Chapter Text
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony.” The priest turned to address the audience with a clear, decisive voice before turning back to look at Adrien and Marinette.
As the priest spoke, Adrien could feel himself getting dizzy. He was staring down into Marinette’s brilliant, beautiful, sapphire eyes. She was grinning up at him in the most amazing handmade white gown that he had seen. When he had first seen her walking down the aisle in it, he had been truly stunned by just how gorgeous his bride-to-be really was. He could spend the rest of his life just staring down into her eyes and he knew he would have been at peace.
The background all seemed to fade away as he looked down at her in wonder. Adrien could scarcely believe how lucky he was. He was getting married. To the girl that he had been dreaming about for years. If he told his younger self that one day he was going to have this, he was pretty certain that Adrien would never believe him. He squeezed her hand watching as her grin widened as she giggled adorably.
“Adrien, do you take this woman to be your wife, to live together in matrimony, to love her, to honor her, to comfort her, and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?”
“I do,” Adrien whispered. How could he not? Marinette was the most incredible, wonderful woman he had ever met. He couldn’t even begin to imagine a world where he didn’t love her and wouldn’t want to be with her. Why she decided to choose him as her life partner was beyond him.
“Marinette, do you take this man to be your husband, to live together in matrimony, to love him, to honor him, to comfort him, and to keep him in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"
“I do.” Marinette nodded her head back at the priest, her bright, white smile beaming over at Adrien. He always loved it when her smiles were directed over at him. It always filled him with warmth to know that he had gotten Marinette to smile. It was why he was always making jokes. Her laughter and grins were the most adorable thing in the world.
“Now repeat after me.” The priest turned to look at Adrien. “I, Adrien, take you, Marinette, to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.”
He repeated the words, meaning every word of them. He would love and cherish her for as long as she would let him. There was no doubt in his mind that Marinette would be his first and only love.
The priest gave him a smile before turning to Marinette. “I, Marinette, take you, Adrien, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part."
She repeated the words and Adrien could feel the butterflies flutter to life in his stomach. As if in a haze, he reached down and carefully slid the diamond ring onto Marinette’s finger. It looked amazing on her. Softly, he murmured the words the priest said, “I give you this ring as a token and pledge of our constant faith and abiding love.”
He had to swallow the thick lump in his throat as Marinette did and said the same. Adrien was absolutely overjoyed. From now on, he got to address himself as Marinette’s husband. That was just the loveliest thing in the world.
“By virtue of the authority vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
With those last words, Adrien took a quick step forward and dipped Marinette. He enjoyed her joyful giggle before he captured her lips in his. One of her hands came up to caress his cheek and he practically shivered at her touch. They were now officially married. He had to forcefully pull himself away from her, content to remain in that wonderful moment for the rest of time. Her kisses were always lovely and he was now certain that Marinette would now be the first and last girl he had ever kissed.
After Adrien had finally taken that step away from her it was like the world phased back into existence. He could now hear the cheers and happy shouts from everyone as he felt a blush creep onto his cheeks. Both Alya and Nino were clapping over at them with the widest smiles on their faces. He waved back at them, grateful that their best friends were here to see them finally get married.
A soft hand brushed against his own and Adrien’s gaze quickly snapped over to the woman standing next to him. A goofy grin spread across his face as she took his hand in hers and squeezed it lightly. Warmth shot up his arm from the touch. This was his wife. And he was going to be her husband forever. Adrien didn’t think that he would ever get used to saying those words either out loud or in his thoughts. Marinette’s eyes sparkled at him in the light and it was suddenly difficult for him to not kiss her again.
Squeezing her hand back, Adrien smiled down at her. It was now time for them to begin the rest of their lives together. With a joyful laugh, he began to lead her down the aisle. It was time for them to take their wedding pictures before meeting up with their other guests at the reception. And, from now on, Adrien would be able to do absolutely everything by Marinette’s side. That was exactly where he was going to be from now until the end of his life.
