Chapter Text

Satan sighed, finally feeling relief wash over himself. He's been in contact with one of the higher noblemen he's acquaintances with who's also a huge booknerd, just so he would be able to get his hands on two copies of the new human world exclusive book that both he and you have been waiting on for ages. He wasn't sure if his acquaintance would be able to pull through, but he was successful in garnering two signed copies. He felt giddy as he strode home to the HOL, excited to see your reaction. He and you had bonded quite a lot during your stay, as much as he would hate to admit it. He found you annoying at first, thinking that you were a stupid, simple minded human that would do nothing but cause chaos and trouble during your first year here. Both parts of those were correct, of course, but you also made Satan think about who he truly was and made him realize that his origin does not define who he is. That, he will be forever grateful to you for. (And you caused Lucifer the occasional headache still, much to Satan's amusement and to Lucifer's constant, ever growing migraine.)

Upon reaching the front door, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and shot you a quick text telling you to meet him up in his room in twenty minutes. You quickly sent him the OK sticker, so he pocketed his phone once more and made his way up to his room. You've taken it upon yourself, in your free time and while supervised, to tidy up his room. He won't let you touch the more dangerous books, of course, but he found it amusing that his stacks and stacks of books bothered you that much that you'd barge into his room, point a finger at him and demand that he helps you straighten up. (He'll also never admit that he finds you telling him what to do hilarious, you remind him of Luke during those times, like a tiny dog trying to command a guard dog.)

He always entertains you, though. He loves to see you smile brightly when he agrees to help you out, even if it's not in the confines of his room. He shook his head, shaking away his current thoughts as he walked into his room and shut the door behind him, setting one copy of the book on top of the stack closest to his door. He didn't want to come outright and say he got you a super exclusive signed copy of one of your favorite books, he wanted to make you work for it a little bit at least. At least then he'd feel justified going through all of the work and effort to obtain it. He set his copy of the book on his bed, and hid it under his pillow for good measure. The twenty minutes that he'd took you was quickly approaching its end and he was starting to anticipate your arrival any minute now.

It happened so quickly, once you arrived. You had politely knocked on his door, waiting for him to open it up and invite you inside. He gave you a small smirk and told you that he'd like you to help him rearrange the stacks of books closest to his door, as they're becoming more and more of a hassle to step around and you just seem to have the best way to arrange them. A bit over the top flattery, you had to admit, but you obliged him. You'd never turn down an opportunity to straighten up this damn room, it seemed like that was the only thing driving you some days.

You were a bit confused when you went to reach for the first stack, he stopped you immediately and told you he wanted to go through another stack first. Weird, but okay, you guess. You weren't stranger to Satan's weird ways of doing things at times. A bit annoyed that you couldn't sate your curiosity yet, you huffed at him, crossing your arms. This only seemed to fuel his shit eating smirk he wore on his face. This continued on for a while, each time you reached for the original stack he'd stop you and have you start on another stack until that was the only one remaining. Finally, it was time! You excitedly reached for the book on top, stopping in your tracks as your brain processed what the hell you were holding in your hands at this moment. You stared at the book, stared at Satan, back to the book, and finally back to Satan. The silent question of how the fuck--

He had a small smile on his face, blush coating his cheeks.

"I may have some connections that were able to obtain you a copy. I truly hope you enjoy it, [name]."
