Chapter Text

The hardships of being a single father have shown no mercy to Sosuke Aizen. It's been eventful and it's no doubt the most difficult thing he has ever done, but he wouldn't trade her for anything. It’s been just him and her against the world, and Sosuke wouldn’t want it any other way.

Sosuke has gone through a lot to keep the two of you afloat. Multiple jobs, restless nights, and yet he still shows up to every school theatre performance she’s in. He may have dark circles under his eyes, but he doesn't care. He always makes time in his hectic schedule for her.

However, Sosuke has a few overprotective bones in his body. He doesn't have anyone else to help him raise his young daughter, so he’s used to doing everything by himself. He can’t imagine anyone ever coming in between them.

“When can I get married, daddy?” His daughter asks innocently. Sosuke’s eyes are wide and he almost chokes on the air around him.

“What?! I-I- Why would you-” The question has left Sosuke dumbfounded, a stuttering mess. His daughter simply giggles at how silly her father is acting. It takes a good few seconds for Sosuke to regain his composure before looking down at the small girl.

“You shouldn’t have to worry about that yet. You will get married when the time is right.” Sosuke smiles down, a bit of sadness builds up in his heart.

To say that Sosuke is exhausted would be a vast understatement. It's Saturday night, but the fatigue from Friday’s shift is still lingering. He was planning on napping for a large part of the day, but he promised his daughter that he would take her to the park. Sosuke never breaks promises, especially for her. Luckily for him, she takes his answer and doesn't question it anymore. Thank god. Instead, she leads him to the living room and forces poor Sosuke to watch hours of her favorite cartoons.

A tired sigh leaves Sosuke’s mouth. The funny little cartoon characters keep his daughter entertained and busy, while his mind dwells on the thoughts of her growing up. He’s so preoccupied with the idea, that he forgets that his daughter is right next to him until she falls asleep on his shoulder.

Sosuke forgets that the future is inevitable, and that he should start living in the present instead of letting his mind wonder. Right now, he has to go put his daughter to bed. He's gone through a lot to get here, but he won’t let something like an innocent question get the best of him. He never will.
