Chapter Text
After the bank incident Katsuki ignored his mother for an entire week. He may have been glad she had called him but it didn’t take away the fact that he had caused him so much trouble in the first place. Eventually Izuku brought up the topic after Katsuya was in bed one night. “We should really talk about your mother.”
“Ugh, do we have to? I was getting pretty good at pretending she didn’t exist,” Katsuki groaned.
“Kacchan,” Izuku warned, “she isn’t all bad, she did what I asked her to do even though she was angry with me. Who knows how long it would have been before someone told you otherwise.”
“I hate that you’re this nice, she set out to destroy us and you’re making it seem like you had a minor altercation.” Katsuki ran his fingers through emerald curls softly. “what do you propose we do about my mother?”
“Hmm,” Izuku hummed softly, “How about this weekend we take Katsuya to my mother’s house and we meet up with your parents, is your dad back home now?”
“He is. He loves the old hag, I knew he wouldn’t be gone long,” he admitted.
“Great, so we can offer to meet up with them for lunch and I will talk with her myself. I can be the judge of whether or not we should allow her back into the picture. I need her to acknowledge Katsuya as your child and apologize for everything she has done to tarnish your image, maybe even make her do a public apology.”
“That’s a great plan and all, but what about all of the things she did to you? You’re so worried about us that you haven’t said a single thing about how she can right the wrongs for you.”
Izuku sighed, “It’s true, I am more concerned about you and Katsuya, but can you blame me? You are my entire world. If it makes you happy I will also ask that she apologize for what she said to me, but we can’t pretend that it isn’t partially my fault for keeping things a secret in the first place. The responsibility to make things right doesn’t fall on her alone.”
Katsuki pulled Izuku into his arms and grumbled, “but I have already forgiven you so they can just fucking deal with it.”
“Kacchan,” he scolded, sinking into the hug.
“I get where you are coming from, but I think we have moved past your fault in any of this. Katsuya was raised well, and now he has all of us to see him grow up, other than some missed milestones there wasn’t really any harm done.”
“Kacchan, are you listening to yourself?” Izuku asked, very amused at his words, “seriously, you talk about me being too nice to people and you’re so quick to look the other way at the things I have done.”
“Shut up and go with it, you know I am right,” Katsuki grumbled into the soft green curls.
Talking about meeting up with his parents was one thing, standing on their porch preparing to knock was a whole different kind of nerve wracking. Katsuki’s grip tightened on Izuku’s hand as he knocked, if the greenette noticed how much he was sweating he was kind enough to not mention it. It only took a moment before his father opened the door with a kind smile, “It’s nice to see you two,” he greeted them, “come in.”
He looked down at Izuku who nodded in assurance before stepping inside the Bakugou home, his mother stood in the middle of the living room wringing her hands together, “Thanks for coming, Katsuki.”
“Thank Izuku, he is the one who orchestrated this whole thing, I would have been fine letting you suffer a little longer.”
Mitsuki gasped softly before looking at Izuku, gone was the angry fierceness and in it’s place was something softer, kindness? Understanding? Regret? Whatever it was Izuku couldn’t quite put his finger on it. “Izuku, thank you. I don’t deserve the chance you are giving me-“
“Then earn it.” The words dropped from his lips and crashed into her like a bomb exploding. “If you feel like you haven’t done enough to earn our forgiveness then do more, do better, I know you can Auntie.”
“What can I do, Izuku,” she said, tears quietly streaming down her face, “Tell me what I can do to make this up to you.”
“Try. Honestly try with Katsuya, and that means admitting your wrongs to him. He needs to forgive you first and he may not be easy to convince since his only memories of you are you yelling and causing a scene,” Izuku explained calmly. “Do right by him, and of course Kacchan, and I will forgive you.”
“Deku,” Katsuki scolded, “She needs to apologize to you also, don’t forget what we talked about.”
“Of course,” Mitsuki hurried to bow before him, “I am sorry Izuku, I should never have attacked you, especially in front of your child. I was angry and handled thing completely the wrong way, I was wrong to do those things.”
“I want you to release a statement saying that,” Izuku said coldly, “I want you to publicly admit that the things you said about me and Kacchan were lies.”
Mitsuki stifled a sob, “of course, I will do that first thing tomorrow. I should never have attacked you two like that, I knew none of it was true, I was just trying to hurt you.”
“Well it worked, “Katsuki growled, “you hurt my image, my mate, and our child’s security.”
“I want to apologize for something too,” Izuku explained, “I should have told you about Katsuya back then, all of you, I was scared and decided to hide everything and that was wrong, so that is why this time you are the first to know.”
Katsuki’s hand flew to Izuku’s arm, tugging him to face him, “What do you mean this time?”
Izuku smiled nervously, “I’m pregnant.”
Katsuki pulled him into a firm hug and laughed, “You’re pregnant! I can’t fucking believe it!”
Mitsuki sobbed harder, “are you really?”
“Mmhmm,” Izuku nodded, “I found out two days ago, I see the doctor next week to confirm, but if the morning sickness is any indicator the test was correct.”
“God, I love you,” Katsuki kissed each of his freckled cheeks before capturing his lips. “I am going to be there the entire time, this time. There is no getting rid of me now.”
“Good,” Izuku laughed, “then you can tell my mother when we go pick Katsuya up, I am sure he will be happy to hear he will be a big brother soon.”
Mitsuki crossed the room to Izuku’s side and carefully opened her arms, “May- may I hug you?”
Izuku nodded and pulled Mitsuki into his hug with Kacchan, “We all have to do better this time around, show that we learned from our mistakes.”
“Agreed,” Katsuki said, “No excuses.”
“Thank you,” Mitsuki whispered, “thank you for another chance.”
“You better not mess this up, Ma,” Katsuki said firmly.
Masaru then cleared his throat and all eyes turned to him, “I think it’s time to have our meal, can we all move into the dining room?"
Izuku laughed and patted his belly, “I think that is a great idea, I am eating for two now after all.”
Things from that point weren’t easy, but they progressed slowly in the right direction, before long there were family meals with both sides of the family together. There may have been tension at first, but over time things mellowed and everyone found a comfortable level of peace.
One particular evening Masaru opened the door expecting Katsuki and Deku but instead found Inko and Katsuya. “Well, I don’t think we should expect the boys tonight,” she giggled.
“What’s going on?” Mitsuki asked as she approached the doorway.
Inko turned her phone screen to show Katsuki’s official Instagram account, which showed two hands laying across a tiny baby bump, both adorned with silver bands. The caption simply stated, “Eloped with the love of my life.”
