"A puppy," Oda answers simply.
Kunikida's eyebrow twitches.
To paraphrase my dear irl friend, "I wanted a dog. My boyfriend did not want a dog. So we reached a compromise and got a dog!". Also known as – Oda brings home a puppy and Kunikida is forced to just deal with it. -

Sometimes, Ranpo could be a harsh critic of his work. Of course, that did help his abilities as a writer. But the elusive, backhanded compliment was a desperate thing to strive for and Edgar knew it.
