The chatter of his fledglings filled the atmosphere as he stared out at the blur of the world passing by like the passage of time — and now he had two people to join him in his bubble outside of the confines of time, people to care for.
He let his eyes close, enveloping him in the sound of his fledglings and the hum of the moving train.

“Let’s build that cottage, not in the town and not in the castle, but somewhere entirely in the middle and in-between, a place just for us and Oscar. Let’s make our home and fill it with everything we love. We’ll have a big garden bed outside and a beautiful still room when you enter. There will be a small room with a spinning wheel and a sewing machine for the two of us to sit beside each other and make every single gown we wear. And when we finally finish the house filled with everything we love we’ll go to Martin’s grave and have him marry us. So Cleo, would you be my wife until the heat death of the universe?”
Cleo knew without a doubt and without a thought what her answer was “if you’ll let me” then the tears came again, but not of sorrows and grief of the fears that she might lose her, but the knowledge that Pearl was with her for all of eternity and how sweet that could ever be. The most perfect person, her darling, her puppy, her everything.

After the end of v!smp we follow Pearl and Cleo as they slowly rebuild Oakhurst and heal their trauma together.

Scott reached the end of the hall and turned the corner to have a clear view of the living room and entry way.
When I tell you that what Scott saw was the last thing he expected.
It really was.
There were no amount of years Scott could have lived to be prepared for this moment.
“Shelby. Drift. .. .. why are we bringing the outdoors indoors?” Scott gestured wildly at the massive tree that the two fledglings had dragged through the front door.
