Character Thoughts
A beaten old van lumbered down an empty side street before stopping, the entirety of the vehicle groaning as it came to a stop.
Two figures desperately scrambled out of the stopped vehicle, falling to the ground in a tangle of limbs and hair.
"Spinner, you are never …. driving …. again." Dabi wheezed, his breath having been knocked out of him during the last turn that slammed him into the window hard enough to crack it and send a bout of pain through his broken ribs.
Spinner didn't even look at him as he turned off the car and returned the keys to his pocket.
"I am a great driver, I'll have you know." Spinner finally replied, taking his time to exit the vehicle.
"It, it wasn't so bad." Toga stated, completely at odds with how she was kissing the ground earlier.
Dabi would have tried to glare at her if he wasn't stuck to the ground in agony.
Toga tried to get up only to fall against the van while the world spun around her, "Spiny, mind getting Izu, ground won't stop wobbling."
Spinner just looked at the pathetic state of his comrades in mild amusement, dialing Kurogiri first before acknowledging Toga's request.
He moved to the back of the van and popped the doors. He stepped back in mild shock before letting out a growl of annoyance.
Toga forgot to strap Izuku down in any way and he now looked like he'd been through a storm made of razors and I-beams.
Spinner pulled Izuku's crumpled form carefully forward before stopping, internally debating how to carry him without getting blood all over him.
He eventually picked him up bridal style while trying his darndest to keep the disgusting bloody kid away from his outfit.
"Please, please don't get blood on me. I just cleaned this outfit yesterday." he quickly made his way back to his comrades where Kurogiri had finally decided to show up.
"Good Morning, I hope that the job went well." Kurogiri said, eyes wandering over the state of his fellow league members. "Do you require assistance?"
Toga finally got her motion sickness under control as she made the way over to Dabi.
."Just make the gate so we can go home," Spinner pleaded as his arms shook with the effort of keeping Izuku as far away from him without dropping him.
"Very well." The portal appeared with Spinner running through it.
Dabi felt hands close around his collar as he was lifted up from the ground.
"Don't worry Dabi, you'll be right back home in no time," Toga said as she started dragging him towards the portal. "On three, two, …:"
"Toga wait," Dabi pleaded as he felt her rocking his form back and forth, building momentum.
"One!" she cried, throwing him through the portal. "What? He's heavy."
Kurogiri didn't give a response to that, simply teleporting back after Toga skipped through the portal.
On the other side, Spinner had thrown Izuku on the first couch he could find while desperately looking over every part of his outfit for signs of contamination.
Meanwhile Dabi was curled in a little, well not so little, ball of misery and suffering on the floor.
"Toga. Never. Do. That. Again." Dabi said through gritted teeth.
Kurogiri quickly came to his aid, moving him to one of the couches before sending a call to the appropriate people to come in to patch him up and sending a message to the doctor to come collect his subject.
"Okay. No more Dabi throwing." Toga sang walking away from Dabi and up to the counter where Spinner had almost finished his inspection.
"I think it's okay. Not even a spec on it." Spinner muttered under his breath while putting back the various pieces of gear he had taken off.
"Hey Spinner, can I ask you a question?" Toga asked while hopping up on one of the bar stools.
"I'm a little busy at the moment. Can't have anything out of place or defiled by that filth." Spinner retorted.
"Hhhhmmm, I forgive your little outburst against something so yummy. This time." She mused, meeting his annoyed expression with a smirk. "But, what is that on your pants?"
"I don't see … NO!"
She giggled as she watched him freak out over the massive blood stain that covered his left pant leg.
Leaving him to his misery, She skipped over to Izuku's still form.
"Oh, you just look so lovely, Izu. And smell amazing" She exclaimed, standing over his beaten form. "I guess nobody will care if I add a little bit more."
Her knife in had, she stabbed down at his leg, aiming for the major artery.
Only for the knife to disappear into a cloud of dark mist and be forcefully taken from her grip.
