When she looked up, she saw Rumi and Zoey standing at another car, doors open. They both got in without any lingering gazes and Mira started to breathe again, though her eyes could see Rumi's tense face in the side mirror.
"I saw them talking to you. Who were they?" Her partner's voice was warm, curious, inviting Mira to share.
Her wrist throbbed like an alarm, and Mira replied, "Don't know. Helped me fill out the paperwork. Didn't get their names."
"How kind of them." Honey in her voice. It made the scrap of paper hidden in Mira's sleeve itch her skin.
Or, Mira meets two women in the emergency room and tries to pass her injuries off as an accident. They see right through her. They become a life line.

Mira kept her soulmarks hidden, always. As a child, she liked to look at them, tracing the abstract lines with her eyes and finding new shapes and patterns. Every soulmark was unique, a code that could only truly be read by a soulmate. To other eyes, it shifted and swayed into a mass of outlines and colors, beautiful but undefined. To a soulmate, it was like a night sky; different constellations hidden within it, revealing themselves before your eyes.

A chill ran through Zoey's spine, her nerves on end as the blood pooled at her feet. Her vision blurred, her limbs heavy as screaming came. Loud, wretched screams. More blood, cold and wet against the cliffs of her pants. It was hers. Her mouth opened for a scream to escape, but utter silence remained as more blood leaked onto her skin. It was so chilling. Cold. Heart-shattering.
It was for love, though. She asked carefully to herself, was this what she wanted? Would they love her more? Would they hold her hands even if they were the same ones she used to snuff the life out of humans. Humans, people family they loved.
No. They didn't care. They were reckless, they cast Rumi and Mira aside, so Zoey was determined to return their place.
No matter what it took, even with blood spilled, she would do anything to make Rumi and Mira happy, even when ethics were at line.
___Essentially, Zoey goes a crazy, insane, and takes risky actions to avenge the people she cares most for. But when she returns, she hopes they accept what she had to do for them.
