There’s a kid you somehow didn’t see parked out on the grass a little ways away. He’s sitting cross-legged on a blanket, his back to you, and your eyes flick down to the basket at his side. It’s a picnic. The stereotype pains you. You think he’s reading a book.
You reach, slowly, to where the basket sits half-open. If you can just reach inside you can take something and leave before you get caught--
“It’s rude to take stuff without asking, you know,” he says, and you jerk your hand back so fast you fall on your ass and almost hit yourself in the process.

She adds another rule soon after. It’s simple, but firm.
Rule 3: Cool it, Romeo.
Their debut comes and goes, and somehow it’s everything and nothing like what Zoey thought it would be. It’s intoxicating and electric and she can’t believe they’re doing it, but it pales in comparison to the way her heart clenches when Mira and Rumi are close enough to touch.
Zoey lit the match. It’s her fault, really. Fires grow fast if you feed them enough, and this one’s no exception. It’s too late now. It’s too damn big for her to do a thing about it, even if she wanted to.
Which, incidentally, is the other problem: She really, really doesn’t want to.
Or: Zoey likes writing lists. They help her make sense of things in the world around her, which is precisely what she needs when this weird, mystical blue barrier starts showing up whenever she sings. It's called the Honmoon, and evidently, Zoey is one of its chosen protectors. On the plane to Seoul, she begins drafting a new list for Zoey 2: Electric Boogaloo. She's never had a fresh start before, and she's determined to make the most of it.

“Oh, hello Zoey.” She bowed slightly. “Did you need something?”
Zoey stiffened, straightening her back. “Well, I didn’t need… I was just wondering… and you can totally say no, I get it…” She rubbed the back of her neck. Mikey squished flat against her. “Would you wanna… maybe…” She looked up at Rumi hopefully.
“Have a sleepover?”
