Chapter Text
I know the darkness pulls on you,
But it's just a point of view.
When you're outside looking in,
You belong to someone.
And when you feel like giving in
Or the coming of the end,
Like your heart could break in two,
Someone loves you.
Marcy had been with them the whole time.
When she had met Death, she chose to keep living, but that wasn’t a viable option so she chose to live through her friends. She was able to be with them whenever she wanted. She thought this would be something nice, something good for her to do now that she couldn’t do anything, but it didn’t feel good.
It wasn’t like she didn’t like she didn’t like what they did for her. Her headstone was perfect; nice designs on a simplistic headstone, not too tall, just enough that it wouldn’t stand out against the others. She loved Wartwood and its people.
However, after a few days, it was painful. Maybe even more than a flaming sword through the chest. It was painful, because she knew that even if she was with her friends like this, they would never know. She had watched her friends voice her exact thoughts about how she… ended.
She hadn’t done anything to deserve this. She had her whole life ahead of her, and now she didn’t. She wanted out. She wanted to be with them. She wanted to rip out her heart and tear it in two for her two friends. She wanted to tell them she was there and tell them she would always be there. She didn’t want to be a ghost anymore.
As soon as she had that thought, she found herself in a sort of afterlife gaming menu. Her perfect choices. After a couple options were selected, she smiled to herself as much as she could as a non-entity. She could go now, leaving reminders of herself in the lives of her loved ones. They would know she was there in some capacity, even though she wouldn’t be. That was good enough for her.
She selected the option that said “Leave,” and turned around to see a door. She opened it and stepped through without looking back.
