda as she went on “And imagine if you were the one who Luz met instead of me. I would’ve done the same thing. So, stop blaming yourself. If you want to make things up with the Blight kid. Why not talk to her?”
“I don’t know if she wants to talk to me.” Lilith looking away “We haven’t talk since the Covention.”
“At least give it a try. I’m sure the Blight girl will surely forgive you, in due time.”
Lilith smiled then nodded, but had another question in mind “How are they anyway?” Lilith asked.
Eda sighs “They both had a bad dream. They’re sleeping in my nest.” Eda told her as she looks at Lilith in the eyes “Are you sure we’ll turn them back the way they are?”
“If there’s a spell that could reverse the effect and turned them back to the living. I believe it’s highly possible. But that kind of magic would be hidden away by Emperor Belos.” Lilith told her with concerned.
“I don’t care if I have to make the deal with the Devil himself.” Eda expression becomes serious “If a spell like that does exist, I won’t rest until those two get their old lives back. That bastard Julius took their lives away from them. And I’ll be the one who will give it back to them.”
“You mean ‘we’ll’ give their old lives back.” Lilith correct her “I want Amity and Luz have a happy life together.”
“You damn right, they will.” Eda took one of the books, giving Lilith a snarky smile “Were should we start first?”
