Levi sighed, digging his palms into his hands as he tried and yet again, failed, to focus on the newest game he impulse bought. Ever since you passed away, him and the rest of his brothers have been trying to fill the void in their heart. It's been a year already, and to them if feels like it was yesterday. You stayed with them all to the very end, passing away peacefully in your room surrounded by the brothers, Barbatos, and Diavolo. No one would say it outloud, but Lord Diavolo and Barbatos didn't seem to be quite as upset as the rest of them whenever you finally took your last breath. Of course, tears were shed by all in presence, but something just seemed off. Levi can't remember the last time he's seen all of his brothers at once besides at dinner, not even at breakfast did everyone gather around. Diavolo had given the brothers the year off from any student council duties so they had time to grieve, which they all happily took. But, that left them with more time to let their thoughts fester and grow. Resentment, anger, and depression ran rampant throughout the House of Lamentations. The brothers were more snappy, on edge, and just more aggressive towards each other whenever they did meet.
Levi decided that tonight wasn't going to be any different as he shut his console off and sank down into his bathtub bed. He stared up at the ceiling blankly, letting past memories of your shared time flood over him. Much to his brothers annoyance, you and him shared a special bond that you didn't have with the others. You spent a lot of time with him, spent the night in his room almost nightly until your body wasn't able to get up from his bathtub very easily. You two weren't explicitly together, but there was definitely something going on. More than best friends, but you two were just happy to bask in the comfort and safety being around each other brought on. Even as you aged, Levi and the others thought you were still as beautiful as you were in your youth. Asmo was always giving you new clothing, doing your makeup, and making sure that even if you were physically aging, you still felt beautiful. Mammon made sure to get you jewelry that suited you. You never took it off, even as time took its time on the items, made them rust or stained your skin. Satan made sure to read up on your needs as you aged, more and more willing to sit in front of the fireplace and read to you as you warmed your old, tired bones. Let you rest your frail form against him. Beel made sure that you were getting all of the nutrition you needed, and he helped you with your medication. He was always willing to carry you gently if your body just couldn't do what you wanted it to do, and he helped you bathe. Belphie made sure you were sleeping comfortably at night, even when your body was protesting, joints aching and burning. He always made it okay in the end. Lucifer, bless him, always made sure that you had all of the correct human medication, took you up to the human realm for all of your doctor appointments, and just took general care of you, making sure his brothers were never too rough with you. He never once complained, none of them did. Levi, well, he wasn't sure what he needed to do for you. He let you swim in Henry's tank whenever your joints got too much, finding that floating in the water relieved so much pressure. You cried the first time you slid into the water, feeling so much weight lift off of you. Levi had to hold back tears as he held you close to him, making sure that you never sank or drowned. It became a nightly routine, and the little fish named Henry would always swim up and greet you, swimming against your side and against your hand gently.
Levi didn't realize that he was crying until he felt the soft drop of tears hit his neck. He couldn't believe you were actually gone, his Henry, his best friend, and the only person in existence that really got to know him, didn't judge him. Just loved him fully for who he was. He rolled over in his bathtub, fully accepting that tonight was going to be a really bad night and he probably wouldn't be getting much sleep. He just decided to let his sorrow out and sob.
He must've dozed off, because he awoke with a start. He felt like he was being watched, it made the hair on the back of his neck raise in caution. Something felt off in his room, but he couldn't quite place what it was. Most creatures in the Devildom knew better than to even think about breaking into the student council house, but, there were attempts made on multiple occasions. No one has actually ever gotten into their private rooms, however.
Peeking his head over the tub, he scanned his room. Demons are able to see in the dark, so he was able to tell that nothing was out of the ordinary. That didn't seem to ease him though, it just made him more cautious. There weren't many creatures that could harm him though, being as high rank as he is, but he still didn't want someone to get the jump on him if he could help it.
Suddenly, a pair of small, soft arms wrapped around his waist. He lurched forward, spinning around quickly and releasing his human form glamour. His tail viciously smashed against the ground, anger enveloping him for a moment, until he realized who was in front of him. His bravado failed instantly, and he was frozen in place.
It was you.
It was really you. How, why-
fuck.
He lurched forward again, this time however, he wrapped you in a tight hug, burying his face in the crook of your neck. He started to sob again, refusing to let you go. He was so scared that if he did, he'd look at you again and realize that you really weren't here and that it was all his stupid imagination playing tricks on him. He couldn't handle that if that's what was happening. However, as if reading his mind, you wrap your arms around him again, gently cooing at him and whispering that you're really there with him and that everything's going to be okay. You held him for what felt like hours, but you were happy to do so. You knew how hard this must've been for them. It was so hard for you, too. You couldn't imagine how they all felt, but right now, Levi needed you.
Finally, he let you go and held you at arms length. Something was up with you, however. He couldn't quite put his finger on it but-
"Levi, I'm here. I'm finally here, I'm so sorry it took me so long but I had to jump through so many hoops to get this done and I-" this time it was your turn to start sobbing, and then everything clicked in Levi's brain. You were a demon. You had horns and a tail. And they were out. Levi started to pull you closer and accidentally knocked his face against your horns - and ow that hurt but it got you to laugh a little bit so he took it as a small win.
You pulled back, giving him a soft smile.
The two of you hobbled over to his bathtub, laying down inside of it together and just laying against each of other. Levi's tail gently wrapped around your own and you giggled at him, happily returning the motion. You explained how, after you passed away, Diavolo had instructed Simone and Luke to keep you company in the Celestial Realm until he had all of the paperwork completed for you to return to them in the Devildom. That's why him and Barbatos weren't as affected by your passing, they already knew what was going to happen. You sighed, deciding to tell Levi just how hard it was to convince Diavolo that you really indeed want this, and that you didn't want to live up in the Celestial realm instead.
"I couldn't bare seeing you all revert back to how you were before I arrived. You all made so much progress, and I saw how much I mean to you all, and I love all of you dearly as well. I can never repay you all for what you did for me during my final years as a human," you smiled as a small tear slid down your face. "I can't truly tell you all how much that meant to me, I never thought that I'd pass away with ten grieving demons around me, and then come back to them for my afterlife. But, I wouldn't change a damn thing, Levi. I'm finally at peace, I know I made the right choice. I know tomorrow is gonna be a mess, but for right now, I want nothing more than to lay here with you for tonight. You make everything okay, Levi."
Levi was silent as you retold your plans to return to them. He was in awe and utter disbelief. You did that all for them? He felt so much love in this moment, he couldn't help but shed more tears. How in the hell did he get so lucky? He had his Henry back, his best friend. Forever. You wouldn't be leaving him anymore, not anymore. He pulled you close to him, shoving his face in your hair and just enjoying your company.
"I'm..I'm so happy you're here, MC. I can't believe it. You're really here."
"I'm really here, and I never stopped loving you, Levi."
Nothing else mattered to you both, snuggled under the blankets while Henry watches you both happily from the tank.
