Chapter Text
Person B buying Person A something unrequested because it made Person B think of them.
LUCIFER
Lucifer was on his way home from a student council meeting with Diavlo, running his hands over his face and up through his hair to gently muse it, he took in a deep breath and sighed slowly. He wasn't ready to go home to the chaotic scene his brothers were certainly causing right now, so he decided to go intown and browse around some of the shops. He wasn't looking for anything in particular, but he was aware of the fact that your time with them was coming to an end. He wasn't sure if he wanted to gift you anything whenever that time came, however. He stopped in front of a small little shop, it sold a bunch of random things, from human world knick knacks to higher end accessories. He mused, accepting that the store had caught his attention enough that he wanted to go inside and browse their items. Walking inside, his eyes immediately landed on an object. It was a necklace, the gem in the middle shown a deep red, almost black in the middle. He immediately thought of gifting it to you, remembering how you always said you got lost in his eyes when you spent time together in his study, just the two of you. Gently picking it up, he noticed it had a nice weight to it, and thought of how nicely it would look hanging around your neck. Cursing himself for being as soft as he was for you, he purchased the necklace.
When he brought it up to Diavlo to boast about his purchase, (because why wouldn't he? he found a really nice gift to give you as a small thank you for your time here in the Devildom), Diavlo brought it to his attention that the gem inside of the necklace was a very rare and expensive ruby found only in the Devildom. Smiling, Diavlo congratulated Lucifer on his find. Lucifer felt both happy and slightly unnerved at the thought, not because he paid a hefty amount for the gem, but for the thought that he really did find something to show you how special you really were to him. And he didn't even plan on getting you anything, at least not at this moment. He shook his head gently, clearing out his thoughts. He would simply just hide the gift until the night before you left the Devildom, him, and his brothers. He didn't want his brothers to see his gift. He didn't know if his pride would allow him to.
____________
The day was finally here, the night before your departure. You face was tear streaked, all of his brothers had already said their goodbyes for the night. He was sure there would be more goodbyes and tears tomorrow. He held you tightly against his chest, the pact between you made. He felt scared, if he was honest. He'd never made a pact with a human before, and yet, here he was, holding you close as you sobbed and whimpered that you didn't want to leave. He could feel your sorrow through the pact now, feel all of the love for him and his brothers. Fuck, if that didn't break his heart. He couldn't let it show, though, his pride wouldn't let him. However, he slipped the necklace out from his pocket carefully. He gently pushed you away from him, gently enough that you knew he wanted to show you something and that you weren't getting rejected.
He knelt down in front of you, grabbing your hand gently and pressing his lips to your wrist.
"My love, never before have I knelt before a human, let alone made a pact with one. You've changed all of us for the better. Believe me, this is not our final goodbye. I will move realms for you if you desire it," he breathed, he'd practiced this speech in his head a thousand times before, but now when it was time for it to actually matter, he was lost.
"Please, take this small token of my appreciation for you, your stubbornness and chaos has brought our family together closer than we ever have been before. You've bonded a family of demons together and slid your way into all of our hearts, mind included. I can confidently say, you are a part of this family, [name]. You will never have to worry about being alone, as you have all of us watching over you."
He gently rubbed the tears away, kissing your cheek gently. He pressed the wrapped necklace into your hands, prompting you to stare at him confused.
"It's not much, but I saw this and immediately knew it had to be yours. I hope it reminds you of your family down here, when things get too much, touch the gem and you'll know we're here. I've enchanted it, so whenever you touch it, I'll feel it."
He smiled gently at you as you stared at the gem in awe, rubbing your thumb over the smooth surface as if you're terrified you'd break it. You suddenly lurched forward and wrapped your hands around his neck, sobbing into him as if you're terrified he's going to puff up in smoke if you let go.
You both stayed like that for while, eventually he took the necklace and clipped it around your neck. You kept holding it in your hand, refusing to let it go. You felt so loved right now, and you kept sobbing whenever you remembered what was happening tomorrow.
"Don't worry, my love. As I told you earlier, this is not our final goodbye. You wormed your way into our life, you can't escape us that easily now," he smiled down at you softly, holding you close as you grabbed onto him for dear life.
You two slept in his room, wrapped in each others arms, the world around you didn't seem to matter anymore.
All of you couldn't wait for your return.