"Now, now, Miss Toga, the boy already has enough injuries without you adding to them. So, I would much appreciate it if you left him alone for now." Kurogiri's voice rang out from across the room where he was twirling her favorite knife.
Toga just pouted at the display before another portal dumped her in the seat across from Dabi.
"Meany."
"And to ensure you don't try again, here is a fresh batch of the fineness blood I could find." Kurogiri continued as glass of the liquid appeared in front of her.
She grabbed it and drank deeply, a small smile returning to her face as she finished. Letting out a satisfied sigh, she let her head fall to the table following the example of the table's other occupant.
"Hey, Dabi, think I'll take a little nap. Wake me …" She trailed off as the blood made her drowsiness increase and she fell asleep.
She only received a pained grunt in answer.
It felt like he was floating on a sea with only the slight pinpricks of electricity running up his body grabbing his attention. It felt nice and calming.
Then pressure started to build on his chest, plunging him into the depths. In an instant, panic replaced calm as he grasped and clawed at the thing that had plunged him under. Only for his hands to pass through nothing, He struggled until his energy seemed to completely drain from him. It was only then that he realized that he wasn't drowning.
His breathing was completely unhindered by the water. As his eyes opened, he noticed that he wasn't alone down here.
Something was reaching for him. He felt it slithering around at the edge of his mind, constantly moving looking for something he couldn't fathom.
Then another joined and then another.
They grouped together forming a pack around him hesitant, no, unable to get closer. Even as their movements grew more desperate.
What? Where am I? I must be so lost.
The beings stilled for a second before redoubling their efforts.
Perhaps you know the way back?
The largest one met his eyes as the others continued their motion. He felt an unmistakable sense of familiarity in those deep eyes but his mind couldn't place them.
Can you speak?
The being stayed still for a moment before giving a simple firm nod before its lips started moving. Only no sound came from its mouth.
I, I can't hear you.
It didn't react this time before seeming to go back to supervising the other ones.
They were getting closer now and their outlines materialized, showing the different shadowed silhouettes against the dark water.
He tried to get them to respond to his prompts, but they were no longer listening.
He didn't know how long they were down here but something definitely felt off.
It almost felt like he was being dragged deeper but the light from above never lessened.
He was broken out of those thoughts by the flurry of motion around him. The creatures had noticed as well and it sent them into a panic.
Hey, what's wrong? What's going on?
He again received no answer, just more frenzied motion.
Then one of the figures flickered before an unknown force dragged it back into the depths. The other's barely paid any mind to this continuing their prior actions.
Then another, then a third disappeared back into the depths.
They continued to fall until only two remained.
It was then that Izuku noticed that he could see the sea floor below slowly moving up towards him.
Another was taken, this time giving much more of a struggle than the others before succumbing and being dragged out of sight.
The final figure reached him just as his feet hit the bottom. His shaggy white hair covered part of his face as his expression twisted in pain.
"I don't have much time so listen to me very carefully. This is the end for us but we made something for you, something that they cannot take. When your need is most dire and you are at your lowest, think of why you accepted One for All, think of why you are here. May it help you in the future my …," the man was cut off as he was ripped away as the last of the water drained away.
Izuku was left standing alone in what appeared to be an endless desert. His mind was still feeling dull and sluggish as the heat started to rise.
It is so hot. Need to find some sort of shelter.
With no features around him and the sun right overhead, he decided to pick a random direction and start walking. He continued walking for what felt like hours yet the sun stayed in the same place. The heat was becoming almost unbearable up until the point where he felt a lance of heat shoot through his arm.
Unbearable pain quickly followed as he cried out at the unexpected sensation. He collapsed to the ground, mind going blank as he felt his surrounding shift and warp around him.
Eyes slowly opened to reveal little more than bright shafts of light stabbing into his vision and rendering him once more blind.
Ooowww. Okay breath, just breath. Access then act.
His mind was still sluggish and most of his body felt like lead, barely responding to his commands.
Whichever drugs they used still have me in a bad state. I can't fight like this. Need to wait and hopefully recover.
