Summary
As soon as Jiang Cheng felt the onslaught of coughs making its way up from his chest, he made haste to exit the conference hall. Sect Leader Yao had been going on, or rather demanding, that his sect be given tax relief this year because floods had ruined their crops and Chief Cultivator Lan Wangji, in spite of his infinite patience and stoicism, was starting to grow irritable. Probably eager to get back to Wei Wuxian, Jiang Cheng’s mind supplied as he tried his best to slip out the Gentian Hall unnoticed, ignoring the pair of unreadable golden eyes and Jin Ling’s hushed whispers of ‘jiu-jiu!’ that followed his retreating back.
OR, Jiang Cheng is dying from unrequited love, and Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian almost don't find out until it's too late.

Summary
So that was what it was: a big coincidence. Still, Jiang Cheng had come. There was a warm fuzzy feeling blooming in Wei Wuxian's heart because of that. He wanted to squash it down and to water it and watch it grow, both in equal measure.
"Lucky me, then. I was expecting to be saved by some no-name, lower-level cultivators, but look who came to rescue me! Sandu Shengshou himself! I'm flattered."
While saving Wei Wuxian's sorry ass from a pack of wild, resentful dogs and their once exiled and slightly vengeful caretaker, Jiang Cheng takes on a curse that wasn't meant for him. It puts things into perspective.

Summary
“Shixiong!”
The annoyed exclamation was followed by the giggles of another voice, louder than the previous.
“Shixiong?” Wei Yuan whispered to himself, and he looked back to Jin Ling to confirm that the latter had heard the same. They both walked towards the muffled chatter with curiosity, stopping when they witnessed the sight of two children with their backs towards them, kneeling in front of a table with numerous pages of parchment scattered throughout.
The taller child was the one who was laughing almost uncontrollably, whilst the smaller one turned to him with a look of vexation. The smaller one stood up, huffing and muttering to himself while the older one was keeling over in his fit of laughter. The calligraphy brush that flew from the younger’s hand and smacked straight into the elder’s forehead caused the latter to pause in his hysterics, instead focusing his attention on the younger and pouting.
“Shidi,” The older boy whined,
“That really hurt.”
