Summary
The blades are cool against the sensitive skin of his ears when Harry cuts the curls framing his face, leaving a handful coiling over his forehead.
"They make you look a bit younger," Harry explains, "softens your face."Tom arches a brow at that, lips downturned in an immediate scowl.
Harry sniggers, "Dumbledore will prefer it if you don't look too polished. Less Dark Lord-y."Harry's laugh is airy around him, wrapping Tom in familiar comfort and loosening the tightness in his expression. "Fine."

"Tom stares wordlessly. He itches.
He doesn't even know if Potter really is in there or what he will do if he is. Slowly, he opens the door, scanning the rows for a familiar head of disheveled black hair. Heart in his throat, he spots the new student at a faraway table, craned over messy pages, his brows furrowed in deep concentration and partly hidden by the shadows of tall bookshelves. As if on autopilot, Tom disillusions himself, casting notice-me-not and silencing charms on himself, feet once again shepherding him further away. Closer."

Tom took a step forward. "Harry, I am Head Boy. It is my duty to politely come to aid my fellow students." Tom leaned down until his mouth was inches from Harry's ear. "What would you have me do?"
A shiver ran through Harry. "Parseltongue is a low blow."