His mind was drawn back to the feeling of stabbing pain pulsing up his arm. He tried to move the limb carefully only to feel pressure on several points on his arm preventing the motion.
So I'm strapped down. All my limbs are bound. Even my mouth's been gagged. This is not good. Not good.
Focusing on his other senses, his hearing picked up the sounds of shouting in the background, though it was muffled and barely discernible for him.
"Toga. He needs to rest. Which doesn't include stabbing him again and again for your own amusement." A stern and exacerbated voice rang out throughout the room. "We need this one alive in order to complete the operation. How the hell did you even get in here anyway?!"
"Oh, relax doc-doc, Izu can take it. He'll jump right back." Toga countered, "Stop worrying. One little cut won't even phase Izu."
"I am not taking advice from a teenager whose favorite pastime is stabbing people," the man lectured, tone growing more and more annoyed, "And that still doesn't answer the damn question. How did you get in here?!"
Toga rocked back and forth, while giving the annoyed doctor a look of contemplation.
"Oh, Dabi let me right in. Even he sees that I shouldn't be away from my Izu for long," Toga finally answered, "He's just so great and understanding like that."
"Well tell Dabi that this little stunt will get his ass restricted from even entering my lab again." The doctor smirked at Toga's look of indignation.
Toga stopped moving entirely as she glared up at the doctor. Once more she brought her knife up while the doctor seemed entirely unaffected by the unsaid threat.
"I don't like people that threaten what is mine doc-doc." her voice, lacking any of her usual playfulness, "I wonder how your blood would taste. Your entire lab beautifully splattered in your own blood."
"You won't ever do it if you know what's good for you brat." He responded with the smirk still on his face.
He barely dodged the swipe, knife almost kissing his neck as he clumsily got out of the way, dropping to one knee.
"What the hell are …" he shouted before being cut off.
"That's your only warning doc-doc. Shiggy would punish me if I do more but I don't care." She whispered into his ear, "But I'll be more than happy if you would stop saying such nonsense. Dabi needs this room. And I won't be the source of him losing access to it.
The two glared at each other before the doctor relented, breaking his gaze away.
"Whatever, you crazy bitch." He huffed, getting back to his feet, "Now get the hell out of my lab."
"Okey dokey, doc-doc," she sang back, once more shifting around due to excess energy. "I'll be back tomorrow to see Izu. See ya."
"No you won't, … and she's already gone." The Doctor turned hands to rub his tired eyes.
"Well, at least I still have this to look into even if it is not behaving how I expected," He whispered while picking up a large tube containing an unknown biological substance. "Let's see what I can do with this."
His footsteps quickly faded away as he walked with some degree of haste further into another portion of the lab.
Izuku meanwhile was processing everything he had heard.
Still captured and not rescued. Toga's here which means the league.
Once he was sure that no one was around to watch he pulled as hard as his strained muscles would allow expecting to be able to easily tear the bonds apart.
Only they didn't budge at all, keeping him firmly locked in place. His head wasn't able to turn enough to see what was the problem as his panic once more rose.
NO! No. Wait. Calm down. I'm drugged. I'm still drugged. Yeah. I can't do anything right now. I'll have to wait, wait for the right opportunity. They said they needed me alive. Which means I'll get more opportunities to escape. Just have to wait.
His momentary struggles abated as he did a more thorough catalogue of his body.
Not good. I don't think I could even escape even if I broke through the bonds. Need more rest to recuperate.
Mind made up, he tried to fully relax, letting the lingering tiredness take hold of him. It didn't take him long to fail back into an uneasy sleep.
"Well kid, you really are something. And to give me such a wonderful gift on top of just being here," the doctor muttered, looking over the results of Izuku's tests while watching a feed of Izuku's bed, "Don't worry, I take extra care with you. Shigaraki always wanted something special and you're just the right person for the job."
He smiled down at Izuku's still form, eyes alight while so many plans and options flowing through his mind.
"Yes, you'll do nicely."
This might have a few more mistakes because I couldn't find a beta reader this time. Hope you enjoyed.
